BTW, What the hell ever happened to the Boondocks?
Last I heard, next year.

I have a friend who said something identical to your rant.G4, I will never forgive them for crapping on TechTv. I used to learn computer stuff and then they buy it, and go "Hey how can we make this more like Spike?"

Survivor.I have a friend who said something identical to you.
Isn't that reality tv crap getting kind of stale by now anyway? When did this madness start anyway? The latter part of the 90s? Pretty soon you won't be able to tell one pay channel from another.![]()
Not to mention Judgement Day. That was a great little review show...![]()
Nicktoons, and Disney XD both seem to be doing well. As they both air old shows from there old networks, with new shows to get people to buy the cable package to watch. I could see Cartoon Network reworking Boomarang to be like those channels. With a possible name change for Boomarang, while Cartoon Network changes its name to go into full catching up to Disney mode. What do you all think of Nicktoons? If Networkshows any iota of success in the ratings, will it be long before they follow suit?

Really, now that I've sat here thinking about it. I really just don't care anymore. CN was dragging itself for along time. Yeah I like some of the shows they air. Like Secret Saturdays and Batman the brave and the bold, but from what I've been hearing they won't be there much longer. Its sad to see something you grew up with die, but I have dvds sets now of most of my childhood shows. All I really need left from CN is dvd sets of Swat cats, Megas, and Dexters Lab and I'm done. I'm going to college in Aug. I won't have time for there shows anymore.
I'm still holding out hope that animation will make a furious comeback and prevail but until I see proof of that, the television is rapidly becoming a very repetitive and boring format for entertainment.Heya,
It just seems that all "Scripted" or "Animation" style of shows are dying a very quick and horrible death for "Reality," but everyone wants piece of the pie and it's very cheap to produce.

Is it me or is the cartoon slowly dying?![]()

Sounds like CN is going the way of MTV back in 1992...Walking away from it's original mission into the abyss.
CN is owned by WB right? Explains a lot, as everyone there seems to have their heads in their ***es about running a network. I guess they're applying the same wrongheaded ideas about how they're running CW into their cable channels as well. WB suits must be smoking the same crack Dawn Ostroff has taken during her tenure as CW boss to think this is a SMART idea. Maybe she's a supplier; I don't know.
What do we need with more friggin' reality shows on a network that's exclusive to cartoons? I for one am tired of these doggone reality shows and the fake people on em; this is why I go days and weeks at a time without watching TV. It says volumes about the sad state of television when you have to go to YouTube to watch a scripted TV show in three parts or buy DVDs rather than turn on your TV to watch it.
Best thing for everyone to do is rant, write letters and blog about it. However if you really want the old CN back just stop watching Network altogether until it becomes CN. Let the ratings drop 50, 60, 70% so some boneheaded suit can get fired.

You won't get any flak from me because video games have contributed to this format's decadence. It's not just you. Honestly(and I know I'll catch a bit of heat from this) but I think this is partially because of video games. Why don't kids read comic books anymore? Video games. Why do kids prefer cgi to 2d? Video games. Obviously there are other factors in play in all of those scenarios but I think it can be argued that video games played a big part of that. I'm not some anti-gaming person but I think it's a legitimate point.
More on topic, I think what we're witnessing is the slow and eventual death of animation on tv as we know it. I think cartoons for kids peaked in the early part of this decade. Ever notice how most adult animation fans aren't watching more than maybe 2-4 cartoons nowadays? Oh sure we're still watching OLD stuff on dvd but mostly we're not watching much of anything else. Part of it is our age but I believe another is there is simply not much of quality left anymore for ANY age.
