Cast the Marvel Universe - Part 1

Before anyone continues to dream cast or whatever(badly), I make a small request.

Please explain why. I'm not saying write a whole essay about why, but this thread(like the last one) while it has a decent amount of good, interesting, and inspired castings, is sadly hidden beneath all of the horrible, mind numbingly, non-thought out castings.

So please, give some sort of explanation for who and why that character, just a bit, because with these horrible fan cast posts, I'd at least like to try to understand what motivated any of you to pick those roles.

Hey, nothing wrong with that. Red.Star.Killer. has great casting choices, but I wanna know why he/she chose the actor/actress. I think he chose Ashley Greene for Black Cat in his Spider-Man Noir casting because she knows taekwondo.

Nevertheless, in case no one bothers to catch the last page, here's a list of actors/actresses I'd like to see cast.

Agnes Bruckner
Alyson Michalka
Amanda Crew
Amanda Michalka
Amanda Peet

Craig Parker
Crystal Reed
Dennis Haysbert
Dylan O'Brien

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. And for Majik, here are the reasons why I picked who I picked (I don't know how far you want me to go back so I'll just do the noir cast).

Campo: Saw him in Final Destination and he was Parker. Especially with the power/responsibility aspect. Yeah the movie sucked, but there are plenty people in sucky movies who can nail a certain character, sometimes you have to take a gamble. Thomas Jane did Sweetest Thing, but made a damn great Punisher.

Meloni: i picked him as Osborne because of his work on SVU/Oz. He showed that he can play off the wall madman, cold and calculated killer, an over protective father, a dedicated cop willing to do whatever it takes, and a man who has it out for scum bags. He's got range and is one of those acotrs who can play multiple comics characters (Punisher, Bullseye, Osborne, Sinestro, etc.) Same with Reynolds (GL, Flash, Deadpool).

Englund: He fit that vulture well. Creepy, frightening, and cold. He's played that character for years as Freddy (minus the often camp). He's a good actor and understands the craft (listen to his interviews) and he's so good at switching from a nice guy to a damn monster. Noir Vulture is a straight up cannibalistic madman I can't think of anyone better.

Fairbrass, Fiennes, & Omara: They were pciked in accordance to the characters they could best enhance. Fairbrass was picked for Ox because he has a knack for playing brutish characters without making them seem dumb or one dimensional . He can make them seem like a serious threat even with no dialouge. Fiennes was picked to play Fancy dan because the character was nothing more than a sharp dresser with martial arts skills. Fiennes not only looks the part, but can bring more to the character than just karate and nice clothes. His work on camelot is great and I'd like to see him in mdeium of comics. Omara was picked as Montana due to his ability to play tough and bullheade charcters. He add a depth to Montana other than being a cowboy based badguy with a lariat gimmick.

Butler: Aside from being a great Ares/Punisher he already played Kraven in Law Abiding Citizen. He basically was on the hunt for those who wrong him (past/Present) and he was so consumed in his hunt that it eventually cost him his life.

Boxleitner: Aside from being a good actor he looks the part. Nothing wrong with that, a mjaority of casting decisions are based on that as is in reality. Having the chops to pull it of makes him even better in the role.

Greene: She was Cast because Black Cat is just a sexy woman who owns a night club in the noir verse and she looks like she'd make a great fixture to a noir film, and also happens to make a great black cat. She's attractive, has feline qualities (Her eyes and body movements), plus she can do the physical stuff since she takes martial arts (Thanks for the heads up MarvelComix85).

Jones: Can easily play the loving motherly figure in her sleep. And again looks the part, maybe not for the mainstream Aunt May, but the noir-verse.

So, you're not gonna follow up on the rest of your Spider-Noir cast, Red.Star.Killer?

Anywho, great X-Men fancast!

