Characters that you miss/don't miss in Smallville...

I don't really miss anyone, though I'd love to Clark's mom to drop in, but Annette seems pretty happily busy these days. I don't miss Lana, but i mostly don't miss her story lines which have never been my fave, but i'm looking forward to her return and wonder how Lana and Clark will interact now that they've both gotten on with their lives. I would love for Lex to return briefly, but i don't think he's needed on a weekly basis anymore. SV has adapted well to losing most of their cast, better than I expected:)

I'll hop in here before the Lana Haterz take over. :D

Speaking as a big fan of KK and Lana, I do miss her presence on this show, just as I miss MR/Lex.

But... I also understand that story-wise, after 8 seasons of Lana and Clark being used as a source of doomed angst, the show HAD to move on. Once they cast a Lois Lane on this show, and continued to have her as a regular, Lana's days were numbered. That's just common sense for a show based on an established mythology that is working towards embracing that mythology more than ever in this possibly last season.

So, yes, I do miss her presence on this show, a lot even, it feels like a different show to me this season without Lex and Lana. Fortunately, I think they've done wonders with Erica's Lois Lane and her interactions with Clark. The show needed a heavy dose of "fun" and those two are always entertaining to watch. I'm not one who really feels a lot of romantic chemistry between them, but I like Lois enough to be able to roll with it anyway. Erica has really stepped up to the plate and hit a home run in terms of embracing this role in a much more layered way than she was initially. I love her serious and thoughtful moments with Clark, more than her snark, really. I'm glad they are showing us more and more of that. It goes well towards establishing a believable relationship between these two people as "soulmates" in the future.

I'm kind of dreading Lana's return, not because of the expected rantings from those who consider her a threat to the new direction of the show, but because I'm worried the writers will fall into their old habits of using her inconsistently as a story device, as opposed to a consistent characterization. For instance, I don't want to see 5 episodes of Lana showing us ONCE AGAIN, why she and Clark aren't *meant to be*. WE GET IT ALREADY. I think the new powers have done a bang-up job so far of progressing all the characters, and I hope they stick to that formula for Lana Lang, as opposed to dragging her back to square one.

SV fans have always defended SV's penchant for taking the mythology and putting their own twist on it, and I'm really hoping that they won't put Lana and Lois in a cliche' catfight situation over Clark. If anything, SV has established several times that Lana is willing to sacrifice what she wants (Clark) for what's best for Clark and his destiny. I'm hoping that there's a continued acknowledgment of that from her - even in regards to Lois - before she leaves.

I do think that for losing 2 of their original 3 leads, the show has done an amazing job so far.

But yeah... the chemistry between TW and KK is, and always was, incomparable to any other on the show. Those SV folks have a fantastic track record when it comes to casting for this show.

Quoted for truth, although I like Lois a lot more than you do...

I don't really miss anyone, not even Lex or Lana, I like what they've done so far this year.

Although I waxed a bit nostalgic at the beginning of the season for the loss of their characters, I don't really feel there's a gap in the show because of them not being in it anymore.

I think Prey was a bit regrettable in terms of character development taking a back seat to story expedience and I think they missed the boat for large parts of Toxic, but for the most part I am still loving the show.

I've got to admit that I do miss Lex, Lionel, Jonathon and to a lesser extent Martha. I wouldn't mind any of them popping back in some form or another.

Having said that, I do think that the show has moved on very well without them

What this season has done so far, I haven't missed Lex, Lionel or Lana at all.

Don't get me wrong, Ive enjoyed all their performances over the years, but PS3 is doing something right....

I feel so lost but what does PS3 mean/stand for? I've seen it before and never was quick witted enough to figure it out.

Playstation 3. :p

But in this case, I think it's the new creators of the show? Maybe all three have the initials PS?

I really, really miss Alicia, even though she was only in three episodes she was the hottest of all the girls on the show, if I were Clark i would totally run off with her back in season 4. He´s such an idiot sometimes ;)

5. Don't Miss = Weekly Lex
4. Don't Miss = Ma Kent
3. Don't Miss = Freak of the Weak Throwaway Episodes
2. Don't Miss = Lana Lang
1. Don't Miss = Miller & Gough...coincidence the best season is the one they aren't in control of??? Nope.

Miss
- Lionel (only one of the coolest characters)
- Lex
- Jonathan and Martha

Don’t miss
- Pete
- Lana: I like her, but the show needs (needed to years ago) to move on with no return.

Martha Kent (What happened to her? I don't want to see her every episode cause, isn't she in Washington? But it'd be nice for her to visit her son once in a while.)

Johnathan Kent (Miss him in a sentimental sense and if they brought him back to life somehow I wouldn't be hurt and he and his wife can run the Kent farm so Clark can spend more time in Metropolis and move on with his life...of course, he can always speed back for some of his mom's home cooking.)

Lional Luthor (Good actor. Good Character. But we all knew he had to die at some point and I'm glad he's gone and we can all be sure that Lex is evil.)

Pete (His knowledge of Clark's powers seems like a loose end...Doesn't he marry Lana and become Lex's VP in the comics? Be a nice way for Lana to move on...she could find love and marry, then wouldn't be a love interest for Clark.)

Lex (He doesn't seem like he's actually gone despite not actually appearing in every episode...which is great. Because he doesn't need to be in every episode for him to be one of the biggest threats to Clark)

JLA (I'll just lump them all into this. GA, Aqua, Cyborg, Bart, and MM. Good supporting cast...glad we met them. GA is great to have around still. I'm happy that they arn't stealing the focus of the show because it'd be amazing for them to have their own show. Happy that MM appears every once in a while as a detective and is helping Clark achieve his destiny. Which pretty much everyone but Clark knows what that is.)

Kara (I liked her, but we don't need to see Supergirl before we get Superman. And I hope she finds Kandor so that Brainiac can shrink it and Superman can blame himself and promise to do something about it but never actually get around to doing it. PS: I liked the wearing the S pendant over your shirt at the end.)

Lana Lang (Great to have known you and see you throughout the years...now go away and get married to Pete or something. I don't know what you're going to do, but for the time being, I'd like you to do it offscreen so Clark can actually have time to move on from you...you are permitted to show up in the future so long as you aren't just a stumbling block for Clark.)

Chloe the side-kick (You probably don't exist anymore because Clark made the decision for you to not know his powers anymore. We'll see if you exist at all or what the heck they're doing with this whole Doomsday/Chloe/Jimmy Marriage thing. I salute you for kicking Clark in the pants and not breaking your foot on his super-powered butt.)

Meteor Freaks and Zoners (I don't actually miss you or your short lived story lines...the Injustice League thing shows promise though...good luck with that.)

Whiny Clark who doesn't help anyone but his friends and is emotionally distrought over something about his relationship or lack thereof with Lana (I'm glad you realize that more people need your help than just your immediate group of friends and that Lana is being phased out.)

The Batman (He's doing fine in his own films and doesn't need to play in the Smallville universe until Clark actually becomes the Superman we all know he could be if they let him finish his training, put on the suit with the cape and the big S, and do a little more than be faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive and be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound...Clark needs to be Superman and fly and inspire us all to be "a little more like Clark.")
