Constantine General Discussion Thread - Part 1

Sadly, Neilsen ratings are still to important to tv.

Thus will be the major networks downfall in the end as more cable networks and streaming services get more people.

They shant be around forever....

I have 5 or so episodes saved on the DVR; show started to drag for me. My question: did the show improve? Is it worth catching up - especially since it looks like it may get canceled?

This is something that has to come to an end or result in a drastic change to how they work out the ratings and viewership numbers. The old system is so draconic and outdated that it has given good shows bad ratings and bad shows good ratings.

And god knows, I can think of plenty of those....

He improves strongly starting with A Feast of Friends and kept getting stronger since

The Nielsen media research system is already heavily flawed in that not everybody who has cable or satellite also has a Nielsen box in their home to log what they're viewing. A great deal of people watching most TV shows during their original airing never count towards the Nielsen viewership rating for this reason.

All the more the reason why it needs to be abolished

They also take in to account DVR to. They have other means of tracking how well a show does beyond Nielsen ratings. The fact is the numbers are just not there. It sad too because it was just getting really good.

Still nothing set in stone yet. We just have to cross our fingers and hope NBC gives it another season. I think this is one of those shows that will build through word of mouth and become popular. Thats what happen with X-Files it started off week but Fox stuck with it and ratings got better cause of word of mouth. I hope NBC gives it another season and 22 episodes.

I say move it to the CW, where it will have a much higher chance of survival.
The CW maybe a network that cares about ratings as much as ABC or NBC, the difference is a 1.2 is a sign of doom on those networks but it's the norm for CW.

What part of the CW's off the table do some of you not grasp? They still have Supernatural thus they have no need to take in Constantine at all. Had they let it end the way Eric Kripe planned it five years ago, then it'd been an option. But as it stands, its 100% unlikely.

As mentioned by , the show already had to face whinging left and right over the lack of smoke, bi-sexuality (mainly stemming from their own misconcption of the character and their discontent for David Goyer over how he handles sexuality in DaVinci's Demons) plus a host of other complaints. Putting on the CW would be the last nail in the coffin to anyone ever giving the show a proper chance.

I sincerely hope Constantine gets renewed or finds a new home on another network. This show is a breath of fresh air...

Its funny,I could never get into Supernatural.
But, I have found Constantine to be much more accessible .
I also hope very much for either a renewal or rescue from another network.

Is it possible that the upcoming DC Lucifer might have a tie in with the Constantine universe? They seem to be covering the same themes. I mean the characters even meet in the comics. It would be a shame not to use that opportunity to boost ratings.

Very little chance of Fox and NBC collaborating in a shared universe of Warner-owned shows.

The reason people are talking about crossovers between Supergirl, Titans, and Flash/Arrow is because
1. CW is co-owned by CBS and Warner
2. CBS has Supergirl, which is a Warner property
3. Titans is on TNT. TNT and Titans are both owned by Warner

And all that is assuming we even get another season of Constantine, which is thoroughly unlikely.

I think they (Producers of Constatine) left some arcs unresolved in hope that the show might get a renewal, or maybe get shifted to SyFy.

Lack of any sort of comments from Producers on the fate of Constantine, after 13th episode finale, may indicate that something is going on behind the scenes. (or maybe they are waiting for something.)

After reading up on the script excerts and learning if Lu being made an uncoventional cop show (YES, its really going to be the basics of the show), I'd say that isn't happening.

Pity as before Bleeding Cool posted the script excerts, I had high hopes for Tom Kapinos but its seems I'd rather he'd just make a Californiacation movie than balls up a Sandman spin-off.

It is also possible that they don't know anything yet.

^Yeah it was posted a few days ago

This show deserved so much better than the Friday night death slot and the piss poor marketing that went along with it. Still holding out hope that NBC gives them the same chance they did for Parks and Rec but sadly the cost of the show probably makes that a slim possibility.

Is Friday really so bad? It seems to suit Hannibal just fine. :)
