Interesting that two different DC-based pilots have directors that have worked on Game of Thrones.

I wonder if it would work out if hbo produced this and had it back to back with true detective. That might be the heaviest weekly 2 hours in tv history.

Anyone think we'll get Swamp Thing guest starring or in a recurring role? Or Zatanna? Who are Constantine's recurring characters? I've read a handful of Hellblazer comics but it's really only him from what I remember. TV shows need recurring characters. I don't want a bunch of nobody cops and crap. Will he have a sidekick like that idiot from the movie?

It would be pretty unique if he was literally the only main character traveling around.

With all the Doctor Who and Sherlock fans today, I guess they realized Americans don't hate British people like Lauren Donner thought when they cast Keanu Reeves

Neil Marshall directing is excellent news !! I am a very big fan of the guy ! He made Descent and the very underrated Dog Soldiers.

And lets not forget...

Papa Midnite will always be a welcome character since he's American and will be Constantine's American connection. Madame Xanadu lends herself to changing locations from American to British. Zatanna could be a recurring character because of her travelling "show" and ex-girlfriend.

Swamp Thing can be a tricky character since he is too powerful. He could be the character that becomes the "cavalry" every time Constantine digs himself into a hole he can't get out of. Animal Man could be an interesting counter to Swamp Thing.

Phantom Stranger, The Spectre, Dr. Fate, etc. etc.

PAUL BETTANY!

I think they should stick to the Constantine continuity before he came to DC. Plenty of stories there, and it leaves it open for another magical DC hero to come and have fun in that side of the universe.

Besides, Constantine isn't one to interact with other characters unless he has too. Like what he did with the JLD, and they all hate him.

Awesome news specially the Marshall directing bit. I hope the series does well.

Hoping they add Zantanna to the main cast, who would everyone want to play her?

I'd prefer Wilde as Zatanna in the Justice League Dark film rather than the TV Show.

I think if they are setting this in America then John getting out of Ravenscar mental hospital after the Newcastle incident would be the perfect time to have him come to America.

I hope they bring up Newcastle in the first season like they did in the early Hellblazer comics. You hear about Newcastle and know it was something really bad that happened to John Constantine and then you see it are like holy s*** now I know why he was so uncomfortable when it was mentioned by anyone.

The good thing about Constantine is he has had hundreds of supporting characters thought out his comic runs.

The majority of Constantine's supporting ended up dead. It is sort of John's thing that if you get involved in his crazy life you end up dead or something terrible happens to you.

Another thing is if John Constantine helps you then you owe him a favour which is something you never want to do. John often uses these favours as leverage to carry out something not good.

Some of John's major supporting characters are

Emma- John Constantine's ex-girlfriend, an American artist from Brooklyn (most likely a supporting character.
Chas - John's Cab driving best friend.
The Newcastle Crew - John's magic posse
Angie Spatchcock - John's magic using female sidekick
Map - A London tube maintenance worker, who also happens to be a powerful Magician who John occasional calls on for help.
Watford - A detective in London's robbery squad who is under John's thumb.
Gemma Master - John's niece who idolizes him
Kit Ryan - one of the loves of John's life.

The first of the fallen, Nergal, Papa Midnite, The Family Man serial killer, King of the Vampires and Demon Constantine as well as Constantine's demonic children are the villains that should definitely appear.

But will he BE in London in the show? That's what I want to know.

Doubt it. Too many Brits, no Americans in sight, viewers will think they accidentally tuned in to Downton Abbey or some ****.

Also, I'd say budget has more to do with that than anything.

Is Stephen Moyer available or will it conflict with his final season of True Blood? He's a brit.

I like Paul Bettany a lot so I'd be fine with him tho I'm not sure he's got the grizzly world weary nature I'd like to see Constantine have. Hell I can't think of any British actors who fit that off the top of my head.
