Captain Planet movie

I'm sure it would only be on the Logo channel when it comes on TV.:o

Huh, I thought they were actually doing this movie. It was dump kids show it wouldn't work as a movie. Unless it'd be made as dump kids movie. Animated.

I would definately watch it...

...because you all know, THE POWER IS MINE! :o

CAH

P.S. Yeah, I really would watch it.

Jean Claude Van Damme! He would be THE Captain Planet

I would be very pissed if they would make this and not a cool remake of He-Man. I mean a very good He-man. Made like Conan the Barbarian.

Captain Planet sounded young in the cartoon...Whoever plays him needs to be Brandon-Routh-esque...A man young enough to be considered young, but old enough to be taken seriously.

Actually, I'd prefer if he was all CG. If Silver Surfer looks good on-screen as a CG character, I'd definitely go that route.

Ah, I still remember the spoof of the show's themesong me and my brothers made up when we realised we'd outgrown it... :p

Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Heart! Gocaptainplanet! "When your powers combine, I feel mighty fine!" CAP-TAIN PLA-NET! He's a weirdo! Gonna take our ratings down to zero! He's our powers, stupidified, and sometimes I think he's on the other network's side!

Anyway, yeah, self-parody is the only way a CP movie could ever work.

The title is a little misleading. For a minute i thought they were actually making a Captain Planet movie.:woot:

I used to love this show but i don't think it could work as feature film (thats not to say i wouldn't watch one if it was made).A Thundercats or Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors has better shot as a live action movie IMO.

Maybe if they brought it back on tv as an animated series first. I know it might be considerd dumb or corny now and all but the whole message behind the show rubbed off on me and i loved the action.

LMAO, Captain Planet was a great laugh. Well, the cartoon was, but to be honest, I thought Captain Planet himself was a ****. I always got annoyed when they summoned him.
They could get Whoopi Goldberg to play Gaia!

Heh, if they did make a Captain Planet movie, it'd be one of those occasions where you would NEED to deviate radically from the source material just to reduce the chances of it sucking.

In terms of the preachiness, well, that's the point of the character, except I'd love to have seen them do it in more of a "Change thy ways or PERISH!!!" kind of way. Like, y'know, summoning wolfpacks of giant sharks to reduce whaling ships to debris; they wouldn't need to eat anybody - but maybe take a couple limbs here and there to get the point across. :oldrazz:

Anyway, the damage is done. I'm not putting money on a Captain Planet revival.

I have always thought a Captain Planet Movie would be interesting. It probably won't be good, but interesting.

That would be my top choice.Either her or Vanessa Williams.

5 teenagers from different continents (multicultural), one superhero and supervillains, a good educational message for young people (protection of nature) plus and some interesting merchandising oppurtunities with the rings amongst other things.Maybe it's got more going for it than i thought.

Perhaps Aishwarya Rai could play Gaia?

Vanessa Williams is also a good one..

Worst attempt at a superhero, ever!

To defeat Captain Planet, all you really need to do is throw a full trash bag at him.

And all you need to do to defeat superman is hide a meteor in a led box, then whip it out on him when he leasts expects it.

*rimshot*

prefferably when supes has his ass on a toilet seat.

And all you gotta do to defeat Batman is....hmmm,..well...

I guess you could throw a bunch of grenades at him and hope that he didn't get away quick enough.. :p

I'd watch it, and probably enjoy it.

People are all "You can't preach to us, noooo!!!" but the cartoon did that EVERY SINGLE EPISODE and people loved. Suggesting people use recyclables hadly sends people running away in terror. Furthermore, even Happy Feet has an environmentalist message that people loved. Unlike religion, saving our planet is something everyone can pretty much agree with, even if they don't actually do it.

As for having to be a spoof, I don't buy that, and I think that's a disrespect to the core appeal of these characters. There was a time when blind hollywood execs felt all comic book adaptations had to be spoofs... how could someone possibly take Batman seriously? It's from a kids comic book!

Treat the planeteers with respect, like TMNT and other remakes, and you'll have a great movie...

I saw Transformers last night and really enjoyed it so I'm bumping this thread. If someone can do a less camp version, bigger budget live action film, I'm sure people will go for it.

But don't get an actor to play Captain Planet, it would seem silly. Do motion capture like the silver surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the silver Surfer
