pg-13? Noooo

Oh well, i still have good expectations

The original script was R-rated, it had a lot of sex and violence, I guess like 300 but when rewrites were made and when Leterrier came aboard I think Warner Brothers wanted a much more profitable film so they went with Leterrier's pitch and the film became PG-13 as it would reach a larger audience which means more cash for the studio.

PG-13 has been confirmed by Leterrier a while back but in a recent interview he has said that the film pushes the limits of the rating because it apparently gets scary.

Like TDK? I like the sound of that.

I swear to God, this had me laughing so hard that I'm sweating and I'm pretty sure I popped some capillaries in my face. I've got those little red dots on my cheeks now. :awesome:

Will be in 3D, release date pushed to April 2

Warner Bros. will release the next two “Harry Potter” films in 3D.

Early 3D-conversion tests on Warners’ remake of “Clash of the Titans” have gone so well that -- combined with boosted enthusiasm for 3D in the wake of the “Avatar” tsunami -- the Burbank studio has decided to release not only “Titans” but also the two-part “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” in 3D.

Warners refused to confirm the decision Tuesday, but an announcement on “Titans” is expected by week’s end, and official word on the “Potter” pics surely will follow.

Conversion expenses have been coming down, so each film will cost just $5 million to convert into 3D.

Warners also will absorb an additional $5 million expense per pic to pay for 3D glasses for exhibitors handling the movies.

In a related move, Warners will push back the release date of “Titans” one week to April 2. “Deathly Hallows: Part I” is set to unspool on Nov. 19, and “Part II” is slotted for July 15, 2011.

Lame

I hope my local theatre has a 2D version playing.

Ugh. The negative aspect of Avatar's success is that now every blockbuster film must be 3D or a studio.

I thought you needed a lot of time to convert to 3-D?

Unless they are only going to make a limited number and target certain larger cities.

the problem is that those movies are not made in 3D but converted. it will be cheap bad stereoscopic 3D.
Tron was filmed with the fusion cameras. no problem there. but i want to watch Clash of the titans and HP in 2D. and i will .

the masses will find out that the fake 3D is not good. but it will take some time.

you need a lot of time and money to make a good job on the fake 3D. it still isnt even close to the 3D like in Avatar ir Tron. but its somewhere there.

but this quick job is is not good.

You don't know that.
Secondly i thought the 3d in the last potter movies was VERY well done.
And 3rd the fact that they're talking about they're taking a different way of cnverting the images with better quality.

a new way of converting? interesting. maybe they have better software that helps them with the work.thats good for them. :yay:

but they still need to seperate objects and characters with rotoscoping. and they need to build a lot low poly 3D objects .

if they would work on the conversion for 6 months i would pay the ticket and give it a try. 2 months? i wouldnt watch this even if it was free.

Who says it's taking them 2 months ?

Yeah, I think I will also watch COTT in 2D; not every movie needs to be in 3D to be good.

yeah...making a film 3D in post-production sucks compared to just filming a movie in 3D. i remember watching the trailer for 3D Alice in Wonderland and thinking to myself "it's just not the same!" it was 3D, but within the 3D everything looked flat. almost as if they were paper objects in 3D space.

if there's one thing i wish studios would do concerning 3D in film it would be to require that the film be shot in 3D or not be 3D at all. when you get this half-assed, post-production 3D crap then you're taking something that's supposed to be used artfully (Avatar) and cheapening 3D to a gimmicky level.

Like with the Potter 3-D news -- just a lame money grab, and a movie I'll see in 2-D. The one-week push back to April 2nd doesn't bother me, they need extra time for the 3-D conversion

whats funny with ALice is that Burton didnt want to film it with the 3D cameras but Disney wanted a 3D realese. so Burton composed and created gimmicky shots . i saw at least 10 shots in the trailer. only in the trailer. i understand that he likes to do hes movies with film. but did they force him to film all those obvious. 3D shots? it will be a pain to watch this in 2D for me.

the movie comes out in april. they didnt start working full on this last year right?

Post-production was being done in parallel with shooting also the 3D conversion tests have been on and off so we don't know how many completed 3D converted scenes they have but I guess it will be all gung-ho on the conversion process now that Warner Brothers have given the green light.

Leterrier has said that the 3D team from Avatar are working on the 3D in this film and that they want the 3D to look right but he did say that it would be stuff coming out of the screen because originally this film was 2D only so he shot the film with only 2D in mind which means scenes where there is buildings breaking, monsters flying about, etc... would be okay but now that the film is gonna be in 3D as well there normal 2D shots will look like gimmick 3D shots.

interesting.

The fact that some of the 3-D guys from Avatar are working on COTT is reassuring, but still not thrilled with the 3-D prospect.
