Constantine General Discussion Thread

Supernatural series creator Eric Kripke has said Castiel from Supernatural's appearance is based on John Constantine which wouldn't be in CW's favour if a Constantine show was also on that network.

Which is a complete pain in the ass when you're cosplaying as Constantine but everyone at the con keeps complementing you on your Castiel costume.

You'd think the fact that I'm squarely blond would tip them off, but no.

There was also an awkward moment where two girls dressed as the 11th Doctor thought I was going as the 10th and asked if I would take a picture with them. If I was trying for David Tennant it would have been a pretty crappy costume, but I obliged nonetheless.

If a nerdy girl asks you if your cosplaying the tenth doctor, you say YES.

I wish they'd grow a pair and just call it HELLBLAZER. But regardless... given that supernatural horror has found a new place on TV, this could really turn out to be something special. I actually liked the Keanu film for what it was... not a great adaptation perhaps but a fun supernatural action movie.

But for this, I hope they ditch the cliche action stuff and just go for straight up weird and horrific. And please cast a Brit (or someone who can do the accent) this time. I love the ideas of Bettany and Pearce.

I will be looking forward to this DC is nearly on every major network now wow. I liked the movie based on the comic I actually hoped they'd do a sequel.

If this makes it to series I'm going to need him to be blonde and British. Also make Zantanna a regular on the show.

If they're going to go well known: Paul Bettany

If not overly well known: Sebastian Roche

I wish this landed on AMC.

It would just broaden the possibilities.

I think a more episodic structure works better with Hellblazer, not to mention that while AMC happens to have good show, they also have some terrible decisions, from constantly firing people in the walking dead to promoting Mad Men more than it deserves (not that the show is bad, actually the oposite, but no show deserves to get so much spotlight considering they take some focus away from their other shows with this decision).

Seems like most nowadays want every show to be The Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, or even Walkind dead, but not every story works that way. There are also other possibilities with the episodic format.

Adaptation Of DC Comic ‘Constantine’ From Daniel Serone & David Goyer Gets NBC Pilot Order
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

It is a big day for Warner Bros. TV and DC Comics. On the heels of Fox confirming its Batman drama Gotham is going to series this morning, NBC has greenlighted a pilot for Constantine, a drama based on the characters in DC Comics’ John Constantine stories. The project, which had a script commitment with penalty, is written/executive produced by The Mentalist executive producer Daniel Cerone and David S. Goyer, the go-to writer for Warner Bros’ feature DC adaptations. Constantine centers on John Constantine, an enigmatic and irreverent con man-turned-reluctant supernatural detective who is thrust into the role of defending us against dark forces from beyond.

John Constantine, who first appeared in 1985 as a recurring character in the horror series The Saga Of The Swamp Thing, was created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and Jamie Delano. He was portrayed by Keanu Reeves in the 2005 feature Constantine and is rumored to be featured in the Justice League Dark feature Warner Bros has in the works with Guillermo del Toro.

In addition to Gotham, Constantine joins Warner Bros TV/DC’s The Flash at the CW, a spinoff from hit Arrow, which is shooting a pilot. Goyer has co-written The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, Batman Begins, Man Of Steel and the upcoming Batman vs. Superman. On TV, he is the creator/executive producer of Starz’s Da Vinci’s Demons. Cerone is the creator/executive producer of Canadian drama Motive, which aired on ABC this summer.

Since this is the 4th place NBC, the show will either get cancelled immediately or last longer than anyone expects. There is no middle ground.

I'm actually pretty sure NBC isn't in fourth place anymore, at least currently. That's probably ABC or FOX.

This thing is gonna debut on a Tuesday or Wednesday with ZERO promos behind it, then get shuffled to Friday's and die a sad death. I wish this wasn't on NBC. I have no faith in network television anymore.

Oh settle down. They gave Hannibal a second season when, by all accounts, most networks wouldn't have.

A night where it might actually get viewers.

The problem is so many shows are now on at the same time. Sacrifices will be made depending on the show because of it

Eeeh....I'm not interested by the idea of a network TV Constantine. However, I'll definitely give this a shot but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up disappointed.

Having your expectations of disappointment met is the opposite of disappointment. :o

I dunno NBC pushed the envelop with Hannibal.

If there's a new series that I'm interested in, right now I'd want it to be on Fox or NBC. CBS shows tend to feel like CSI/NCIS, and ABC kind of just sucks in general.

johnny boy's more of an AMC kind of character to me, but i'm staying hopeful for this. atleast now it's gotten a pilot order finally.

Though, yes, this wouldn't really be a CBS show. Besides the tone, I just don't think they would go this genre.

I'll absolutely take it if it's Hannibal good. I'm not saying it can't work on network TV but it wouldn't hurt if it was on basic cable instead like FX, for example.

Yes, disappointment was a poor choice of words. More like dislike.
