The Dark Knight Cliffhanger?? Maybe NOT shown to the press??

Well this thread made it to 26 posts, JMalone...I'm officially jealous! lol :cwink:

Haha I think I just worded it well enough that they're still debating what to do..

Because this idea of keeping scenes that don't pull away from the film, so press can see the film with beginning, middle, and end, yet not all the shots.. Probably makes even the mods wonder..

not gonna happen
if it does kudos to you

Well, I just read/listened to a few more reviews, and I can see where one might get the idea that Two-Face might indeed be a wasted character, but I still don't have anything conclusive enough for me to believe it fully. Luckily for me, the only way I'll ever know for sure is to see it for myself...just over two weeks, people!!! :yay:

Yes, the story arc will follow Harvey's rise and fall, and his fall being, his transformation into two-face. I really don't want him to be dead, only because I think its a good character to keep. He is like bruce, except he has a very public duality and handles justice a bit harsher than batman. But I do feel as if he may infact die, only because Nolan doesn't do the whole thinking ahead to other films thing. In all his glory, and I am not knocking him, but Harvey's fall would have been that much more emotional if he had been introduced in Begins. But honestly, and especially in Batman, quit killing these guys! That's what Arkham is for. As it going right now, Schumaker actually killed less villians. In forever, he killed two-face(but that was god awful anyway) and the riddler lived. Then in the film that we shall not name, I believe all the villians survived that one. The worst was Burton, he killed almost all of them. But maybe, just maybe there is a scene after the movies of something, to hint at(that is if he doesn infact die) two-face living. And for that matter, I don't see him physically die, then I will assume he's not dead. Just like I will assume that Scott Sommers is still alive, but that's neither here nor there.

I don't see Two-face dying, but I do like the idea of the studio holding just a little something back for the theatrical release, just a quick 15-30 second clip after the credits is all you need to get fans even hungrier for me...for instance like in IM.

if i hear one more love letter about the riddler im going to f**king kill us ALL.

billie jeanis not my lover...she just a girl who claims i am the one...

she claims i am the one...

I agree with this concept. I think Nolan is getting revenge for the leaking of the Begins script on the net last time around, for one thing. And he is pulling off one of the greatest hoaxes ever, by creating a "fake" ending so that word would leak out about two-face's death. Of COURSE Nolan knew full well the ending would spread like wildfire no matter what the reviewers were told.

I suggested this to Moriarty over at AICN as well. Glad to see some sharp people over here raising this possibility. The more I think about it, the more it seems like the brilliant sort of thing Nolan and company would do, along with all the other brilliant filmmaking and marketing that's going on.

I'll bet if anyone asks Ekhart about his character's death, he STILL won't talk about it, even after the reviewers have seen the film. He knows he shot two endings, and he does not want to go anywhere near that. Read between the lines and watch how wide a berth he gives that subject.

All this is of course GREAT marketing. What a huge buzz this will generate, when the ending does not match the rumor. Nolan learned a lot about selling an illusion, when he made The Prestige.

"He'll solve this little riddle"??

"Meow"????

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone needs to be tapped with the Ban Hammer for creating these alternate ending threads.

Ummm, I'm not entirely certain that you are serious but here's the deal. Do you really think Nolan is going to show the critics an alternate version of the film? The critics are going to see the same film we are as they are the ones whose word of mouth will get around to the general public. Nolans not going to risk a fake ending for the critics when it could effect thier feelings about the overall movie. That's just silly. This all sounds like severe denial to me.

Actually, YOU seem to be in denial here. All I am talking about is that this could be a bold and brilliant marketing move - a great prank, done in the spirit of the film. I'm hardly alone - others obviously agree.

NO ONE, and let me repeat, NO ONE is predicating their critical take on the film on whether Harvey lives or dies, or even whether that is left somewhat ambiguous. Not a single review has said 'the best thing about the film is Dent's death' or 'I like that they killed off Dent', or anything like that. It's all about Ledger. Nolan is savvy enough to know that, and WB has had the stones to go way out on a limb with its marketing, relying on tricks rarely if ever tried before, all based on an ardent fan base. They have not played it safe so far, and you have nothing to base your "Nolan's not going to take risks" assertion on. They are, in fact, taking risks left and right both with the making of the film (not pandering to the Spiderman crowd) and in its marketing.

Most critics will applaud having had the wool pulled over their eyes, and will take it in the nihilist spirit of the film. That's no more taking a chance than taking the chance of making ANY film and hoping for public acceptance. It comes with the territory, and it's all part of the plan.

I can't believe someone's on here talking about a chance a great director like Nolan would not take. Talk about DENIAL.

The movie ends like this:

Batman is driving back to his hideout. All of a sudden, he almost has an accident because of a black cat crossing over. He stops just in time, looks around for the cat, but he sees a sexy woman in leather, holding the cat. She just smiles. We see Batman's look on his face and the screen cuts to black.

It seems to me after all the rumors and speculation about the end of the movie caused by these press screenings that something isn't right. So I decided to start this post and get a little intelligent debate going on..

With this film, and the heavily followed films released in the last few years, the studios are extremely well aware of the pervasiveness of the internet and all these message board, sites, etc.

Is it possible the "press" didn't see the final cut? Maybe they were missing a cliffhanger scene like The Joker at the end of Begins??

Maybe after
Batman's getting chased by the police
we see the remaining mob members trying to find a way to hide out Batman's identity and take him out when a guy goes "I know just the guy.. He's a little on the freak side, but he'll solve this little riddle.." or after
Batman drives off into the distance
a black figure is on a rooftop and we hear 'meow' or a mob member walks into the Iceberg Lounge to speak with a guy who can help with their bat problem..

I just find it hard to believe they were so smart with all these films, yet they allowed all these spoilers to leak on to the internet without hiding something from "the press" just for us.

What'd ya think??

Don't get your hopes up. I remember all of us thaught the same exact thing about X3 and we all know how that turned out...

theres NO Riddler refrence in the movie

this is still up, wow :hehe:

Wow...just...wow...all of this is ridiculous. C'mon guys!! It makes no sense whatsoever!! Maybe a little something after the credit, or a small 30sec. thing, you know, a-la Batman Begins ending, they could have cut for the press... but, what's the point seriously? I don't think there is any "big hoax" or anything, it just seems ridiculous and useless to me.

David Letterman says everybody dies. Maybe he was right.

ever since the end of Begins and the reveal of the Joker card, people have been wanting a similar tease at the end of TDK involving a certain female character who likes...ahem..."puddin." but i personally haven't heard any confirmation from those whom have been to the press screenings.
