I agree with Loganbabe about Wolverine's potential as a leader. He could make a fine leader, but he would not be very comfortable with the role. He works better when he's the "military advisor" to the actual leader like Cyke or Storm. That way he can act as the voice of experience of the team without losing too much of his wild, reckless side.
Thank you! That´s exactly what I was trying to say. Logan
could be a leader, he´s smart, he has the training, the skills and all, but he´s
not the leader type. That means he´s too unstable, he´s a hot-head and he can be reckless, because most of the times he isn´t worried about his own physical safety. And he´s right to be afraid of his own behaviour, because of all the things that happened to him at Weapon X, all the mind-f******. But I´ve read stories where the X-Men come to him for some advice, especially Havok and Storm; he certainly has the knowledge of what a battle is supposed to be.
I hate to read stories where the only thing Logan does is jump around stabbing people like some mad pitbull on crack. I hate writers who write him like that. He should show more of his training, fighting skills and resourcefulness in the stories, not only his wild and berserker side.
The leader can not be the hot-head of the team. That's why the leader-characters can be less entertaining, even boring to some. Personally, I often find the characters who have to deal with the burden of leadership interesting. The pressure they live under, the difficult decisions they have to make. I find Cyclops particularly interesting among this type of characters, because of the way his role as a leader goes against the insecure, socially-awkward even shy person he is underneath that no-nonsense professionalism.
It´s so nice to read a post like this. You and I may have different opinions, but you just gave yours without the arrogant pretension of "educating" people, as some say, or claiming you´re a better fan because you read the comics or something. You should post more around here!

I agree about Cyclops. He doesn´t have an appeal to me, just like characters like Captain America and Superman. They have that righteous, mr.niceguy aura about them, things that never attract me when it comes to fictional characters. But they offer some interesting possibilities too, and what you wrote about Cyke is right on the money.
As far as casting of Wolverine goes... Handsome, instantly likeable, conventional hero-type Wolverine took some getting use to, but Jackman's skills and charisma won me over. I'm happy with what he did with the role, even if I wonder what it would have been like had they cast a genuinely rough and scary actor like Michael Wincott.
Hugh had to work a lot to convince Brian he could play the role in X1. Brian wasn´t so sure about him in the beginning. But in the end he won over not only Brian, but also the rough tough crowd of guys working on the sets. The would cheer him up "Yo, Wolverine!" That´s when Hugh really knew he was doing a good job.

t: He´s a handsome guy and all, but he can play scary, rough Wolvie easily. I have girlfriends who don´t find him attractive at all as Wolverine!
Now, it really would be interesting seeing an uglier and meanier actor playing the role. I don´t know Michael Wincott, I´ll check him out. Altough I never saw comic Wolvie as ugly. He isn´t a pretty boy by any means, but not horribly scary as some artists draw him from time to time. He´s charming in his own rough way.
