Black Krrsantan's body language did remind me a lot of the Predator and Kevin Peter Hall. I didn't realize he had played a Predator before. But makes sense now.

Black K's actor, Carey Jones, was the Tracker Super Predator in Predators.

Well, looks like we are finally done with the flashbacks. At least this time, the split in the episode felt like it made sense.

The mod shop scene was so over the top, so very different than what we have seen in Star Wars, and played so straight, I love it. **** it, I love it and the Vespa gang. Cyberpunk is canon in Star Wars now. Deal with it nerds.

The sarlaac scene was clearly just because someone wanted to do the actual sarlaac. Happy to see the beak still exists.

One thing I've enjoyed is that Robert Rodiguez clearly loves droids. We have been seeing a lot of different droids, a lot of bringing back classic droids. Seeing EV9-D-9 being demoted to kitchen duty with Chef Grevious was neat, and seeing the rat catcher make its way to live action was great. RIP Gonk droid.

The Black K scene was great. I really am happy with the actor they got for him. Once again, brilliant choice of using a Predator actor.

And now, we wait for the the build up to the finale.

Yeah. I was actually fine with the mod shop stuff and any slight trepidition I had about it when it appeared was absolutely due to how poorly executed the Mod gang was last week. I suspect had the Mos Vespa gang not happen last episode or that mediocre chase scene, probably a lot more people wouldn't have really batted an eye.

On second thought, maybe they criticize the music in the Mod shop but I read that as a track the shop was playing. But if one complained that the music in the mod shop took them out, but was fine with Jedi Rocks or Sly Snootles then they're just contradicting themselves lol.

I liked the casino scene with Krssantan. Not so much because I need wookie dismemberment per se, but because for a character who can't intelligibly speak, it felt like a good character moment. "Yes, you are trying to sweat-talk and flatter and bribe me. . . but I *hate* being bull****ted. I'd rather finish my rampage and pay my own bar tab, thanks."

It was sort of like a Star Wars show walking into cyberpunk film or scenario. But I mean...that's kind of what Star Wars does. Star Wars kind of mashes up all these various cinematic styles and recasts it in a kind of modern, contemporary new way.

I don't see the problem. Lucas borrowed heavily from filmmakers like Kurosawa as did many of his contemporaries of that era.

I think some people don't think through the idea that this is supposed to be a living galaxy with millions of different cultures and people of all ages. On earth there are some common things from one country to the next but there are also some pretty wild and interesting or bizarre differences in culture and aesthetics. It would be the same for the star wars galaxy. We should sometimes see stuff that is very different from the norm. Young people on earth get body modifications and tune up their vehicles so why wouldn't we expect young people to do the same sort of stuff in the star wars galaxy?

While I overall agree with this, in slight fairness, I do think that there is a valid criticism that they went too far with the aesthetic of the Mod gang. We're told they're poor enough that they can't afford water and have no work, yet they not only have these nice souped up rides, they have modded parts on themselves, they're all well put together, and they have really nice clothes, great hair. They looked more like trust fund kids than poor kids.

Anecdotally, I absolutely agree and seen poor kids have sweet rides but most of them didn't also have expensive clothing neck to feet and etc. When you're poor something's gotta give. Again restraint is the key to believability. You could have all of them have nice clean vehicles, but they still should look like they're struggling. You could've afforded to have one guy look well put together, I've seen that. But not an entire group of poor kids who share one hobby such tricking out rides.

Personally I can get over it but I objectively understand some people's gripes with it.

This was probably the best episode so far. The Sarlacc pit thing was funny because it almost felt like something they slapped together in the last two weeks after all the angry fan reactions over how little Sarlacc we got in the premiere. Like, “Oh crap. We needed more Sarlacc. Ummm, I know! Let’s send him back there!” Not that it looked bad or anything; I just didn’t understand why Boba thought his gear was still down there when we saw him climb to the surface wearing it and then get robbed by Jawas. But I guess he was too delirious to know what was happening or something.

Episode four...

Alright now the backstory for Shand and Fett. I gueeeeeeeess the idea is that Boba had to connect with someone other than his father or other Bounty Hunters to awaken his mercy and empathy? Is that what we're going for? He is fresh from the loss of the Tuskens when he finds Shand so he is inclined to help those who are left for dead? Also have to ask... So Boba was with those Tuskens for FIVE-ish years? We saw all that mattered in that time? And he did so wearing that white torn flight suit the whole time until the Raiders gave him thos black robes? That... I'm not sure I buy that or at least I don't buy how they are presenting it.

