The Dark Knight Rises Casting Call (All Villains)

I was thinking that since The Dark Knight featured Eric Roberts and Michael Jai White, the next film could bring back another actor that was "popular" around the same time frame as those two and starred in many movies around the same caliber as Eric Roberts... That man is Tom Berenger.

Tom Berenger is da maaaan!!! One of my favourite ever actors, he should of got that oscar for his role as Barnes.

I could imagen him as a hard boiled cop or P.I investigating Batman or something.

An actress that played a supporting role in a semi-popular tv-show, a wrestler, and people dubbing the movie?
A character being dubbed has happened...and to create Bane- would probably have to happen. You are not going to find many freakishly large men that have the acting chops to be in these films. It wouldn't be hard at all, just look at Abe Sapien in Hellboy. It was done very well. And you are going to need someone of intense size AND athleticism to pull off Bane faithfully and believably. Who ever suggested Javier Bardem to PHYSICALLY act the role, ARE YOU KIDDING? Has this person read a comic WITH Bane? I know he can be toned down for the film, and not made AS big, but he still has to be huge.

Rhona Mitra was an actress in a supporting role in a television show, but was also a supporting actress in The Number 23 and Shooter. She just starred in Doomsday (which sucks) and is also starring in Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. She is a leading lady, can do action, and who cares if she was a supporting actress? I thought the point was to keep the focus on Batman, and not hire A-LIST Movie Stars as the villains this time around (Nicholson, Jones, Carrey, Thurman, Schwarzenegger). Neeson, Murphy, Wilkinson, Wanatabe, Eckart, Roberts, and Ledger have all done perfectly. Sure, some have been great leading men:
Ledger- Brokeback Mountain (He was nominated for Golden Globe and Academy Award)
Wilkinson- Normal (He was nominated for Golden Globe)
Neeson- Schindler's List (He was nominated for Academy Award)
Murphy- Breakfast on Pluto (He was nominated for Golden Globe)

So on and so forth. We do not need huge celebrities. Just actors that can bring something fresh to the role and who have talent. Maybe, Selina Kyle is the role that Mitra could prove herself in. She hasn't been a bad actress, she just hasn't gotten the best scripts.

dubbing could work for bane. it did wonders for darth vador.

I remember Rhona Mitra from her role on Nip Tuck. She is incredibly beautiful but her acting leaves a lot to be desired. I'd be stunned if she was cast. Its different than Ledger. When he was cast many people were thinking WTF? but he had acting credibility after coming off brokeback mountain. The acting credibility isn't there for Rhona Mitra.

Yeah, but the point I'm trying to make is, if Heath had been cast, and all we knew of him was something like 10 Things I Hate About You, or if Eckhart were cast and all we saw was Paycheck we'd have been a bit more skeptical, had we not ever seen them in Brokeback Mountain or Thank You For Smoking...maybe Batman 3 could be an actor/actress' Brokeback Mountain or Thank You For Smoking. Like what if this is THEIR big movie?

I'm not saying it's a certainty, but definitely a possibility.

small possibility. Eckhart and Ledger have had plenty of better depictions of talent than Paycheck and 10 Things throughout their career before and after Brokeback and Smoking, while Mitra still has a very stale, underwhelming career.

Im not talking about fame. Like your examples almost all the main actors has been nominated for big awards for very good dramatic performances. And those who havent have proved to be worthy of it. Mitra has only done some b-movies, and a tv-show and she wasnt even any of the main characters. Compared to other actors, she has a very unimpressive resume.

Unless you want Catwoman to be a smaller character in the next movie?

But Heath and Aaron was partly cast because of said movies. Who knows Mitra COULD make her greatest performance as this character, but then you're suggesting an actress that has never impressed you before and you dont base your suggestion on previous work.

That's true. Batman 3 could be their movie. But as a fan I don't want this to be an acting experiment. I'd rather have someone with at least one acclaimed film where their performance specifically got praise, under their belt

that is a good thing for them to have a good film with their role as a highlight, wheather best suyporting actor/actress or best actor/actress either way if they have an acclaimed performance thats not a porn then yeah thats best.

have you ever read the credits? sorry, i tend to piont out stuff likr this when others screw up in grammer, thats in person, and i try not to but i do, and so yeah

I would love to see Bane properly portrayed on the big screen. But it's a tough one. You need a credible actor who can also bulk up to epic proportions. Well at least reasonably bigger than Bale.

I'd love Mickey Rourke for the role, and movie magic can make his short self look ten feet bigger than Bale if they want to.

Height is not a necessity. Again, look at Lord of the Rings actor John Rhys-Davies. Tallest member of The Fellowship by 3 inches- but he played the shortest.

Yea but I don't just mean height, they need to be hench, built like a brick **** house to coin one of my favourite phrases :D

yes he needs to be like a schwartzenager and kareem abdul jabar combined

I'm not looking for an acting experiment either, lol. But I would support her if cast. She's not a front runner, or even someone on anyone's tongues right now. I personally think she is a better match for Selina than some choices I've seen out there (Kate Blanchet, really? Great actress...but no.) and I think if Nolan cast her and was working with her- giving her a great script, she could be solid. I mean, Katie Holmes wasn't a tremendous actress, with amazing credits, but still was solid in Batman Begins. Maybe not to us, but a lot of people I know weren't bothered by her and actually wondered why she left in The Dark Knight.

My choices for Catwoman:

Rhona Mitra
Kate Beckinsale (although I'd love her as Talia)
Rosario Dawson

I think all would do the role justice.

I'm with you as well. If she is cast, she gets my support. After what Nolan has done to this franchise he can cast Camryn Manheim as Catwoman and I'd be behind it 100%. I have no doubts.

Bane is easy. Get some big wrestler and give him a voice over. A Bane doesn't have to act, because his whole face is hidden behind a mask. So he would only need a great voice and good lines.

Yea but see, having your face covered makes it harder to act IMO. Think about it, you have to convey emotion and feelings without anyone ever seeing your face. You need a credible actor in the role, not just a wrestler.

You can't convey emotions with your face if nobody sees it. You must do it with voice and body language. The wrestlers, in general, are good with body language, because it's great part of the storytelling of their matches. And the voice will not be a problem, if they get a really good actor for dubbing.

If they want to be ambitious, utilizing Fincher's method of cgi head replacement would be a viable means of creating a hulking figure with an actor's prowess.

You wouldn't have to. Bane's mask completely covers his face. When Spider-man or Darth Vader speak in the movies no one complains about who is under the mask. Spider-man is not Tobey in every shot of him speaking. A lot of it is him, but some is Tobey dubbed over a stunt man....and it's seamless.
