I read this during school today. Damn, poor Leterrier. This is the second time a big studio's ****ed him over. The original shooting script wouldn't have been a classic, but undoubtedly better than the theatrical cut.
Yeah, well, Louis had a hand in those reshoots and never made a fuss about either of the two movies during press time. He only laments about studio interference until well after a movie is released, and by then he's had time to find out the general consensus is his products sucked.

If he willingly becomes a studio doormat for mainstream success, he's just as much to blame.

I know..It's Devin from Chud again, but this time, he has a great article about 'Clash' and the difference between the version that we saw, and the version that was cut:

The question if did Letterier really was able to make the scenes as good as they sound on paper.
Also i do find it odd that WB & Legendary who have given guys like Nolan free reign on BB & TDK ,as well as Singer with Supes AND Zach Snyder with 300 & Watchmen ....that these guys ultimately screwed up a ( what sounds like) a very mature greek mythology movie.
This usually was the stuff that Fox did in the past but WB

those huge numbers are not helping us out. WB as a studio won right?

Well no :hehe:

2. CLASH OF THE TITANS (Warner Bros) Week 2
Friday $7.8M (-70%), Estimated Weekend $25.5M, Estimated Cume $109M

Thank God (or is it Zeus?) this movie flopped in the second week.

The movie will make it's budget back. BUt there won't be sequel. And to be honest with or without 3-d , the movie would've still dropped like a rock.Hopefully this will send a message of WB not to make a movie with half assed or in some cases completely absent 3-d.

The original was one of the first films I ever saw. :yay:

Is this anything like 300? Because 300 sucked. :/

I would say no in the sense this is so bad it makes 300 look like Kubrick directed it in comparison.

Both of them are style over substance, but at least 300 had characters you remembered an hour later.

Could there've been a sequel? COTT seems like a one n done.

Except the heavy handed line at the end about Hades being back. Overall, I liked it and was entertained. Saw it in 2-d so didn't have to deal with the headache of bad 3-d. The only downside was the shoe-horning of bring back Io. But I didn't mind he fell in love with her instead of the princess. She did spend most of the journey with him, where he only met Andromeda once so it would be hard to buy them together, even if mythology had them that way.

Mads Mikkelsen was great in it, and Worthington did well, even if it was pretty one-note.

70%! That's a massive drop off, ah .... my faith in humanity is somewhat restored.

I felt the film was clearly setting up an intended franchise, Zeus words to PErsues at the end, as well as Hades basically just becoming an established bad guy, and with the witches prediction of Perseus dying at the end of his quest their is clearly more to the story.

That will probably never reach the screen, somewhat thankfully given the ineptness of this production.

Worse films have been given sequels. Just remember that folks.

Don't forget Batman and Robin and Catwoman. Is it just now people are finding out WB does stuff like this.Fanboys focus all their hate on Fox while they ignore when other movie studios do it

I haven't seen this yet, and i don't think i will..unless it comes on tv..........one day.

Why is Hollywood always trying to re-invent the wheel? Halloween, 'Nightmare on Elm Street'.......some movies never need re-makes. Imo Clash is one of them; yeah, the original had dated F/X, but so what? It was PG and we still got some nice boob and ass shots, to go along with the cool looking monsters! :D

I mean, I don't have a problem with them doing 1000 redos of the Perseus story since no one owns the myth. But in this case, it just came across as some fans of the original movie wanting to use the same imagery to tell a completely different story. Pegasus wasn't even necessary. Calibos was an afterthought. Andromedea was even worse than a damsel in distress, she was weak.

the point of a remake should be to do it better...I dont think this version is better than the original. This movie was too complicated and probably could have used a script polishing.

I just watched a review on spill.com and one of the points was Madusa shouldn't of been wearing a bikini top , lol. Hollywood has always been re-inventing the wheel though.

Not bad IMO. But not as good as the original. Then again what remake is?

A sequel has been announced already, right? I read somewhere that COTT and Tron: Legacy have already been greenlit for sequels.

just got back from it, there was a few good things but mostly it was pretty bad. The director and screenwriter had no faith on Sam Worthington they basically gave him almost 0 lines. Liam was good, not his best though but made the film a little bit better (that's a scientific fact btw lol ) and I kinda hated Gemma Arterton who played Io at the beginning because she was a bit annoying but sorta appreciated her at the end.
I gave it a 5/10

Me and my friends laughed at Gemma at the beginning cause she would just pop up randomly on screen or that one shot where she was walking through the woods, she just seemed kinda......weird.
