The Dark Knight Concerns about TDK

I fully understand, it happens to just about everyone.

Cool well I sure hope this movie rocks like BB :)

And they are just concerns now nothing stops me from seeing comic book movies on opening day(bad ones do not get a second or third viewings)

I hope Heath does an awesome Joker and even if they do use makeup it may be something as you say that I may not even care about because the movie is that damn good, we shall see and I am hoping....

My concerns is the performance of Ledger as the Joker. Im distracted by this clone Dawes we have and I hope this big cast wont waste the other actors.

The story doesn't need to be super-complex. Just told properly.

Who cares?

I think it would be cool if The Joker put on makeup, but did so for so long that it affected his skin, hair and lips. I.E, stained them permanently.

Then everyone's happy. In theory.

Lead roles constanty get re-casted in Film Series but no one seems to care. A secondary role that most criticized the first time around becasue of the actress playing her has been recast with a better actress - and people freak out.

Most people here seem to complaining about loyalty to the source material.

Well, guess what! That's what everybody complains about when any movie has source material. And if the movie turns out to be great, then no one really cares about the changes.

Omg Nolan Strayed From Source Material! Get Burton And Schumacher Back!

My main concern, having to wait in line to see the movie, I hate lines.

yea. if you want an adaptation relatively faithful to the comic books (at least of the time), get watching the old Adam West series. there's always going to be deviation from source material, for what is largely the mainstream audience's sake.

Although I would prefer perma white skin as well, does showing it again and by chemical bath that important? Like would you still be bitter/disappointed if he had perma white skin but it doesn't show or say how he got it?

well, perma white skin with no chemical bath is better than no perma white skin and no chemical bath. but my wanting the chemical has less to do with explaining his look, as much as i feel its vital to embolden the unique hero/villain relationship between batman and joker.

I always find this type of advice funny..

If that's referring to the lack of a permawhite Joker, it's already been agreed from both sides of the argument that the general audience couldn't give a damn either way.

it has been rumoured that batman may cause his cut smile when a heist goes wrong. i too love the fact that batman helped create his worst enemy so im playing the waiting game.

They ask me because to them I am the authority on that type of movie.
When you have 5k+ comic books thats what you get.
Them seeing or not based on what I tell them is there own business, but i would like to think i steer them in the right direction as if I like something they usually do but I have been wrong before so something I dislike they have liked when they do eventually see it on DVD or pay per view etc.

If you are not attacking my opinion I apologize I get a bit touchy when posting because I have been attacked for posting my opinions before.
So yeh a bit touchy when posting as I can not understand attacking someone opinion.

That's something very normal in the Superman boards... we tend to be more civilized here...:o

Yeah... I'm trying not to think about it really. If Bats ends up not actually having any more maneuverability in the suit, I'll be really irritated.
Yeah same. But it dosent look like he would

LOL!!!... I wouldn't mind saying if I actually had some concerns about TDK, but I just DONT, LOL!!!...

Seriously, it just looks badass all around! And it's because of the groundwork layed out in Begins that has me this pumped to see the sequel! I...CAN'T...****ING...WAIT!!!:);)

It may just be too ****ing awesome for its own good.

My main concern is pacing and mood.

BB and Prestige have a tendency to just drift by before your eyes without ever giving you a proper chance to feel drawn into the world or it's characters. There isn't enough variation between the scenes and you never really 'hooked' or immersed into the movie. There's no downtime in these movies, no quiet reflective moments which offer the audience a lull to appreciate what's happened and what's going on in the characters heads. Things just keep happening, at the same pace, with the same cuts and transitions and the same overbearing music weighing down on the atmosphere. Dialogue becomes background noise, it's not distinct or endearing and it almost becomes tedious to keep up with what the characters are saying.

It looks like TDK is shaping into a fairly crowded movie so I'm expecting this weakness in Nolan style will be present again.
