CBS is Bringing MacGyver Back to Television

Yeah, kill off the roommate and get rid of those ridiculous onscreen labels. That's like a lazy way of explaining what he's doing. Either that, or they aren't very well researched. Burn Notice did it much better.

And his MacGyverisms are like MacGyver-lite. I also think the fact that they have a hacker removes part of the need for having Mac himself. He doesn't really feel all that special. If this version had been the original show and we were presented with these concoctions and contraptions, I don't think the way they do them here would've caught on with the general public and the verb "to MacGyver" something would never have caught on in the English language.

Well the execution of this week's episode was better than the previous two weeks. Not only did he make more stuff but thankfully the labeling of everything was kept to a minimum with it only appearing briefly in a couple of scenes. He spent more time explaining the Macgyvering process which made all the difference. Hopefully they'll phase those labels out completely.

MacGyver using parts of the car while running from the bad guys definitely felt like an episode of the original show, but the terrorist organization's accountant dude was definitely too over the top with his Kardashian-wannabe lifestyle. Humor is fine but it's reaching parody levels with characters like that.

Glad this is a full season. It's a fun show.

First few episodes were kinda rough, but it seems like it's getting better so far.

It really has gotten better. It seems they've completely dropped the text over items. The roommate still needs to go and the hacker needs her screentime reduced to about 10 minutes tops. I want to see more of Thornton's field work. Last 2 episodes she just shows up in the area with the team after kicking some ass of her own. More of her, less of the hacker.

Seeing that his roomate is his cover and his only door to seeming normal nd place to come home to it's not likely it's like what keep show casing in NCIS LA with callen most spies and agents need stability when they aren't on assigment. other they start to crack up more with paranoid problem's. this was also shown on burn notice the tv series michle wasn't used to normal he went nuts one episode cause most of the people around him were from his spy career and he didn't know how to live normally.

that buddy of that he grew up with that's his roomate keep's him grounded.

yeah they can go for the girl friend and the also for him making family by getting married but with how writer's fall into the troupe's of the spy that has separate from his/her from their family due to the job like the occupational hazard's of their most dangerous foe's that they have hard to kill or keep in prison finding out about said girl friend or family that keep's the protagonist spy/ agent grounded or claim the protagonist's ) they aren't good for those things , and thus think making them a jerk or A hole is more interesting.

I'm fine with this.

cause it's tired thsy do those things.

yeah I used to love that series as a kid when Richard Deen Anderson played him.

I understand that. I just find him to be annoying as ****. Make him less annoying is what I really want then.

I hear ya. and he's eventaully gonna find out some day. but it'll be best to treat him like mchels mom and brother in burn notice just cause he know of mac's workd doesn't mean he should be inducted into the agency. I can't think of any reason why. useless they will be using his film school skill's to help fool people ,ostly the villains often. like the film and tv series FX did.

Other wise there's no point.

David Dastmalchian is playing Murdoc !!

The new Murdoch was pretty good and I just relaized this week that MacGyver looks like John Cena with more hair! :wow:

Riley at the art exihbit! :hmr: :ilv:

I liked Dastmalchian's Murdoc but I wish he hadn't been captured at the end. I wanted a big explosive crowd-pleasing "death", then he comes back with his face scarred.

I like their Murdoc. Wished he killed off the annoying roommate. He knows too much...

and he's annoying. Hope he's not made part of the team.

Killing off one of the flew black characters on a show wouldn't go over too well. How about a compromise and stop making him comic relief?

well the show's agency director ( I know her from the spy series John woo's once a thief ) brought in mac's best friend and room mate for the reason I said.

Sadly so far they aren't using that skill set yet and he's there for comic re leaf.

They better start having him use his skill set soon and they can watch the Fx the movie and tv series to do it (<<if they are lost concept idea wise) and they need to tone it down with his chris Tucker/ Rock Habit of talking more then he should.

And he shouldn't be out in the field. he should be making their gear for disguise's among other things with his movie tech and prosthetic's

us black brotha's don't all have that personality. And it's overrated. thank good ness for NCIS L.A. and other shows. seriously tone down the over talkative ness

Well, didn't see that coming. And I don't like it because she was bad ass. 😔

I didn't see that twist coming, I wonder if Sandrine Holt is leaving. It was great to see Amy Acker again, I think she was used better this time. I have to say on a purely shallow note all the Ladies were looking fantastic in last night's ep! :O

I'm gonna miss the lady director

I must say the actress that plays is great canadian actress. . I've most seen her inthe role of spy from john woo's once a theif where she was younger and an domestic operative working being freed from jail terms and then befor this show she was the sci -fi sanctuary as guest star. I think she was CDC doctor in that one. it's shame her character went bad. she was an awesome boss.

won't who thy'l have to replace her? it'll be odd if it was Amy Acker. but I had that conversation with my sibling that watch's the show and my buddies.

I love this show so far and as a huge MacGyver fan glad to see Mac back on TV.

Apparently the name of Thornton's replacement is a throwback to the original series. A character with a similar name framed Thornton to get his job as director. I hope this is what is happening here. I want my hot modern day version of Thornton back.

It'll be curious to see how they play that out. Jack seems to think she is legit.

So when is the next ep? It just seemed to disappear off the schedule.
