Community - Part 3

Seems like Dan Harmon doesn't get along with a lot of people. That's not a great quality in the entertainment industry...

news articles are making it 100% clear that they will try to cahnge Community to something different. i hope that the series finale will not ignore the 3 years of character development.

The show is basically canceled. Without the major creative influence and most of the top writers, it'll be unrecognizable.

Which, in TV terms, probably means it will be turned in to something like all of the other sitcoms out there. The charm of Community is that it is different then the others and goes against the grain most of the time. When they start thowing around words like "broaden its appeal" it makes me very nervous.

If it returns to the tone of season one then I'm fine with that. That season was the highest rated and had some of my favourite episodes.

It was a great show then that foreshadowed (Goodfellas, Paintball) what was to come in seasons two and three (zombies, stop motion, documentaries, 7 timelines, the dreamatorium and more film/TV show parodies). If it tries to be something different then what has comes before could destroy whatever core fanbase is left. Maybe they should focus on just having episodes take place on campus like season one did. While going off campus has been great, it could be something the show needs to remain on the air. But moving to Fridays paired with Whitney hurts the show a lot and even if it became more broad, no one will watching.

Pierce will get more screentime.

They will push a full blown Annie-Jeff romance.

They will drop Brittas stchick with her psych major and no longer make her the butt of jokes. They will relegate her character to how she was portrayed the first season.

Troy and Abed will no longer be as quirky and be 'normalized' to a degree.

Shirley and Dean Pelton will be relegated to the background.

We will get more Chang because that's what the suits think we want.

...that's what I see happening.

I like the second season of Happy Endings so if the showrunners did that I'm not to worried.
NBC and Sony must see some worth in the show or else they would of just cancelled it. Dan Harmon it seems burned to many bridges. Everyone knows Chevy Chase is a *****e but Harmon should of tried to handle the situation better.

Happy Endings is definitely a quirky show so I'm not worried that the showrunners will lose focus and stray away from the heart of Community. And given that the show alienates a broad range of viewers, I think we should all be grateful that we got three full seasons and an ending that the creator wanted. At least we know how Harmon would have ended things.

From Dan Harmon:

Stunning. Not surprising, but his blunt and confrontational approach is still surprising. While fans can enjoy him "sticking it to the man," it's this kind of open passive-aggressive anger that is probably why he got removed.

I'm still depressed about it though. Oh well.

Dan is funny, but Chevy is right....he can't run a show. A show runner's job is to keep things running smoothly, not instigate your actors.

And I think people are being a bit dramatic. Plenty of the show's writing staff remains. There won't be a laugh track. I'm sure these writers understood the tone of the show before they signed on. I'm not saying it will be as good, but it won't become a multi-camera, laugh track laced show.

It will probably become again the show that Sony/NBC originally wanted: a bland, unassuming sitcom about a community college. See the first six episodes of S1 before the Halloween episode.

I do agree though that Harmon behaved like a child with his Chase thing and what got him fired was entirely his own personality and inability to work with certain people. Still, if someone had to go, Chevy Chase was far more expendable for this show.

But the characters are so developed now, they do more than hang out at school. For example, to explore Jeff's father angle they're going to need to leave campus.

I kindda hope they keep up the whole Britta/troy thing for some reason. they're both so goofy at this point, it makes sense. and her personality makes me think she'll enjoy competing with Abed for Troy's affection...

I think I may be the only one here who actually enjoyed the first 6 episodes of season 1 :o

The pilot isn't the best but I enjoyed the others ones too but it wasn't until the Halloween episode where the show clicked with me, I watched that one twice.

nothing wrong with the first 6 episodes. i like them. i think that when community got more crazy they found gold.

''Hell, even Chevy had enough respect to pick up a phone.'' :woot:

I think they lost the balance for a little while. It got a bit too crazy, too obscure for its own good, but the end of the 3rd season was pure gold.

Last Thursday's final episode felt like a series finale and now I know why. An episode tacked on to wrap up the series after the big finale. It was.

chevy picking up the phone could mean he called him and left that voice mail. since I doubt he called him to say sucks you lost your show.
