Constantine General Discussion Thread - Part 1

I'm actually really happy about the 13 episode order. It helps produce a tighter story and reduces fatigue.

Hopefully, the ratings remain consistent (or even rise) as the weeks go on and we get an early season 2 renewal.

Hopefully more rising. So far, the show's been climbing back from it Halloween fall but never dipped to under 3 Million the way Dracula (which slipped to 2 Million + at some spots) did midway during it run

I'm also happy with 13 episodes. It works for Hannibal as well.

Turn out the lights, the party's over.

For the love of god, STOP comparing this to Hannibal. Hannibal is an international co-production, it airs in the spring, it has massive critical acclaim, and it's way cheaper to produce. Constantine's situation is NOTHING like Hannibal's was.

And Hannibal's season one rating AVERAGED a 1.15, which is higher than EVERY Constantine episodes except the pilot. Despite one airing in the spring and the other in the fall.

As pessimistic as I am, even I am SHOCKED that the announcement came when it did. Constantine just had its best rating since the pilot, yet they announce NOW that there will be no back nine? People are going to hear about this, and people are going to tune out.

The ratings for ALL shows go down in the spring. Constantine's midseason finale is December 12, which will almost definitely be the best rated remaining episode.

The only hope for this show now is for a smaller network or streaming service to save the show, and that's probably not likely.

And no, I am not happy about this at all. Nor am I gloating. But this is exactly what I said was going to happen, and you all chose to believe what you wanted to believe.

I'd figured you chime in.... Not that we were asking, mind.

I just saw the Deadline link. ****! I was gunning for the additional 9. Still, I'm going to panic; just encourage more people to watch the show so the rating can jump up again to where it can come back for another season.

For all the shows he could pick he to crap over he chose Constantine.:wall:

I didn't crap all over the show, and you guys DID ask for me to do this, because you all keep trying to spin obviously bad news about the show's prospects. A few of you mentioned me by name before I even said anything.

I LIKE the show. I WANT for it to do well. I HOPE that NBC changes their mind, or that someone else steps in to save it. But those three words are IRRELEVANT to the actual prospects for cancellation.

You can be a fan of something and still take an honest look at its prospects for success.

if NBC ends up cancelling this show, i truly hope a network like AMC or FX picks this show up. i think it would do well in AMC especially since they are looking for shows now that Breaking Bad ended and Mad Men is about to end. on top of that, they also cancelled most of their reality shows.

Yet Comic Book Men still stands....

Everyone looking at famicommander as he makes posts about the show getting cancelled but at the same time he says that he's a fan of the show.

I want to see netflix take it .

That's type of individual me and another friend over on Voices From Beyond were discussing about just now:

What kind of ***** sets up a website to predict which series will be cancelled?
Do bookmakers take bets on this?
Couldn't NBC bet against the series then use their winnings to fund season 2?

*I know the answer is the same sort of **** who posts in comments threads around the internet but has the skills to do their own website.

Well,I don't think that's the end for the series. Not getting the "back 9" isn't always a killer. It's actually probably better to have a short season.I think too many "filler" episodes would kill the show.(TBH,next week's looks completely generic)

Didn't they say something about Sy-Fy possibly taking on the show,if NBC passes?

And it was the 2nd story filmed right after the original version of the pilot (and before they Liv removal/Zed inclusion announcement), IIRC. You notice with the different tie shade in The Devil's Vinyl and A Feast of Friends and the next 7 episodes

I get that everyone wants good news, but the attacks on famicommander are ridiculous. He is just coming with the truth, and whether you like that or not, it isn't going to change what is most likely going to happen. I don't I have ever heard of a fall show that didn't pick up the back 9 and survived.

You can like a show and be honest about it with yourself.

Lets be honest this show was DOA from the beginning. Very little about its handling made it conducive to success. The worst part is if this is canceled we can rule out another Constantine show for a while. Personally I'd like Netflix to buy the show and reboot it. Keep the cast but do a whole new show. Just forget what came before on NBC. Have a whole new premiere and go from there.

Ugh.

I don't mind 13 episode season AS LONG AS THERE'S A SECOND SEASON!

The only thing I question is keeping it on Friday nights.Friday is pretty much the only night I can guarantee I'll be out.So I always end up watching it On demand the next night.I don't know if that effects the ratings, but I imagine I'm not the only one who does that.

If they were wise, they'd give it Parenthood's slot one it closes shop. Follow the money!

This is the reason I hate NBC, freaken jerk holes.

The latest news doesn't read well, but hopefully, it's not a death knell.
