Community - Part 3

I think most can tell the show has gone downhill in quality and the tone and jokes are "off." Perhaps, there would not be as much complaining. But that does not change that this season feels very different.

The last episode didn't feel different from the previous seasons to me at all.

The first two shows my only major complaint was the feeling of trying to cram a lot of things in and the flow was awkward especially in the Halloween episode. This latest episode was the best one so far it flowed perfectly and was the funniest. Considering it seems to be getting pretty decent ratings (at least around the same level with Parks and Recreations which should be coming back for another season), 30 Rock and The Office going to be gone, the show quality remaining to steady hopefully it continues...I would actually have high hopes and would like to see it come back for another season. Guess we just have to wait and see how the rest of the season goes.

Agree to disagree. To me it felt like Happy Endings. That's not Community.

Also, I don't know what you're talking about. This week posted the worst ratings in the series' history. This is the last season, even Chang has already signed on to another pilot for next year.

The last week's ratings were a little over 3 million which has always kinda been around what it has gotten which is kinda the same numbers Parks and Recreations is putting up right now and I thought Parks was pretty much a sure thing for another season. Wasn't there also just recently some article concerning Community's future and it said it was looking good for it getting renewed? Also Chang has been surprisingly non-existent this season so far...he didn't really shift into that main character role like some people thought. He has only had one scene so far and he didn't even say a word so it isn't like Ken Jeong is one of the main players on the show he can do another show.

But still...I wouldn't be surprised if it is in fact the last season. But would love to see another season if they can keep up the quality which they have done pretty well so far.

Jeong has always had a fairly limited role in the show though. In fact, I like it that way, he's better in small bits.

I'd hate to see his character "barny'd" (how I met your mother). I think it nearly got to that point but seems either he or the character may go back to "bit" parts.

I just remember some people complaining about last season about how there was too much Chang and that they were afraid he was gonna remain a major character on the show.

Yeah I recall that too.
I'm most looking forward to whether or not they replace Chevy with anybody to fill that void.
Assuming the show lasts.

I hope this season has room in its pocket for a little spare Chang.

I agree that the first episode felt like it tried to do too much, but what it did still felt like Community to me. It still could have been funnier, the cut away into Abed's head was ok the first time, the idea was sound but the execution was poor. The Dean's part was just normal Dean behavior to me. And when I realized they were going to do the cut aways all episode, I wasn't pleased.

The second episode was much better but after the first few minutes, I felt something that I have never felt from watching a Community episode before. Once they started talking about Peirce being at home, I knew where the rest of the episode was going, it felt formulaic.

The third episode increased the feeling of a formula, it's like we're getting Community from Walmart now instead of the mom and pop shop.

Which isn't to say that is an inherently bad thing. Some people, who felt that the show used to get too out there at times, will be happy with the new direction, others not so.

I've only seen the first 2 episodes of this season but I really didn't find them funny at all.

I believe if nobody knew about the drama or that there was a new show runner then there wouldnt be as much complaining. :(
I'm not sure that's true. I've had multiple people who didn't know about the showrunner change ask me why this season is so different.

Eh... The group dynamic was there, but it felt hollow. The show kind of feels like it's just going through the motions.

I liked this weeks better than last so along with the Halloween episode.I have 2 episodes from this season that I don't hate.

Jokes fell completely flat, especially with Troy. But at least it took place at Greendale...

yeah... some solid lines (...almost 100 luft balloons / USA -> Burn Notice) and some solid laughs.

Chang should have stayed away. Sucks, they couldn't have got Nick Kroll back... Pierce electrocuting himself and the chairs collapsing was dumb. No need for the Harmon-esque "typewriter" thing in the middle either.

Highlight: Annie closing her shirt after Malcom said he had relations with a co-ed. Very minimal, and what I miss about this show.

e3 > e2 >> e4 >>>>>>>> e1.

This one was better. I did in fact laugh at a few things this time around.

Still not to the standard of what we've grown to watching the past 3 years though…

And frankly, we need more Britta Britta'ing things up. I feel like she's being wasted in this final season.

Then again, one could argue the entire group is being wasted. :o

Funniest episode of S4 so far.

I completely agree. I loved Pierce being upset that he is not the Hitler of the group, plus bringing back all the recurring characters for appearances.

However, this season needs more "CRISIS ALERTS!!!"
