An actress that played a supporting role in a semi-popular tv-show, a wrestler, and people dubbing the movie?
A character being dubbed has happened...and to create Bane- would probably have to happen. You are not going to find many freakishly large men that have the acting chops to be in these films. It wouldn't be hard at all, just look at Abe Sapien in
Hellboy. It was done very well. And you are going to need someone of intense size AND athleticism to pull off Bane faithfully and believably. Who ever suggested Javier Bardem to PHYSICALLY act the role, ARE YOU KIDDING? Has this person read a comic WITH Bane? I know he can be toned down for the film, and not made AS big, but he still has to be huge.
Rhona Mitra was an actress in a supporting role in a television show, but was also a supporting actress in
The Number 23 and
Shooter. She just starred in
Doomsday (which sucks) and is also starring in
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. She is a leading lady, can do action, and who cares if she was a supporting actress? I thought the point was to keep the focus on Batman, and not hire A-LIST Movie Stars as the villains this time around (Nicholson, Jones, Carrey, Thurman, Schwarzenegger). Neeson, Murphy, Wilkinson, Wanatabe, Eckart, Roberts, and Ledger have all done perfectly. Sure, some have been great leading men:
Ledger-
Brokeback Mountain (He was nominated for Golden Globe and Academy Award)
Wilkinson-
Normal (He was nominated for Golden Globe)
Neeson-
Schindler's List (He was nominated for Academy Award)
Murphy-
Breakfast on Pluto (He was nominated for Golden Globe)
So on and so forth. We do not need huge celebrities. Just actors that can bring something fresh to the role and who have talent. Maybe, Selina Kyle is the role that Mitra could prove herself in. She hasn't been a bad actress, she just hasn't gotten the best scripts.
