Ok, this is an adjustment to a recent theory of mine. It's crazy, but entirely plausable, if you ask me.

It's being heavily hinted that Spiderman will give up his identity. My theory is that he will, indeed go through with it. His rogues, seeing this as a golden opportunity, will strike at, and kill, MJ and Aunt May. Devestated by the consequences of pushing Peter into the Pro-Registration side, Tony Stark will give Peter the technology he used to erase his identity from everyone's minds, making Peter's identity completely secret once again, and making him single. This would do exactly what Joe Quesada's been hinting.

What do you guys think?

That, and then the Venom symboiate attaches onto Peter and he goes ape-****.

and he can date black cat seeing as all of his other girlfriends are eather married or dead.

Although that sounds real plausable and actually good, I hope not. Peter has already been through so much already: Parent's death, being bullied most of his life, Uncle Ben getting killed, having to be spider-man, Gwen's death, Aunt May's suppossed death, I think Peter and MJ lost a baby, MJ's suppossed death, I think Aunt May did die another time.
I just keep thinking marvel is sitting at a conference table thinking "how can we screw this guy's life up more?"
Maybe they'll just kill Aunt May or almost kill Aunt May and MJ, stopped right before they get away with it by the Avengers or something.

What I would like to see is that, at least for a year, some heroes like Spider-Man register with SHEILD and serve as super agents. Spider-Man, feeling like it is his responcibility to be Spider-Man but also protect his family, would sign up and be one of their super agents.
and then some heroes are respected as real heroes and other are illegal vigilantees.

I think Marvel has a yearly competition to see who can have the worst life: Matt Murdock or Peter Parker. Matt's been kicking ass for the last 5 years or so, but it looks like the Spider-Office has an Ace up its sleeve. :spidey:

Joey Q has already stated that he won't be divorcing or killing Mary Jane, since its counterproductive to what he wants.

killing Peter Parker and taking Mary Jane for himself?
That Joey is one sick bastard

what does he want? does he know what he wants?

He wants Peter to be single, but not to be a widower or divorcee...in other words, the impossible :o

so it will be revealed that the priest who married pete and mj was really green goblins stepbrother-in-law and their marriage is illegetimate????

He also said dead is dead (Bucky) and depowered is depowered(Iceman and Angel).

So Peter won't divorce MJ, and she won't be killed??

How in the hell can he stopped being married to MJ then? Joey Q really needs to start using his head.

"Oh Scarlet Witch, Scarlet Witch, we need your crazy super powers and crazy mental problems for a second."

Don't :(

He said he simply changed his mind on dead is dead, and Angel was never depowered.

sounds too much like The Flash from a year or so back. Wally's wife Linda was attacked by a supervillain due to his secret identity being public knowledge, which led to the Spectre erasing said identity from everyone's mind.

Exactly, he might simply change his mind again.

Yeah, but I'm not sure he would on this one. This seems a lot more important to him than dead is dead ever was.

Probably. Heres the thing. He either needs to shut up about liking Peter single more, or actually do something about it. I dont see how its productive talking about how crappy Peter Parker married is when youre the EIC.

And the simple way out of this bind right now was if they had kept Ben Reilly alive. Oh wait people hated him.

Maybe this is just another part of the clone saga, just kidding.
Maybe he will kill off people Tony Stark is close to, maybe his friends and family get slaughtered by one of his enemies and that changes his mind.

Neither is "I hate Speedball, I'm gonna kill him off." He does a lot of very un-EIC things, IMO. Quesada's argument is that Spidey would be more accesible to new readers if he was single and that there are more stories you could tell than if he was married. He says that him being married makes him older, divorced would push him up the age scale and a widower would be older still in terms of how people perceive him. At least he said that he told the writers that since he was going to be married that they should display a happy, stable marriage. Still, Quesada would very much like it if he WEREN'T married.

Oh, he also said that the purpose of the character IS/WAS to put him through as much crap as you could, have a little something good happen to him and then slap him with more crap.

I'm still on the fence as to what Peter will do. Even with the recent events unfolding, I don't see it as a given that Spidey will tell the world who he really is. The hypothesis on this thread is pretty sound, though and Marvel HAS done worse in the past, I guess it could be possible.

I thought that's what the Ultimate universe was for .

Hey, I agree with you but it still doesn't change how Quesada was spewing the same stuff over and over for a few weeks regarding the marriage.

Let me clarify: I thought that Ultimate Spidey was a teen and single to give brand new readers a Spider-Man they can connect to. So when Quesada goes on about wanting 616 Spidey to be single I want to say, "What's wrong with you, Joe? You've got Ultimate Spider-Man, leave the regular one alone!" And then I slap him silly. (just fantasizing)
