Comics: Not just a boy thing?!

  • are you a girl and like comics? Yus
  • if so why do you think that is? Probably because my brother introduced them to me at an early age. He was 10 years older than me so, I worshiped him (kinda still do.) He's got a completely separate room and alarm system in his house now for all this comics. It's pretty ridiculous.
  • what your favourite comic? Batman with Joker arcs. That's what I was started on and stayed with consistently.
  • what do you think of the representation of women in comics? Honestly I don't really pay them much attention. The only women I ever like in comics are the villains. The others are boring. -totally sexist-
  • is sexism an issue? Most of the times guys don't usually think I know what I'm talking about or I'm grouped with fan girls and only like stuff because of movies if they didn't know me prior to a release.
  • should there be more titles for women? Meh. Like I said, I don't really care. The only series I've ever collected surrounding a female as the lead is Harley Quinn. Yeah. Major fail.
  • boys what do you think of the stereotype that boys only like comics? They DO make up a large percentage of fans.
  • Do you think male superheroes overpower the female ones? if so how? if not why? Like physically and mentally or that they're comics trump the heroin's comics? If it's the former - really it varies from series to series. If it's the later, in my opinion: hell yeah. The men dominate. Maybe it's because most girls annoy me in daily interactions, so I project their annoying tendancy's in to my comics. Who the hell knows.
  • Also, with more and more superhero movies coming out, and more titles being bought out such as Minx by DC, how much do YOU think the female audience will expand? is this a good thing? I think if you put a sexually desirable man on screen as any character, a girl's going to claim she's a fan and maybe that'll get her to break deeper in to awesome picture books. I dunno. Not everyone has someone to turn them on to awesome things, so Hollywood's making it fair. It's going to make it a lot harder for me to find my black knight in nerdy armor though, so I'm on the fence. :oldrazz:

Re: Comics: Not just a boy thing?!
Q.are you a girl and like comics?
A. Yep

Q.if so why do you think that is?
A. Comics makes you feel like the impossible may be possible and the fact Comics show a wide rang of imagination, which is really good.

Q.what is your favourite comic?
A. Currently, it's anything Superman. New Krypton, A World Without Superman, etc. But I started off with Batman arcs with Poison Ivy.

Q.what do you think of the representation of women in comics?
A. Well, most of the women act the same, slagging off with a male team-mate, dressing ridiculously for a superhero. Plus in Marvel Comics, most women seem to have telepathy and most men seem to lead teams. Only a few women in comics are well written.

Q.is sexism an issue?
A. Yes. Sl*tty girls aren't meant to become superheroes. Plus, there is a big controversy about girls reading comics. Why?

Q.should there be more titles for women.
A. Yes. Certainly. But not about relationships with other men, but about them kicking-ass!

Q.what do you think of this stereotypical that boys only like comics?
A. It's wrong.

Q.do you think male superheroes overpower the female ones? if so how? if not why? As in, are there more of them? There are definitely more male superheroes in terms of numbers.
A. I think it's ridiculous that if a male superhero is fighting a Villainess, that they should not 'trap' her or 'fool' her, but give her what she deserves, which is a good beating! If superheroes are fighting for whats right, then they need to fight women. Plus, women are mostly out-powered by their male counterpart, like Iron Man and Pepper Potts. It's certain there are more men than women, as well as the fact the male writers take female characters for granted.

Q. Also, with more and more superhero movies coming out, and more titles being bought out such as Minx by DC, how much do YOU think the female audience will expand? is this a good thing?
A. I think comics, overall, need more readers, but more female readers will certainly progress soon.

Q. also, um...would it be okay if i include your name and age in the article as i might use some of that?