So... What is it with the bargain basment cyberpunk being injected into SW? The Mos Espa Mods and now this cyborg doctor and his clients? Just like the mods... I'm not sure this fits this particular SW setting. It all feels out of place until we start seeing a side of Tattooine, perhaps the bigger cities, where these Space Cyber Hipsters would feel more at home but now... I don't get it. It feels like Boba takes a side trip into some other non SW sci fi show every once in a while. Also... Techno Rave music? I'm all for expanding what a SW show or film can be but... This feels less "Cool this is modern SWs!!!" and more "Uh... Techno Music and cyborgs... That goes together, right?"

Once more... Where is all this ****ing wood coming from on this desert planet? A nit pick but when stuff isn't grabbing you...


So Shand and Boba take Slave I back from Bib the "back stabber" which... Did either Jabba or Bib "back stab" Fett? And Boba wanted to carve out a kingdom cuz he is tired of hunting for others. Which I get it and that's more or less what I thought but... This execution and the texture of this decision on the character still feels thin. Also... His ship just was left at the palace for five years? Again...Not sold. Not broken down for parts. Not used as a powerful attack craft by a mafia gang... Just collecting dust in Jabba's garage? Huh?

That implosion bomb gambit was... That was pretty dumb if you think about it. Very nice to see Fett's ship in action though. A wonderful design that still holds up. A truly Sci Fi look for a ship having no modern world analog.

I do really like the promise of these characters in orbit around Shand and Fett. Big BK, Garsa, the guards, his majordoma droid, this is a good crew but so far everything is still very slow and very unfocused.


Stuff that did work for me was things like Boba just chilling on top of the Rancor pit as a subtle reminder of his fearlessness and cunning. Give me more of Fett coming in on the other criminals at angles they can't see please.

That music cue at the end... Mando doing a guest shot?

This show is four deep out of a seven ep run and it feels like it's just getting to the start of it's story.

Wife wanted to catch up (she hadn't seen episodes 2-4). Honestly, I like this show less and less every episode. Was this episode better than last week? Maybe marginally, but this show is just so badly structured, Boba has largely come off as either old, stupid, or both on the show, they have to forcefully make everyone and creature associated with Boba somehow an antihero or nice monster, and I just don't really like this show much at all. We are over halfway through the season, and it barely feels like the present story has advanced at all. There is slow burn and then there is no burn. This show is a no burn.

You speak the true, true.

I like or am very interested in the potential of these characters and the situation in broad strokes but... FORWARD MOMENTUM Jon, Dave and Robert.

And stop trying to split the difference of what most fans think of when they consider Fett as a character and the inherent need for a Disney + show to be as broadly appealing as possible. Either we are buying into Boba as being a person ruthless and cunning enough to steal an entire Hutt territory away from that cartel and keeping it or we don't. Sure, I get acts of mercy and charity and showing humanity yadda-yadda... Or we don't. It's why I'm looking at things like the killing of the Swoop gang and thinking, it kinda of is a foot in both worlds. Its a savage act but done out of sentiment. And it's a bit opaque as an action since, I don't know if we have peeled back Boba's layers. Like, it would be something to show that he really did "soften" living with the Tuskens, meaning his heart was touched in some way and he made a real connection but then we see he barely gives the audience any emotion and I don't need him to, but they could have set up scenario where we see Boba understanding he's been cold and cut off since his father died and understanding this place and people could be an answer to just being... Happy. And then that's taken from him and he reverts to his cold side.

But I just didn't see anything like that. They want us to feel something but I'm not sure what Boba is feeling at any given moment. It also feels like the big focus changes from episode to episode and only now are we getting into what the big opposition Fett and his crew will face. But they should have brounght that on stage first rather than trying and failing at some guessing game story that never went anywhere. If it's the Hutt cousins, stick to that. If it's corrupt politicians, stick to that. If it's herding all the gangs on planet, stick to that.


This really doesn't feel like the same folk that created the more tightly woven Mando are doing this show since I just was never this frustrated with Mando.

Temura is still projecting good stuff but this story...

And I do think his on paper motivations and the performance hasn't filled us in enough.

It's why I used frustrated. I like this cast. I like the ideas. I'm not sure they have pulled them off well and it feels the why they are doing this show that it either needed to have its story concentrated or needed even more episodes to flesh it's story and characters out more.
