People who leak this **** need to go to ****ing jail.

I read that he doesn't. Or at least they can't show him actually smoking. Apparently the network has a no smoking rule. Which is ridiculous. You can show someone getting murdered on TV, but showing someone smoke is a taboo.

It's weird that NBC is cool with Hannibal showing fairly graphic violence/gore, and SVU showing the traumatic physical and psychological aspects of rape, but smoking is where they draw the line. Look I HATE smoking, I've lost several friends/relatives to it. However, it's kind of a big part of Constantine's character and to not do it basically for PR reasons makes little sense to me.

Did he smoke??

They cut to hin stubbing it out in the trey after finishing it. Hence why I dubbeted it the Laura Petrie pants treatment. We can see puting it out, but not actually smoking.

The show may need new sponsors or be placed on a channel like FX or AMC in order get the full smokiing

Maybe they're taking their cues from Marvel. Joe Quesada was fine with lots of blood/guts/violence, but he had a relative who died of lung cancer (I think) and so he instituted a no-smoking policy. It didn't matter if smoking was a big part of their character, like Wolverine smoking cigars, they couldn't show it anymore. They could still show excessive drinking and drug use, but no smoking.

Is it officially picked up by NBC? Wolverine still smokes cigars in the movies

And heroes to sacrifie their marriages to Mephisto for the sake of getting laid and remaining a momma's boy for the next 45 odd years. Lets not forget that tidbit

They'll always be smokers in the world no matter what Marvel or in this case NBC does. Its a pointless censorship and above all unrealistic when it comes to a non-family friendly character like John Constantine

At least he is a smoker. They said they're still trying to make it work as much as possible so that's good.

I liked that they are taking a lot of Hellblazer influences and plot lines.

They have nailed the character of Constantine. This isn't the charisma vacuum Keanu version but the real swaggering untrustworthy scheming trickster Mage of the comics.

Ryan did ok and will probably grow into the role more as the show goes on.
great to see Ritchie Simpson, Astra, Newcastle, Chas and Nergal either mentioned of appear.

I couldn't tell if the girl who played Astra was trying to sound British or was supposed to be American

I liked how they mentioned his backstory of his mother dying. I wonder if John will find out she died because of his fathers botched abortion attempt and if the family man serial killer will kill his father like he does in the comics.

I'm not a big fan of the whole soul being dammed to hell plot from the movie still being a focus but if they have John pull his cons of selling his soul to the lords of hell demons or splitting his soul in two to escape going to hell like in the comics it would be awesome

Solid pilot, Ryan is really good, charismatic & charming. The girl character is decent enough. Contrary to what was said at the top of the page, I think the production values are solid (considering the quality).

I thought it was a solid pilot too. I don't get what was so cheap with the special effects. I thought they looked good for TV standards.

Decent acting, and interesting enough pilot.

This sums it up for me and I'm sure they will get better as the season progresses.

I'd give this a 7-8/10. It was solid enough. I agree that the girl's acting was a bit wonky at times. Like when she said [BLACKOUT]"Make her loss matter."[/BLACKOUT]. The way she said it, the inflection of it, just took me out. And there were several moments like that for me in the pilot. Let's hope she improves.

In regards to the no-smoking thing, if they establish that he's trying to quite because he survived lung cancer, or something like that, then it could work maybe.

Oh God. Sawyer's gonna pee out his butt.

What, because of the leak? I don't know... I think I might just unsubscribe from both this and the Flash thread for the next few months just because it's annoying as **** to read.

Was a little inconsistent but as others have all said, a solid pilot. Hoping it'll improve as the season progresses

are there any other DC easter eggs besides Fate's helmet?

I dunno how likely it is for me to watch this show unless more major DC characters like Fate show up.

There's no other easter eggs I could see, but they guys behind it have talked about intorducing a few other of the dark/magic DC characters a bunch of times. So I think we'll at the very least get Swamp Thing.

It was okay. should have been 60 minutes pilot with some parts to catch your breath.

From what I've heard, there is a Swamp Thing easter egg... Not sure what.

He was stumping out a lit cigarette in a bar at the end of the episode so he is certainly a smoker.
