Cinemabros Assemble! The Letterboxd Thread

There's something unwholesome about movie nerds believing their opinions matter:

Just saw that Boondock Saints has a 3.4 rating and I’m starting to wonder if Letterboxd has an edgelord problem. :o
No, but seriously, how is this possible? How does this piece of **** have a higher rating than the first X-Men?

I still to this day never finished Boondock Saints.

I think I only got about 20 minutes into it before quitting.

I'm three films away* from hitting 2,000 films logged on Letterboxd. I'm torn between my 2000th being a classic I haven't seen yet like Bridge on the River Kwai or Network or just going the opposite end of the spectrum and watching a Neil Breen movie to mark the milestone.

*there are a few miniseries and short films in there so I use the word "films" loosely but it still counts :o

I would go with Niel Breen. :o

I have over 4,000 but I didn't get a chance to do the big milestone since I imported all my logged films from another account.

I was careful last year about what movie I wanted for my year/diary milestone once I figured out after my 50th logged film was to have it be all horror.

I started with a mediocre/sh***y horror film and I ended it with a mediocre/sh***y horror film. :o

I've only ever seen clips of his stuff on YouTube but I'm definitely curious.

The Boondock Saints is worth it for the comedy gold that is Overnight.

I still dont understand the use of the heart button.
My definition of the heart keeps changing. Now it's almost like an additional half-star that I'll throw in with, for example, a two-star film that I liked more than a two-star film without a heart. Six months from now it might mean something else, smh.

I basically use it as a way to say "I liked/loved this movie" regardless of my rating. There's also the rare occasion where I'll give a movie 5 stars but I wouldn't necessarily go so far as to say I loved it, like Strangers on a Train or Casablanca.

I give a heart if I enjoyed the flick and I usually do that (or not) right off the bat as I log a film. The rating is secondary.

I recently watched Warfare and Night of the Lviing Dead. Both got hearts, but one gotta 2.5/5 and the other got a 4.5/5.

IMO, it’s for if I like/respect it but, for whatever reason, can’t possibly try to quantify how much.

See: The Fifth Element.
