Turn out the lights, the party's over.
For the love of god, STOP comparing this to Hannibal. Hannibal is an international co-production, it airs in the spring, it has massive critical acclaim, and it's way cheaper to produce. Constantine's situation is NOTHING like Hannibal's was.
And Hannibal's season one rating AVERAGED a 1.15, which is higher than EVERY Constantine episodes except the pilot. Despite one airing in the spring and the other in the fall.
As pessimistic as I am, even I am SHOCKED that the announcement came when it did. Constantine just had its best rating since the pilot, yet they announce NOW that there will be no back nine? People are going to hear about this, and people are going to tune out.
The ratings for ALL shows go down in the spring. Constantine's midseason finale is December 12, which will almost definitely be the best rated remaining episode.
The only hope for this show now is for a smaller network or streaming service to save the show, and that's probably not likely.
And no, I am not happy about this at all. Nor am I gloating. But this is exactly what I said was going to happen, and you all chose to believe what you wanted to believe.
