Weak excuse..
No, really. He was forcing his voice to do that.
See, he doesn't talk like that normally. So, he FORCED his voice into the deep growl that it was.

Don't treat me like an idiot, please. I'm well aware that is not Bale's actual voice. No, really. He was forcing his voice to do that.

Bale needs to refine his voice for the sequel if he wants to become a great Batman in my eyes.
But Micheal Keaton, Kevin Conroy and even Val Kilmer all sounded more natural when they used their Batman voice. Bale sounded more like Wolverine in the 90's X-Men cartoon, and that's not a good thing.
My main concern is pacing and mood.
BB and Prestige have a tendency to just drift by before your eyes without ever giving you a proper chance to feel drawn into the world or it's characters. There isn't enough variation between the scenes and you never really 'hooked' or immersed into the movie. There's no downtime in these movies, no quiet reflective moments which offer the audience a lull to appreciate what's happened and what's going on in the characters heads. Things just keep happening, at the same pace, with the same cuts and transitions and the same overbearing music weighing down on the atmosphere. Dialogue becomes background noise, it's not distinct or endearing and it almost becomes tedious to keep up with what the characters are saying.
It looks like TDK is shaping into a fairly crowded movie so I'm expecting this weakness in Nolan style will be present again.
My only concern is that I won't get a decent seat in the theater for me to watch the movie, and then make up my mind about whether I feel it was good or not.
I'd agree with that, his films are quite distant and cold. That worked really well for Prestige, but the emotional scenes in BB didn't really hook you in. The music was dreadful in those moments too. Part of the problem was that the the whole film was very rushed, Bruce wasn't proactive during the first half, and the 2nd had to speed along to fit a crisis into an hour.
Goyer and Holmes gone immediately gets rid of the biggest superficial aspects of Begins, expecting more complex character moments this time, rather than perfunctory monologues. I think the worst mistake was bringing on Zimmer, David Julyan's music is a quiet mood setter rather than overbearing
Zimmer can't hold a candle to Elfman. They should've used Elfman's theme. I know it's a different cast, a different crew, and a different continuity all together, but Elfman's theme is just so there. It's literally the musical embodiment of Batman and one of the greatest film scores ever. Those first five notes at the beginning of the song are spine-chilling every time, could you imagine what it would've been like to hear them while sitting in a theater for the first time in thirteen years in Begins?
My only concern are the mutiple Batmen...what are they thinking.
The words "horrendous dialogue" and the name Christopher Nolan should not appear in the same sentence, sir. That just doesn't happen...
And where did I claim that was the case? This thread is for concerns about TDK, and I voiced my concern.Oh yes. Becuase I'm sure Bale is in his trailer right now, pacing back and fourth right now thinking frantically "What is Jimothy from Superhero Hype going to think of my Batman voice?!"
It obviously does matter to you, or why would you be so offended about what I think of Bale's Batman voice?Opinions are opinions. I can disagree with them in any way I choose. Whether it be sarcastic, which I prefer, or serious. Doesn't matter to me, shouldn't matter to you.
It wasn't quite whispering. And whatever it was, I thought it worked.Michael Keaton whispered. He didn't do anything to his voice.
Well, when i'm talking about Batman voices I think it is quite comparable. How can you compare voice acting to onscreen acting? They are two TOTALLY different things and produce two TOTALLY different voices.
and, once again, I think it worked. And, once again, Val Kilmer whispered as Batman.
You're right..it shouldn't appear in the same sentence...yet, here we are. When TDK comes out and completely lays waste to BB, this will be a big part of it. No writing 101 Goyer tricks in this one. The stupid finders keepers thing, the stupid "you still haven't given up on me" lines, the god awful "it's time i made my enemies share my dread"...the script is littered w/it. You know what, we can move this to the Begins thread...because the number one problem w/Begins was addresed w/Jonah Nolan. I couldn't be more psyched about the new movie...but I cringe when I think about what
it would've been like to sit through 2.5 hours of Goyer drivel. Don't believe me? Watch Blade 3.
Batman sounds nothing like he does in the comic books! Bale needs to read a few more and then maybe he can properly get the voice down!

yeah because comic book characters can talk while you read the story. It's so fair to make that comparison![]()
