Cartoon Network to become "Network"

the year 2000, when Entertainment died

I'm just glad for DVD Box sets, got all of my favorite shows from the 90's at my disposal, and since I still rock music CD's (won't touch an IPOD), all I needs is an NES, Super NES and Sega Genesis and I'm set

I'll live in the 90's the rest of my life while the rest of the world enjoys the crap that's beeing spoon fed to them. (XBOX, Wii, Reality TV, Emo Music and guys that look like freaking elves) ya'll can have that ****

Actually the year 2004 is when entertainment died. After 2003 things just took a downfall. Actually gaming systems better then ever.

I thought the tv shows decline started in late 2001 after adventure shows were toned down after 9-11

Atari, NES, Super NES, Sega Genesis, Playstation 1, and even Nintendo64 > anything preceeding it

Playstation2,3,XBOX, Wii and Gamecube were/are just horrible

and as far as tv shows, sorry to tell ya, they haven't been good since 99 with the exception of George Lopez and King of Queens

Gaming now is so much better i mean better graphics and gameplay. Also games are cool too. And you say 99 i say 04.

Yeah do you people think entertainment will be good again like in the 90s and 80s one day or even better? I mean reality tv will die eventually. Its only an era thing era do not last long. People get tired of it eventually.

George Lopez was CRAP!!! I love his stand up but the show sucked....I love my 360...video games these days are a great as theyve ever been....the video game industry now makes more than the movie industry

there is good tv out there, you just have to look a bit harder...Burn Notice, Leverage, and Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia are some examples

I'll give you "It's Always Sunny" even "Reno911 and Rescue Me"

but they don't touch what we had in the 90's

and I'll never agree with the video game arguement. I'll take the systems in the 90's over what's been released this decade (save Nintendo64).

well the attraction of Reality TV to networks is that it is sooo cheap to produce and the return is equal to or sometimes greater than that of a scripted show....you don't have to pay writers, technical staff, actors, etc when you can just slap together some reality show and make just as much money in ad revenue

I disagree about PS2, PS3, and xbox (gamecube and wii mostly sucks even though I love Nintendo). PS2 is the high selling system of all time and has probably the best and deepest roster of games of any system ever, even when the xbox 360 and PS3 hit their 10th year they still won't have as big an effect the PS2 had.

I can name a bunch of good shows this decade. Mad Men, Scrubs, Chuck, How I met your mother, Chapelle's show, and so on. Sure, reality tv is screwing television over, but there still have been gems on tv.

Agreed. CN went downhill after Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakushow, Naruto, Transformers, Gundum, Justice League and Justice LEague unlimited. They have **** shows now.

Ditto!

Been dead since the 80's...

Are you kidding me? The height of cartoons always have and always will be the 90s. Batman, Superman, Spiderman, X-men, Pokemon, Gargoyles, Ren and Stimpy, and the Simpsons (who height of popularity has been the 90s) introduced a new groundbreaking era of cartoons that brough much more complex (and darker) characters and storylines to cartoons.

I didn't get that either. The 90's kicked the crap out of the 70's/80's cartoons. From the Scifi/superhero cartoons, to childrens cartoons, everything was superior in the 90's

Nicktoons (Doug, Ren and Stimpy, AHHH Real Monsters, Rocko's Modern Life, Hey Arnold) the 80's didn't have any of that gold. The Simpsons were in their prime

plus, the 90's transformers series "Beast Wars" > G1

and of course the godlike Superman, Batman, Spiderman and Xmen

1990-1999 you couldn't F with it

How could I forget Beast Wars? It was best Transformers series that was and it didn't even have Optimus Prime (technically).

And don't forget South Park, Recess, Pepper Ann, Dexter's Lab, and Johnny Bravo.

Actually I would like to extend the Iron Age of cartoons fom 1990-1999 to 1990- 2005 because I believe there were many gems earlier this decade like family guy (even though it sucks now), Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Justice League, Jackie Chan Adventures, Avatar The Last Airbender, fairly oddparents, Danny Phatom, are just some of the shows I used to watch.

It's even worse when you consider all the post 2005 nicktoons are all terrible.

Mr. Meaty
El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera
Tak and the Power of Juju
Back at the Barnyard

The Mighty B!

The Penguins of Madagascar

Actually, to tell the truth, there are only two animated shows that I watch that has been made post 2005.

That is heresy and you will be shot on sight for saying such a thing......plus that is just down right wrong...:cmad:

you'd be surprised...many people here feel the same way

the show was perfection

yes robot animals suck...especially robot animals that have to stay in animal form because of "energon exposure"....bunch of *****es if you ask me

It doesn't exactly prove anything when they're the only good animation on the air today.

Along with that of course.

You're a fool. G1 was typical 1980's camp. The only reason people still obsess over it is nostalgia. Beast Wars was better in every way imagineable.

And the Beast Wars characters weren't *****es. They didn't waste their time with humans like the dumb Autobots and Decepticons. True, there were a couple episode with primitive humans. But that was 2-3 episodes max. One was dumb but it never approached the stupidity of G1. Plus one of those was Dinobot's death which was the best episode of the series and better than Optimus Prime's death.

Go ahead, burn me at the stake. I don't care.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree. Beast Wars took the concept and improved on it in just about every way. It was a well written and surprisingly powerful show.
