The Dark Knight Coleman Reese (Riddler)

What were everyone's thoughts on this character? I really liked him and mainly because I thought he was, as everyone else has pointed out already, a nod to Riddler. The hair, the blackmailing antics, just the name Mr. Reese. (Mysteries)

Did everyone else consider the character as a homage to Riddler? Did you like him or hope to see him have a bigger role in the series, etc.

If it was meant to be a Riddler nod, he wasn't the style of Riddler I want to see. I want something more sophisticated and confident, and I want him to be the main threat.

The Animated Series had things rolling in a good direction for the character. I also liked him in the comic line connected to that show, as well as his role in Gotham City Sirens.

It's a little silly but at the same time it cant be a coincidence. Coming from Nolan, who likes to do amalgamations of different characters. Even giving them different names. The fact that Reese is on the board at Wayne Enterprises, has a quirky name, purple tie, similar hair, jealous of Bruce & wants to blackmail him. You dont think that's a nod? Is he Riddler? LOL no! That's beyond ridiculous. He's not literally him. But Blake was a nod to past Robins. Jen was a nod to Holly. And Ramirez was a nod to Montoya even though it's not her. Crispus Allen in Rises? There's a couple more but ill stop. Nolan does this all the time.

It's stupid, but I would enjoy TDKT so much more if Reese's name was Edward Nygma, and if John Blake's character was named Dick Grayson

I kinda agree, and id like to add another to that list. Tom Wilkinson playing Oswald Cobblepot instead of Carmine Falcone. He was pretty much Falcone by name, not really by character or look. Falcone always looked more like Vito Corleone and his children were a nod to that family too plus the connection to Selina Kyle. None of which were present. I think Wilkinson looks enough like a grounded Penguin, he could have even used his natural british accent. As for his look. They didnt have to do anything else. Maybe a top hat in a scene would have been a nice touch.

Having Cobblepot in Nolans universe instead of Falcone would have been great. Like in the new Gotham series, he's been controlling things in Gotham for a long time. He's all arrogance but really is a coward who is afraid of the Bat. Batman's first appearance shaking down PENGUIN and throwing him up on the future bat signal would have been even more powerful for the fanbase, and even the general audience. What Crane does to Falcone later would also be a bigger deal. It would make Scarecrow seem more threatening since he's doing it to a large character like Penguin.

But we cant change the past. And i still love to hate Falcone in Begins. So it's not a big deal. It's just a little wishlist kinda like the whole "i wish there was 1 actress as Rachel throughout".

My first thought is he wasn't Riddler heh. Second thought is it was good to see someone make the connection between W.E. and the Tumbler at last.
