oh its definitely going to get worse.... but the looting... the fires... wtf
looting a dollar tree???? what? someone needed a kitkat bar that bad?
**** like this is inevitable when a system decides it's going to turn a blind eye or worse to abuse and oppression. I know it's not popular to say this, but it's a terrible truth. If you looked at the history of just the last 10 years, five years, this was coming.
I am not one that is cheering on the destruction and it will hurt more than help any kind of progress to clean up policing in America. At this point though, even with the death and destruction I can't act surprised, horrified and cluth at my pearls. We passed that phase a very long time ago. This was predictable. Completely predictable.
The violence solves jack **** and will not further the aims of protestors (which is not the same up and down the line as a group as those looting and rioting blindly) and it is not accomplishing much other than burning stores, killing and making communities and individuals poorer... But at this point in time, with the way America as a whole handles it's problem with systemic racism, we are asking for more of these events to happen even more regularly if we don't stop acting like there's no problem.
Not a rant against you personally Reek. It's just I hear that lament all the time and more so today obviously. I get it. I hate chaos and violcnce and it's not constructive to just lash out and endanger other people's lives, jobs and property. But I can't think about how we just kept trying to sweep the **** that makes events like this go down under the rug. People who have been experiencing real government abuse at the hands of the same people that took guns to the statehouse and suffered no consequences were gonna have a breaking point, especially when the gun toting group (Complaining about haircuts lets remember...) got handled with kid gloves and the unarmed protestors got beat, gassed and shot at.
