I have a feeling, as I've stated previously, that if Clash of The Titans does enough dough at the b.o, this project will get to move alot faster, maybe even sooner.

Not sure what Clash of the Titans will look like, but if it even remotely resembles the Harryhausen film it would be IMO very unlike what Conan should be.

I eagerly anticipate the release of Solomon Kane. I expect that film will whet my Howard appettite, and perhaps spur on a correctly done Conan production.

Well, it's an epic sword & sorcery film(yes I know it's specifically Greek Myth, but you get my point:cwink:) with a sword-wielding hero who fights diverse type of mythical monsters, witches, has exotic elements, etc..

........basically, stuff you have with Conan lore.

Chicken,
I have a unpainted artist proof of Clayburns Barbarian statue. Only 15 in existance of the version I have.

Good to see so many are looking foward to a Conan film.

In spite of my dislike of what HBO is producing at the moment, I sort of think a series would better serve Conan, based on Howards stories. HBO has pretty high production values - a hour each. You wouldnt have to worry about stretching the material to a films length or compromising for mass audience approval.

Also wouldnt have to worry about the film not doing well sinking sequels.

Oh, and Im really suprised theyre actually considering Solomon Kane. Very cool.

The guy who played Marc Antony in Rome is playing Kane.

I hear you man. Conan should be a series in the vein of Rome. Conan's got so many great stories, why not just do a series and do them all?

I always got the feeling Howard didn't envision Conan being THAT big; bodybuilders of his time didn't get that insanely buff back then. I think I even read of a boxer whose physique inspired Conan's, and the guy wasn't anywhere near as huge as Conan.

In a perfect world, I would want Zack Snyder. But out of the names listed above, I want McTiegue, or maybe Marshall.

What would Zack Snyder do? He doesn't have a graphic novel to copy.

So the dude that went nuts with Leatherface and Jason is taking on Conan. I assume he'll make him a combination of Brock Samson and Korgoth of Barbaria.

See? I knew some significant news of Conan would come as soon as Clash of The Titans got rolling!!

I like this choice. "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Friday The 13th" were not bad at all for the type of films they are. They were decent remakes. It would be intriguing to see the mood Nispel brings to Conan. His mention of Frank Frazetta is quite comforting. I guess we'll just see.

Andrew Bryniarski for Conan, maybe?

I like Nispal so I'm on board for this. He will give the mythoogy respect.

Gigantic high five for that, man.

As unsure as I am about Nispel, I'd take him over Ratner any day.

I wish Ratner got the job. At least knowing him he'd try to shoot the movie like the first Conan movie. Which wasn't bad.

This guy though, well all you need to do is watch Pathfinder to get your answer. What a horrible, horrible choice.

F Ratner. I don't want a hack like him anywhere near this personally beloved property.

I perfered the TCM remake over the original.

Anyway... Is this guy the remake king or something?

So with Nispel on board , what are the chances that Conan will be rated R

Well for me, I dont know much about this guy, but anything is better than Brett Ratner, like the director sighting the original as well as Apocalypto, sounds like it will have a gritty feel at least. Just dont know who they will get better than Arnold though.