- I'm not sure about having Jared and Jensen team up again. Plus, Havok is Cyclops younger brother, and Jensen is 4 years older than Jared. I think Jared would be excellent as Cyclops, however.
- Interesting choice for Jean Grey
- Not feeling TJ Thyne as Beast. We need someone who has action chops, a vocal presence, and is built perfectly. My vote's on Jon Hamm or Keifer Sutherland.
- Alex would be perfect for a First Class-era Angel.
- I'd dig Anton Yelchin as Iceman. He has the chops all over.
- YES! You hit pay dirt with your choice for Rogue. Though you should've used a shot of her from her GQ Italy photoshoot from March 2009 when she had brunette hair, because Rogue doesn't have blonde hair. But you've made the right choice.
- Perfect Cyclops!
- I dunno if Taylor can play Gambit in a rebooted version. He did excellent in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but in this new universe, we need flesh blood.
- You have my Kitty Pryde choice from a while back. :applaud
- Not sure about Maggie Grace as Emma Frost. She has the boobs, but seeing her in Lost and in the movies, something about her doesn't scream the role. If you've got Jared as Cyke, pair him up with Sara Foster.
- You've gone over Jason Statham as Wolverine for me in your Earth-X cast, so we'll leave it at that.
- I guess Jonathan Tucker would work as Quicksilver. My money's on Paul Wesley.
- My pick for SW is Rosie-Huntington Whitley. Credit axelbratoski for coming up with that when I had her listed with a few actors/actresses and the roles they should play. She's also the same height as the Ultimate version. But Nikki Reed might work.
- I'm a fan of Monica Bellucci. We're both Italiano. She'll need to hone an American accent if she wants to play Mystique. For now, she's perfect for another Italian character, La Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.
- Tyler Mane already played a Brotherhood member. In another universe, that may not fit well. He's the right height, don't get me wrong, but go with another actor: Nathan Jones. Other than that, that's fine.
- Ooh, interesting Mastermind choice!
- I see David playing a role as a villain of one of the supernatural superheroes. As Toad, he could work. But I see Seann William Scott, knowing he's a greasy-looking schmuck who can fight and be funny at the same time.
- Perfect casting an Australian for an Australian.
- Jack Jordan as Avalanche? Maybe it could work.
- Sadly, Summer is in her 30's now, and X-23 is a teenager. So, scratch that. :csad: My choices are Lucy Hale (TheSoulEater did a pitch-perfect manip of her as X-23, complete with adamantium claws) and Nina Dobrev (Kristen Stewart with curves and talent, and she looks like the character the most).
- YIKES! I thought that was Kim Kardashian cast as Lady Deathstrike. :wow: Samantha seems like a good choice, and she did her own stunts while playing Kitana in Mortal Kombat Legacy! :awesome: Asian actresses at 5'9" - besides Moon Bloodgood - are rare these days, so I can forgive the height. However, she's a little young, and from what I hear, she was involved with Wolverine early in her career, so...
- Damn, I'm feeling your choice for Mister Sinister. Especially after seeing William in Prison Break and Drive Angry.

The rest of your cast is perfect. Not a bad pick in sight.

The Noir casting is not done by a long shot. I just got caught up in X-Men mode lol. The next noir verse installment will finish the spider characters and then I'll do Daredevil Noir, Luke Cage Noir, Punisher Noir, and X-Men Noir.

This is more in hopes of what's to follow in the films after First Class

Great cast there, Majik  I was thinking for a young Storm and Colossus, maybe these choices could be suitable for the role if you think about it.

For Colossus

Nicholas Braun (23 years old, 6'4 1/2, Sky High)

Nicholas+Braun+Red+State+Portraits+2011+Sundance+9hxtzqCDyWal.jpg

Armie Hammer (6'5, The Social Network, Reaper, etc.)

Aaron Hill (6'5, 28 years old, Greek, CSI)

Thanks. Not sure about Braun, I didn't really like him in Sky High, or any of his other Disney roles but that could have been because I didn't care for his characters.
Anyone who's been in the Superman casting threads pre-Cavill confirmation knows how much I hate Armie Hammer.
As for Aaron Hill, I haven't seen him in anything, and he doesn't wuite have the look for what I envision of Colossus.

I love Jessica Lewis, but she's not quite how I envisioned Storm, but if she was ever approached, I wouldn't be mad.

Katerina is an interesting choice that I can see working in the prequel sequels.

I definitely understand on where you're coming from. Reason I thought about Braun is because I had to think of the age, height, and time period of the First Class-era. I couldn't think of anyone who could fill in Daniel Cudmore's role of a young Colossus. Hammer was just something I just thought out of the blue, thought of his stature, height, and acting ability.

denzel washington is a solid choice for a mature character in the marvel u., he could be adam brashear, the Blue Marvel, easily, in his own film, especially the origin tale..

or also, he could play Lieutenant Marcus Stone of Code: Blue, the team of new york city cops who are a special SWAT force against super-criminals. that could be an interesting movie unto itself, since nobody has super powers, they could include a group of super-villains to fight against..

Meh. He's gotten to comfortable at playing himself in every single one of his roles.

Okay, I'm looking for some actors and actresses needed to be cast.

Allison Mack
Alyson Michalka (it can't be Dazzler, give her a bigger role)
Amanda Michalka
Amber Valetta
Anna Faris
Deborah Ann Woll
Elizabeth Gillies
Emmy Rossum
Emily Van Camp
Harrison Ford
Jayma Mays
Jordana Brewster
Mena Suvari
Michael Shanks
Michelle Pfeiffer
Mila Kunis
Neil Jackson
Peter Cullen
Shane West
Tom Welling
Vanessa Hudgens
Victoria Justice

Wow, not bad! I'm glad we found a decent role for Amber Valetta at least. Though I thought we could give Cullen a vocal role, because I don't know if I've seen him ever perform in live action. But Allison Mack would make for a great adult Liz Allen!

Okay everyone, who's looking to cast the rest?

I feel like we have fallen into the bad habit of just listing actors and trying to match a character to them. I feel it should be the exact opposite. We should be worrying about character first, then finding a qualified actor for said role.

What's wrong with that? I'm interested in some of these actors/actresses, and I wanna see what role they'd fit in. When did it become a big deal now?
