Haha I think I just worded it well enough that they're still debating what to do..
Because this idea of keeping scenes that don't pull away from the film, so press can see the film with beginning, middle, and end, yet not all the shots.. Probably makes even the mods wonder..

I agree with this concept. I think Nolan is getting revenge for the leaking of the Begins script on the net last time around, for one thing. And he is pulling off one of the greatest hoaxes ever, by creating a "fake" ending so that word would leak out about two-face's death. Of COURSE Nolan knew full well the ending would spread like wildfire no matter what the reviewers were told.
I suggested this to Moriarty over at AICN as well. Glad to see some sharp people over here raising this possibility. The more I think about it, the more it seems like the brilliant sort of thing Nolan and company would do, along with all the other brilliant filmmaking and marketing that's going on.
I'll bet if anyone asks Ekhart about his character's death, he STILL won't talk about it, even after the reviewers have seen the film. He knows he shot two endings, and he does not want to go anywhere near that. Read between the lines and watch how wide a berth he gives that subject.
All this is of course GREAT marketing. What a huge buzz this will generate, when the ending does not match the rumor. Nolan learned a lot about selling an illusion, when he made The Prestige.
Ummm, I'm not entirely certain that you are serious but here's the deal. Do you really think Nolan is going to show the critics an alternate version of the film? The critics are going to see the same film we are as they are the ones whose word of mouth will get around to the general public. Nolans not going to risk a fake ending for the critics when it could effect thier feelings about the overall movie. That's just silly. This all sounds like severe denial to me.
It seems to me after all the rumors and speculation about the end of the movie caused by these press screenings that something isn't right. So I decided to start this post and get a little intelligent debate going on..
With this film, and the heavily followed films released in the last few years, the studios are extremely well aware of the pervasiveness of the internet and all these message board, sites, etc.
Is it possible the "press" didn't see the final cut? Maybe they were missing a cliffhanger scene like The Joker at the end of Begins??
Maybe afterwe see the remaining mob members trying to find a way to hide out Batman's identity and take him out when a guy goes "I know just the guy.. He's a little on the freak side, but he'll solve this little riddle.." or afterBatman's getting chased by the policea black figure is on a rooftop and we hear 'meow' or a mob member walks into the Iceberg Lounge to speak with a guy who can help with their bat problem..Batman drives off into the distance
I just find it hard to believe they were so smart with all these films, yet they allowed all these spoilers to leak on to the internet without hiding something from "the press" just for us.
What'd ya think??
Thats why everyone was laughing and he would have been in trouble if its trueDavid Letterman says everybody dies. Maybe he was right.
