The Mandalorian Chapter Thirteen Spoiler Discussion

Good episode, dug the action scenes and Mando's little relationship with the villager consisting entrely of head nods. I'm not calling him Grogu, you can **** right off with that.

Putting aside any potential stuff with Dawson outside of the show, I wasn't really feeling her here in the role. Maybe it's intended to be different for her because of where she is in her life, but that's not really the impression I got off it. It just never really felt like the character to me, unlike Katee Sackhoff - who, by the way, sounded just like Bo-Katan, which was a huge surprise. Her lightsabers looked great though. Her look was a mixed bag. The facial markings I really liked, the head tails they made the wise choice to shorten but they still look not so great in my opinion. Costume, I liked the idea of it but I feel like the single-tone colour made it look pretty bland and the fit was a bit awkward around the chest.

I'm gonna just bounce a little theory here. Which is that, while clearly they're setting up more with her and Thrawn in live action, her appearance in the next Filoni animated show will feature her becoming a Jedi again - probably through meeting up with Luke. She never refuses the title here. I do hope whatever the next animated show he does feels like it solidly concludes the teasing at the end of Rebels even with this hanging thread, as this episode didn't really minimize my main concern about following it up in live action - that this doesn't really feel like the character I went on the journey with so far and so it'd be weird to end it with this version. That said, given I doubt they recast for the practically inevitable spinoff, I hope she at least grows into the role a bit - this was fine as a general performance but not really for her, in my opinion.

Bummed about no Rex though. Morrison is right there, you have him. Also since this kills my pet theory about Mando meeting Rex, getting on with him, then meeting Boba and being like "Rex! What happened to your face?" and getting punched in the face or whatever, I now kinda wonder if Ahsoka might pop up again with him in the future and instead Mando, who has presumably been attacked by Boba Fett, flips out thinking it's him.

It does feel strange. Because I really enjoyed the episode. I am the ultimate Jedi fanboy, so when ever they show up, I am having a good time. But at the same time, it felt odd. I also think it is going to be sad when she ends up being one of the few that doesn't crossover, as I feel like a lot of the characters started clearly being designed with the voice actor's general look in mind later on. When we finally see Thrawn, I think there is no way he isn't played by Lars.

Yeah, it's kind of hard not to notice how many animated characters in Star Wars resemble their voice actors now.

Uh clearly not. The only voice Star Wars around here that matters has already spoken ad he said:

On Thrawn. I think there is a chance he might replace Gideon as the leader of the Imperial forces that still remain. But what if there is something else? What if during his space journey he found something else? I don't like them, but they did mess with the idea of the Vong on TCW.

great episode. it may take time for me to get used to Dawson as Ahsoka. like most of you...i feel the same way but shouldn't overly judge her by just one live action appearance. give it time if she does reappear. *shrugs* as far as translating from animated to live action, Bo Katan remains the best to be seen, hands down. im not sure of baby yodas real name. lol. cant wait for next weeks episode.

Thank f'n god. He's got a name now. So we can stop using the Baby Yoda ****. Grogu is as good a name as any for the child.

That said, I found Ahsoka's reasoning for not wanting to train him very suspect. She had a friendship with Ezra Bridger. She knows him very well. Kanan trained him. Ezra was tempted but did not turn to the dark side.

Ezra wasn't trained until his teens. He was raised by his parents who he lost. He also had familial connections to Kanan and all the ghost crew.

Absolutely loved this episode, and man was this was so lore heavy. We got:

- Ahsoka
- Baby Yoda backstory
- THRAWN!!!
- We might finally get to see the ancient birthplace of the Jedi - Tython
- The Jedi that will reach out, has to be Ezra right? Can't be Luke or Leia. How old is Ben Solo suppose to be around this time?

Thank you Dave Filoni, George taught you well.

Hold up, if I'm not mistaken in the last episode of Rebels, Ahsoka goes to Sabine that she has found where Ezra is. In this episode she is still looking for Thrawn. Could it be that this episode takes place before the final act of the Rebels finale?

It still irks me that Ahsoka is alive. I get that she is Filoni's favorite, but come on man. There is but one Jedi at this point, and his name is Luke. That Ahsoka and Ezra are still out there. I mean they are the most useless Jedi ever. Especially as there is galaxy defining stuff that literally needs Jedi help. I can't waits for Ahsoka to be alive post ST, to emphasize the lack of importance of Luke Skywalker being the literal last Jedi a second time. :funny:

Convenient of Dave Filoni direct this one with Ahsoka’s live action debut since he co-created her and has been attached to her since.

I felt Ahsoka refused to train the newly-named Grogu because she is no longer a Jedi since the Clone Wars.

Glad they mention Tython because that’s from the Star Wars Old Republic video game. It is one of the oldest Jedi planets along with Ossus and Ach-To.

If Luke Skywalker appears in this series, I want he and Ahsoka together...so she can call him Sky Guy!!

On Thrawn. I think there is a chance he might replace Gideon as the leader of the Imperial forces that still remain. But what if there is something else? What if during his space journey he found something else? I don't like them, but they did mess with the idea of the Vong on TCW.
A version of this exists within SW canon, specifically Tim Zahn’s new Thrawn books. He introduced a race of beings who were from the Unknown Regions plotting to move in on the main Galaxy called the Grysks, who went about absorbing various civilisations. Thrawn and Vader had history keeping them from invading that halted them, but not outright defeating them. There’s definitely the potential to have them be a factor going forward.

... though whether they actually go that route or a variation on the classic Heir to the Empire story is anyone’s guess.

Great episode and man is must have been a dream come true that Filoni got to direct it. This honestly felt like the most Star Warsy episode we have ever gotten out of this show with all the lore and references being mentioned and I love that Filoni just went for it which ought to please many of the hardcore fans out there.

The washed out, gritty, brown aesthetic was a really interesting/unique visual choice too and for some reason it reminded me a lot of something you would see in Terminator or at least those scenes of the desolated, war torn landscapes that we saw in Salvation which is probably why Michael Beihn was such a perfect fit for this episode and its just awesome seeing him in anything Star Wars related period.

I also enjoyed Rasario Dawson in the role as Ahsoka Tano for the most part even if I didn't fall in love with her as much as I did Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan. I definitely want to see more of her though, because those lightsaber battle scenes were amazing, especially the opening and I loved how graceful and predatory her combat style looked which seems different from anything we have seen before in terms of other live action versions of Jedi.

I'm not sure about the Baby Yoda name reveal either, but its probably because we have all gotten so use to calling him Baby Yoda lol. I believe I can get use to it though.
