Chadwick Boseman is Black Panther! - Part 5

I wonder how built up Boseman is going to get? He should get into Evans in Cap 1 shape I think. I also wonder how much time with the mask ON he will clock in with?

Well, he's got a lot less work to do than Chris Pratt did for Starlord, but he makes his debut in Civil War which starts filming in April. So he's got a few months to bulk up, and then a year or so after that to get in even better shape for his solo outing.

I've heard how dedicated Boseman is, getting prepared for his roles so I assume he'll be able to get Chris Evans big. He looked pretty good shape up on stage there, a little too small but his shoulders looked pretty broad.

I am very happy to be here!

Please Marvel do not allow JOHN SINGLETON ANYWHERE NEAR THIS FILM!!

You say a lot of strange and silly things in this thread. But on the above we are 200% in agreement.

It's quite fortuous timing for Marvel to nab Chadwick Boseman for Black Panther now. At the moment he isn't quite a big star, but his performance as James Brown in Get on Up has been getting raves, to the point where some are suggesting he could be a dark horse contender for some Best Actor award nominations. If that does indeed happen, Marvel's Black Panther in waiting will go from being a relative unknown to being the hot new thing in Hollywood just primed for a role like T'Challa to make him an A-list headliner.

I read a while ago that he recently sold an action flick that he'll co-write and star in to one of the studios. It will be interesting to see if this Panther announcement boosts that film's box office.

Is Everett Ross even necessary? I don't [think so]. Replace him with Clint Barton.

Done. There's your white surrogate. He's already established in the MCU, so why introduce Ross?
I'm still a big proponent of having Hawkeye in this movie even if he's no longer SHIELD he could go CIA or Embassy protection but Other than that I have nothing of substance to add I read the news on FB and knew I had to come here and comment but I got waylay-ed by ADHD and the internet:woot:

So congratz SHH we're definitely getting BP and with Chadwick Boseman(the preferred BP) and we get a date for Captain Marvel all in all a good day

Yeah, we could really use Hawkeye in Cap: Civil War. There may not be many superheroes in MCU, but that doesn't mean they should ignore what they have.

I don't want anyone to ask Boseman to bulk up like Chris Evans did for Cap 1. The things Chris Evans had to do were awful for his body—things that literally made him physically nauseous constantly, and would've destroyed his body and likely lead to a very early death if he tried to keep it up constantly. It's why he's a lot smaller in Avengers and Winter Soldier.

I have no problem with superhero actors being buff and athletic, but asking them to do that to their bodies feels unethical to me, especially when that image is going to be presented as an ideal of health and physical attractiveness to millions and millions of people, who don't understand how the sausage got made, so to speak. I mean, is it any wonder that male eating disorders are on the rise?

Well if you're expecting a 100% sanity on boards such as this then you're in the wrong place.

Boseman isn't in bad shape at all. I'm sure he'll do some training though but it won't be on the same level as what Evans had to do. Evans had to get huge for Cap because of the nature of the character an the origin.

Can you give me the short of it?
Normally it's the cutting phase that is dangerous.

Can't see how seeing someone as jacked as Cap is/was would lead to an eating disorder.

You have to eat prodigious amounts of food to get a body like that!

I don't know much about chadwick but his resume looks good and he's crazy good looking so I 110% support this.

Gee this movie is going to rock! I still can't believe we're talking about this for real!

Nothing to do with eating Evans said when he got to his TFA body size, he kept injuring himself hurting ligaments and tendons and such, cos his body wasn't used to it. If anything that just means he got too big too fast and his joints and such weren't ready for it.

Plus he is hardly a lot smaller in the follow ups, have people seen him in wood chopping scene.

Someone's not into bodybuilding. You even lift bruh?!

The original guys have to play a part. Anyone who's not introduced yet will have a lot more to do to seem relevant.

Dont recall the injuring tendons stuff but I do recall Evans saying that the regimine was so tough that he puked quite a bit and that he hated it; but to be honest, what ultra-intensive regimine wouldnt cause you to do that until you became used to it? Christ, there are countless stories of atheletes puking after work outs.

I don't think he'll have to get that big since T'Challa isn't as big as Steve. Cap is built like a linebacker while Black Panther is built more like a safety. I think he'll have to slightly bulk up, but probably not too much.

I'm still kinda tripping that there's a Black Panther forum now. It's almost unbelievable.

I hope we get the Panther at some point in a chase scene very reminiscent of that scene in Casino Royale where Bond was chasing that guy in Madagascar.

Yeah, that'd be cool. Parkour is an absolute must for BP's arsenal.

I am drooling over the prospect of the Russos and TWS stunt coordinators shooting Black Panther and Captain America fight scenes.

Talk about a perfect combination.

Absolutely, really looking forward to that.

Question. In regards to how Boseman is going to appear onscreen, would you like it if they gave T'Challa some feline features?

Denys Cowan drew him like this in the 1988 Black Panther limited series. Sadly, no artist has followed suit in T'Challa's subsequent appearances. A shame, since I thought it was really cool and gave Panther a unique look.

I don't want him with feline features. He looks too much like he's out of a vampire movie otherwise. He needs to be relatable to audiences, especially as the first black superhero movie in the MCU.
