Yeah, that's just it, I don't design my everyday virus outfit to look like a G.I. Joe vs. Cobra reject but that's how it played out, and I bring my own protection because in the city at night with the pandemic, there are so few on the streets and the police seem few and far between, especially once the sun goes down. So the whole thing has a very Mad-Max/Walking Dead vibe to it. Oh, also finally ran out of the white colored masks so... broke out the black ones. So... Yeah, looking shady all over.

I'm probably being a bit naïve with how some US police forces seem to overreact but …. could you carry a written statement that you're on your way to work with the address and that you're happy to be escorted there and hand your weapons in if there is any doubt as to your intentions? Just thinking out loud really.

I'm probably being a bit naïve with how some US police forces seem to overreact but …. could you carry a written statement that you're on your way to work with the address and that you're happy to be escorted there and hand your weapons in if there is any doubt as to your intentions? Just thinking out loud really.

Actually I lobbied the job to do just that when this started, and it seemed the lockdown would be more draconian than it turned out to be. I was sure for a stretch at the start the Gov. would call for a shelter in place. So we do have "transit papers" as it were.


Not that I'm into the paranormal at this point in my life BUT... late last year, long before Covid, I had a really strange dream about being at the job when suddenly there was a sea of people outside. Like a parade size gathering. Upon closer inspection it was some kind of riot. The dream went on from there but it spooked me at the time.

Just hold your breath and keep your eyes closed. The worst part is the smell. Also if you're claustrophobic it can be a little....unsettling.

FYI Loungers I'm in SoHo, below Union Square in Manhattan. It's really been dead at night for months. The streets are currently filled to parade capacity outside literally just like my dream. Sirens everywhere and now the group outside is stopping. I'm talking hundreds. Right now.

The group outside, and again, this was like a parade size group, started to break the windows of the stores across the street. Called my super and barricaded the doors as best as I could but I'm out in the open really. The bench against the door entrance won't do much and the big 20 by 6 glass window will take all of 5 seconds and a tire iron to breach.

The police herded the group up further north along Lafayette. Could be they were coming from or going to someplace specific. If they are going uptown I would hazard some are making a run for Trump Tower again.

I don't have any recourse other than, what...? Abandon my post? That's all I could do against a mob of people. The building only has maybe 7-8 people in it tops but still... A fire or people deciding to storm through...? This is getting real. Sirens and helicopters are all you hear along with windows being broken.

I have no clue what I'll do if this area gets swarmed by protestors again and they can't get moved on.

That is exactly what you do. I am not sure what kind of building you are in, but can you communicate with those in the building with you? Make it clear that if the building is breached, you all need to get the hell out of there?

Not really. Where would I go? Mom and gram are two states away and they are prime for reacting bad to Covid.

This is more immediate. Like I am sure I'm far from any real "action" but I'm seeing more cop cars on the streets than I've seen in a very long time. Cops just pulled up to the store across the street. Alarm went off from the broken window. Crazy. Four cop cars responding to this.

Rolling on the street in front right now? NYC Corrections Buses. That's right. BUSES. So they are transporting either cops to the front lines or these are being used for the oncoming swarm of arrests the police are going to make.

I just got off the phone with the super again and there were some tenants coming in. Helicopters are deafening right now. No one in front. I've locked the inside gates that lead to the stairs and locked the elevator that leads to common areas.

Apparently, the hardest thing in the world to get right now is a set of chalk pastel crayons. Last month, I ordered one off Amazon, and it was stopped and turned back at the Canadian border for some reason. I ordered it from Michaels for curbside pickup, and they just cancelled it for no reason. The universe does not want me to have these.
