Chapter 56 - "Turn and Face the Stranger" Discussion Thread - 4/9/09

I like the guy and all but he bores me more and more as time goes by...i tend to be kinda meh on his scenes and stories

:hehe:

Hey, we've agreed on plenty of things before! And I stand by the fact that PETER should be the one to finally put an end to Sylar.

That's just the way it needs to happen in my book.

I agree, but Noah needs to play a role in it. After all, season one, when it came down to it, at the end was Noah and Peter united to stop Sylar. They need to end it together.

I really enjoyed tonights episode. My favorite ones always seem to involve Noah and Sylar and I agree its time for someone to take him down.

I can imagine something like Peter getting a super charge from the baby and asborbing everyones powers for a final fight with Sylar. After he somehow incomplastates(eh spelling) him, Sylar can say, " arent ya gonna kill me, " and Peter will say, " you said it yourself, i am not a killer" (referencng the end of Vol. 3 when he could not kill his dad and Sylar did.) then have Peter walk away and Noah walk up and say, " but I am and jab a knife into his brain. Its alittle trit and predictable yet I think it would make a good end for the season.

Since the beginning of season two, every characters lives have been spiraling out of control, and their friends and families collapsing all around them now to the point where every single one of our Heroes are on the run.

Yet for Sylar, things just keep getting rosier and rosier and now I don't even know if it's funny or sad that he's the only one not on the run from the government.

There's needs to be some comeuppance for his character, and it needs to be FINAL.

Isn't the reason Sylar's life hasn't spiraled out of control, because he had no life to begin with?

i loved this weeks show.... everything mentioned already ..but also the whole ...danko not really liking who he has become an turning to the escort for a chance at real love... but matt took a giant sized needle and burst that bubble...lol but a good show

I felt the most pertinent characters all wanted Sylar dead. Mohinder, Hiro, and Matt were all gunning for Sylar as well. Mohinder actually knew Sylar better then any other character in Season 1 and their animosity for each other was a lot more personal.

I'm actually hoping it'll be a group effort between all the Heroes. This show is called Heroes after all, not Hero. The most disappointing thing about Season 1's finale for me is that all the Heroes basically met up at Kirby plaza. The common sense reason would be for them all to team up and help battle Sylar, but instead most of them just looked on.

I hope if Sylar gets taken out it'll be with more of a team battle. Peter can be the main heavy hitter and Noah can be the one to eventually kill him, but considering how powerful Sylar's gotten the only satisfying conclusion for me is if they all work together.

followed by an off-screen/hinted at decapitation, just so we know the git is dead for sure, worst thing would be we think he is dead yet again but... DUN DUN DERRR Sylars back next season! his ACTUAL death would be a great way to end the season, we need a new villian, one of Heroes weakest points since the end of S1 is the villians, none of them match S1's evil Sylar and the cunning of Linderman, Lets hope Vol.4 gives us our Heroes back in full.

Yea we need some new villians definately. Thats the mainthing that pissed me off bout vol3 we had all these great sadistic maniacal villians and what happens?? They all die! WTF! Also I dont care what anyone says as a villian Arthur Petrelli was great and Maury Parkman couldve really been somethin great. Considering that this show takes a lot of cues from xmen I would really like to see the world become aware of the heroes and thats when we get a character similar to Magneto ya know. I dunno the main thing Im not liking is that all the volumes are like little self contained stories. Its like everything is resolved in the volume finale and at the very end they just lay the stones for the next volume. I dont wanna see everything being resolved so damn quick. They need just one big encompassing story thatll last till the very end with other arcs and subplots being resolved quicker but I just loved how season 1 just built so much damn suspense and tension over a nice amount of time. The way it is now things get moving way to quick and as soon as they start to get interesting BOOM season finale.

I agree. Season 3 was called Villains but it did more harm to the villain roster then help. Adam Monroe and the Nightmare Man were killed off quickly, they tried to make Sylar into a good guy, and then they killed off all the new villains they created. At the end it was just Sylar again, but now there wasn't even a chance to reuse the S2 or S3 villains.

Awesome, awesome episode. This volume is lightyears ahead of volume 3 if you ask me. Now we just need some good female characters.

Also, I love that the Sylar/Noah feud is escalating. In a weird way, Noah has always had a psychological edge over Sylar. Almost the only man Sylar fears. Noah versus Sylar should make some excellent TV. But for the love of God, abort the plans to make "5 Years Gone," come true. Let this volume end with Noah and Peter doing what they set out to do together in New York on "How to Stop Stop an Exploding Man." Let them kill Sylar. There is no room left for development in the character. He developed, then reverted. Trying to make him good again or have him grow would only seem like back and forth flip flopping. Clearly he is staying evil and every great villain must have a downfall.

Kind of a Dumbledore/Voldemort sort of thing there.

I loved this episode, it was just so good.

Noah had me lawling all over the place in this ep. when he whipped out his gun and was like "are you surprised NOW??!!!" i squealed like a pig. and then after he shot the guy aka sylar, and ran out of the room was funny, and then for no reason he was knockin people over while running. i even think he knocked over an old lady lololol

The promo for this episode was like "Finally, the biggest mystery revealed." or something like that. Stupid lying promos.

Heroes doesn't really have any more secrets to reveal. We know all that we need to know about all the main characters, and the side characters aren't really important enough to have important secrets. The only reason shows like LOST are able to reveal big secrets is because they bring in new characters with secrets every season and make them centrally important to the plot.

This.

It speaks volumes (no pun intended) about a show like Heroes when not a single character introduced past S1 has had any staying power at all with the possible exception of Tracy. Monica? Vanished. Bob? Sylar'd. Elle? Ditto. Maya? Depowered and shipped out. Adam? Evaporated. West? Vanished. Maury? Snapped. Daphne? Jacob's Laddered. Luke? Discarded. Caitlyn? Probably dining at the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Arthur? Well, he got the point... right between the eyes.

So yeah. Whatever this revelation turns out to be is likely just another plot device to meaninglessly drive the story in an attempt to connect us to people that have been hashed out, rewritten, and then rehashed.

Am I the only one not really impressed by the character of Danko? Wasn't he supposed to be this "Hunter" mentioned earlier this season? I just feel like his character hasn't been very interesting or intimidating to be honest. He's been bossed around for the most part, and only showed his potential in these recent episodes. It's a terrible waste of a pretty solid actor. I want to like this partnership he's formed with Sylar, but I have a feeling it'll end like Sylar's short-lived relationships with Elle and Luke. By the way, did they ever reference why Luke is gone? Did I miss that? It seems like he disappeared from the show's continuity entirely.

Sylar threatened to kill him and then told him to go home to his mother.

This episode was hilairous. Sylar talking to Danko about the mole in a "certain location" and HRG pushing people when he was running. Classic!

I agree. I hope Sylar never dies. His abilities are too bad ass to begin with.

The part when Hiro stops the bullet right when it is about to kill Matt is crazy.

Can the baby take away Sylars powers by any chance while hes crying?

It would be kind of funny if thats how they end up killing him. With a baby.

I think it'd be kinda cool if it was a big team battle but Sylar was still kicking their asses so Ando uses his "supercharge" power on all the Heroes and then they just whoop up on him.

Also, I'm drawing a blank, who was West?

Claire's boyfriend from season two that coudl fly.
