Okay, so I think I'm starting to get this now .. what you seem to be saying is, guys look at girls as "girlfriend potential." If she's got girlfriend potential, then they don't want to be just friends. They'd rather not have anything to do with her. But if she doesn't have girlfriend potential, they they are okay being friends, I guess. But they still want to see her naked. t:

I've heard guys on here say they can be just friends with attractive women...but I honestly do not believe them. I don't think a guy can be "just friends" with an attractive girl...they will see something more in that "friendship". There will always be potential for that guy, to either hook up, or fantasize about it...whatever...it won't just be a buddy type thing.

I can be friends with women I'm not attracted to and talk to them without attraction getting in the way. I can't say the same thing about a woman I'm attracted to. Call it immaturity. Call it too much libido. I call it a guy being a guy.

I was sort of posting from the point of view of a single guy.

But being in a committed relationship doesn't turn off a man's attraction to an attractive female. Why would it and why should it? It might deter me from trying to establish a deep friendship with an attractive woman...as a preventative measure. But the attractive friends I do have, with me being in a committed relationship, are women I would definitely want to sleep with if I were single...no question.

Right, but you can't. And you're still friends with them(even if you aren't close). So it is possible.

But there are always lingering thoughts...what I'm saying is that men cannot prevent from having those thoughts. Whereas women often say that attraction to their male friends hasn't ever crossed their minds. Not possible with guys says I.

well if it's just sexual thoughts then it doesn't really matter. I mean it's bound to happen. But if they're more romantic thoughts and fantasies then it does get more complicated.


It's also possible that it happens with women just as much as men but they're more likely to lie/be denial. They hold most of the cards anyway when it comes to courting.

But yeah, you guys are over thinking this guy/girl friendship thing. Look at it from the perspective of a bisexual, does that mean that all human beings around them are suddenly sexual fodder?

I have guy friends and girl friends, yes some of them I am attracted to, but physical attraction does not equal relationship status. Don't take sex as the end all and be all of life. I like having friends of both sexes because you get different types of friendship, like a guy you can mess about and make crude jokes, and a girl you can, i dunno go shopping without them complaining

I used to have a HHUUUGGEE crush on a guy who is now one of my best friends, but i can see now the crush was just me misunderstanding the friendship with a guy. Friendship and love are very intertangled and I think the "girlfriend zone" is a lot worse than "Friend zone". It just limits so much how you are able to interact with that person

Exactly!! We still want to see her naked cause for the most part guys are dogs. My HR manager is a hottie,but after talking to her the other day and learning new things about her (I know she has a boyfriend) We aren't compatible..she likes the NY Yankees,Western movies,Texas and is a Republican who listens to Van Halen....I hate all the above,but she is nice and I would still wanna see her naked,even though she has a big ass. Pretty face though.
