This isn't a remake, it seems to be the proper version of Constantine we should have got originally.
The actor is WelshHe is English isn't he?
Cool haven't read the comics version thought that film was not bad though.
I know he's English and blonde in the comics but other that that any major changes?
The actor is Welsh
Constantine is a hell raising con-man, a former punk rock singer and morally ambiguous low level magician who often gets involved in various supernatural occurrences.
Constantine is addicted to the magic/supernatural life style even though it is highly destructive and usually destroys his life as well as his relationships and friendships.
The majority of Constantine's friends, family, girlfriends or allies end up having something horrible happen to him and Constantine is literally haunted by the ghosts of his loved ones.
As a former punk Constantine is very anti-establishment and anti-authoritarian. He holds heaven as in much contempt as hell and generally foils the various plots of both.
Some cool stuff he has done include stopping the second coming of Christ, tricking the lords of hell into curing his terminal cancer, making a Angel fall from heaven, selling his soul to the satan and then getting out of it be separating the bad aspects of himself into a doppelgänger and poisoning the first vampire.

He looks PERFECT. But now the question is will he be bisexual? Cause that is what people will be latching onto next.
I doubt it since that aspect was only brought up once in the John Smith penned issue during Garth Ennis' run and long since been ignored by other writers since then (save for Brian Azzarello's stint where he had the obvious gay Batman analogue in SW Manor)
Somebody tell someone from the Flash board to get over here. I can't find flaws in the look and need someone to make some up.
At the very least they've got the look bang-on. If I was being uber-nitpicky I'd talk about how the trenchcoat looks pristine and off-the-rack like someone playing dress-up rather than having a grubby, worn-in quality, but I'm sure that's something that will be sorted when they're filming proper. Really, they nailed his appearance. I don't know anything of Matt Ryan as an actor to say whether he'll be good or bad, though it'll be interesting to see how he and the writers work around the limitations of John Constantine being a character on network TV. Notice how this promotional shot works in the cigarette smoke without actually depicting him smoking? However, Hannibal - one of the most uncompromisingly brutal shows on TV - is on NBC, so it can be surprising how much you can get away with if you have a little creativity. Plus, with Neil Marshall directing the pilot, I shall be cautiously optimistic for now.
I haven't read John Smith's issue, but read Azzarello's run, and he's the only writer I've read who portrayed John as a bi. The other writers never did, his romantic interests have always been women.
Anyway, who's everybody's favorite Hellblazer writer around here? I'd have to say Delano's still the best for me.
