pg-13? Noooo
Oh well, i still have good expectations
The original script was R-rated, it had a lot of sex and violence, I guess like 300 but when rewrites were made and when Leterrier came aboard I think Warner Brothers wanted a much more profitable film so they went with Leterrier's pitch and the film became PG-13 as it would reach a larger audience which means more cash for the studio.
PG-13 has been confirmed by Leterrier a while back but in a recent interview he has said that the film pushes the limits of the rating because it apparently gets scary.
