40 lbs in 4 months is ridiculous unless they were using steroids. Even most professional lifters are happy with gaining half a pound in a week. 2 lbs doesn't happen naturally. I don't like to say something is impossible but this is.

I personally don't think he even has to be that big. 5 lbs of muscle in the right places can make a big difference. Its not like Murdock is that big in comparison to a lot of other heroes. He's supposed to be a martial artist, he doesn't need to be huge.
