The Dark Knight Concerns about TDK

My one truely main concern is the people that will find somethings they disagree with and spend the rest of there life bashing this film, much like the people do to SR and SM3.

side-note: Seriously, can we stop with the SR bashing already?

I'm going to agree with Cconn on this one.

It's ok to say everything is great, but as soon as one complaint comes up, you're branded as the man who hates the entire movie.

Exactly! Why is this always the case? Anyone that complains is a ****** and has poor taste in movies.

I hear yah dude.

i dont have a single one. Honestly i love how everything is turning out. I noticed that some people on here just like to complain. Just trust in Nolan and the crew they won't disappoint any of us. The thing with having mulitiple bat-men is if you ever opened up a comic you would know Batman used his costume on other people, i even remember a comic where alfred wore the cape and cowl. Futher more the joker is awesome everything we've seen so far has been amazing. From the scarred smile to the ragged clothes, just because he doesn't fit into your cookie cutter existence of the joker. SO WHAT? that is what its supposed to do. Do you honestly think that Warner Bros/Nolan don't know what they are doing? Come on you can't be that dumb...well some of you.

1. Trust can only go so far. People who say they trust Nolan so much almost make think there's a religious cult going on. Nolan is a good director. "Insomnia", The Prestige", "BB" were all great, but that isn't going to make me just trust the guy to the point where he could or couldn't have a slip up here. After all, this is his first sequel. There only a few sequels that outlive and outdo their predecessors. Some are just carbon copies and others are just downright terrible.

2. He is reimagining a beloved iconic villain. And from fans his vision of the character is a polarizing and divisive one. Some love it, others don't, and some want some changes made. It's pretty much lukewarm. I'm not a fan of him not being perma-clowned, nor of his scarred face, but the costume and hair are perfect. And it seems Heath's got Joker's intensity and unpredictability downflat which is a good thing.

3. A thing that worries me besides the Batmen is Harvey Dent/Two-Face. I hope the movie doesn't just suddenly introduce him, give him a few scenes, then Harvey becomes Two-Face, and there's no dramatic growth and character development for him to go from good to bad. If it were to just continue off from movie 2 than it'd work, but introducing Two-Face early would be a bad move. I also would like to know if Harvey is cheating on Gilda, if Gilda is in it, or if he's just with Rachel. I also want to know if he's secretly got mob ties.

4. We don't hear much about Gamble, Maroni, or Bruce and Alfred alot.

Now with that being said...

I am looking forward to seeing Scarecrow again, the Tumbler and the Batpod (still a dumb name should just be The Bat Cycle), seeing Dawes, Loeb, and the mayor die, seeing the action-scenes, seeing Batman and Joker fight---that's what I'm pretty much stoked for. And I want to see Batman starting to rebuild the Batcave and relying on his detective and computer work.

My only concern lies with Joker wearing make-up. If it were officially announced in some way that he was perma-white I would be as happy as can be.

Good post  And im totally cool with joker wearing makeup

I'm still on the fence with Joker's look and I really dislike Batman's new look. That stuff won't ruin the movie for me though. A bad characterization of Dent or Joker will ruin it however. I think Bruce/Batman will rock, as well as Alfred and Gordon. I worry about the new characters. If Joker isn't handled correctly, the whole movie will fall apart.

My only concern is that my hopes are set so high for this movie.

my concern is how they always change the girl in the movie, not one single bat movie the girl was the same...they have the same character but different face...iunno nothing major just pissed of at Katie Holmes.

^Yeah, but Dawes was a character that nobody really cares about here. Plus Maggie's a better actress IMO.

I'm not really concerned about much. I just hope they give Dent some character development and the whole Batmen angle isn't too dumb.

Other then that, I simply cannot wait to see the interrogation scene between bats and Joker.

To me it does a little cuz batmans the main character and he cant be wearing a crappy suit

I care about Dawes, I think she is one of the best "Batgirls", second only to Catwoman in the movies and third to Catwoman and Talia in the general mythos, occupying the same place as Andrea from Mask of the Phantasm.

You would have a point if Burton had directed Batman Forever and Batman and Robin.

I think he has a point BECAUSE Burton wasn't allowed to direct Batman Forever and Batman and Robin -- because when Batman Returns came out, with all the parents the fiasco, the movie performed poorly and was not well received for becoming so much darker. I don't understand why you aren't debating with Phaser, you just giving weird excuses.

The fake Batmen have me concerned the most. I just don't see them being a really interesting plot device.

...but I have faith in Nolan and I'm sure it'll all work out.

A fake Batman turned out to be a pretty good plot device in Batman # 2 with Joker's second appearance, however in the film, don't expect them to have too much screen time... They will have some convos, and play into the plot some, but their screen time will be very limited.

Batman Begins: Ra's Al Ghul, Scarecrow, Falcone, cameo from Zsasz

The Dark Knight: The Joker, Scarecrow, Maroni, Two-Face (briefly) at the end

Same number of villains, so what's the issue?

You might be a little off with Two Face screen time, he appears to have more than we originally expected with Dent getting scarred around scene 250, and turning up to flip his coin for Maronio around scene 306, and then again giving details to Barbara Gordan around 320.

Out of a movie with 330 scenes, he will certainly be IN the film, but it's unlikely we'd see him even as often as we saw Scarecrow in the last film.

Cillian Murphy appears to have only been on the set for a little period of time in this film, based on what we know so far he may not appear again after the beginning -- then again, maybe he appears in Arkham during Joker's stay before his escape.

Regardless, this film does not have to deal with Batman becoming Batman - there is 330 scenes of a story, where as Batman Begins final shooting draft had 316. That means its gonna be a LARGER film, since there is no back story to build up.

People however seem to be over estimating the screen time certain villains will be given. We already know by scene by 90, Maroni's is likely out of commission until his trial.

People should look at what we know of the scenes and realize the majority of the villains aren't gonna occupy that much of the story... It's still Bruce Wayne's story.

...If you were a comic fan you'd know who Zsasz is.

I'm not a comics fan, eh? I've been reading/collecting comics since 1983. That's almost 25 years, son. I never read Batman with any regularity to tell you the truth. I love the character-in fact Batman is my favorite character. However, I'm ultra picky about the way he's portrayed/written/and drawn esp. Alan moore and Brian Bolland did a Batman that I found dead on, so did Miller (well, back in Dark Knight Returns at least.) I enjoyed the hell out of the Legends of the Dark Knight story Brian Talbot did. and there were some great little stories in Batman: black and white by dini, janson, wagner, chaykin etc.. I don't follow the regular books much.

or the old standby that if you dont like this film you must be a Burton lover

Another concern: If I by some chance prefer Jack Nicholson's Joker (I might, I might not, obviously I'll have to wait to see Ledger first), I'll end up having to contend with 14 year olds branding me a troll again. I really have no intention of doing so.

my concern is that all of nolan's films have been great so far and that he's bound to eventually run out of awesome ore with which to craft these masterpieces.
