Here's a place you can e-mail Marvel about your opinions on Spidey nowadays.

E-mail & written letter.

hmmm, as SIAT suggested- it might be a good idea if a response to them was specially organized and represented a large number of fans from different forum communities.

I would write, but I have read in many interviews with Joe Q and JMS that don't listen to criritisim, good or bad. JMS says he doesn't listen to fans because if he did he wouldn't be free to write the character how he wants.

I understand the point but at the same time realize writting won't help. They won't even read it.

I think we should start a petition and send it to the board of directors at marvel.

Well, the address and e-mail isn't specifically to JMS or Joe Q. So I would think it's worth a shot.

Before I try and write a letter, I'm going to wait and see the outcome of One More Day first before passing judgement.

I could complain about the last few years of some mediocre storytelling in ASM, but the point would be moot at this time.

:csad:

you're all going to get automated responses, and they'll probably just delete your letters...Joey Q has stated a million times that the people on the internet are only a small fraction of the companies actual sales, and that he doesnt give a crap what you think...the only way to get them to take notice would be to get the numbers on the book to drop to clone saga levels, which wont happen with just you internet whiners...deal with it.

I wrote a nice long email and canceled my subscription in said email. The only difference it made is that I don't get the comics anymore. And I don't get pissed at Spidey comics anymore.

I'm curious as to why you would cancel now???...

As opposed to during Sins Past, or the Unmasking, or even after Back in Black (if that storyline upset you)...

Are you cancelling due to JMS' revealing of the outcome to OMD? (I've yet to hear it, so PLEASE do not spill the beans)

Or does Brand New Day not appeal to you?

I'm really just curious to your timing and your reasons why...

You don't have to answer if you don't feel like it.

Thanks for your time...

The writing was on the wall back in 2002 when Joe Que?sada said he wanted a single Spider-Man in 616.

He said he couldn't kill MJ off 'cause that is just too much death for Spider-Man (meaning his 2 loves die) and he didn't want Spider-Man divorcing because that was (immoral) [what a wierdo].

Fact, or opinion is Gwen was the better fit then MJ, and they really didn't have a whole lot in common, but again, EVERY thing Quesada and his team add to Spider-Man lore is POINTLESS, boring, uninspirational, shallow, tired, uncharacteristic, silly, and shamlessly money driven {movie-driven}

Quesada sux.

I will probably send in an E-mail sometime soon. I won't make it mean though. I will just tell them my likes and my dislikes.

I canceled right after The Other. Hence the "Iron-Free" title. ;) I think it was the preview of Spidey gliding in the Iron-Spider suit that finally did me in. I know it was a plot device and back then understood that it was temporary, but I had had enough. It was clear to me that JMS and JoeQ were going to tell their stories no matter what, so I couldn't in good conscience continue to support them with my money.

Sins Past = my cancellation of all things Spidey. Been there ever since.

Even Ultimate? It sucked at about the time of Sins Past, but it has since gotten a bit better.

Yeah, in the last year or so I've been buying more books from the Distinguished Competition.

I'm going to write an old fashioned letter... eloquently and civilly stating my objections.

Then, at the end of OMD, if they DO break up the marriage, I will somehow get a copy of the issue (without buying or stealing), send it through a shredder and stuff it in an envelope along with a scathing commentary.

I wonder if people shredded up copies of Amazing Spdier-Man #121 & 122 when Gwen kicked the bucket?

:yay:

no, the internet wasnt around back then so no one could claim to make such large, overdramatic and downright stupid gestures :o

Well, before I write in a "F*** you, Joe Q" letter, I'll wait and see what we end up with. Yeah, there's a 99 percent chance that we'll see the end of the marriage, but there's also a 1 percent chance that he's just blowing smoke to cover up something else he's planning on bringing in, bringing back, or bringing up.

When this storyline has run its course, I'll make a statement to Marvel.

At this point, if JQ decides to end the marriage, then nothing can change that. The issues are written, they'll be out in a few months. He's not going to go and change anything, simply because he can't change anything in the story without it taking him ANOTHER year to draw the issue. Also, he doesn't WANT to change anything he's doing. He made in abundantly clear that he wants a single Spidey, and, rest assured, he will make whatever changes HE wants during his tenure as EIC...as he has thus far.

I'll wait and make sure he ends the marriage before I send in any letters or complaints. If the marriage ends, then, rest assured, I will send in a letter proclaiming my ill attitude towards the current state of Spider-man comics, and I will also cancel my subscription to Amazing Spider-man until they rectify the situation.

I would recommend NO ONE write ANYTHING into Marvel until the storyline has run its course.

Just a thought. But why waste your time writing to Joe Q? Why not go above him and just complain to his boss?

Nothing stupid about it.

yes, there is..."I paid good money for this book damn it! I wish it would have been better! I feel like my money has been wasted!...what should I do? I could sell it on e-bay, and make at least part of my investment back, or even take it to one of many comic stores that re-buys comics as long as they're in good condition...no! I'll tear it up! Cause that'll teach 'em!!!!"

Thats honestly one of the most ******ed, overdramatic reactions I've ever seen to anything...it's like the people who used to go out and buy a bunch of KISS merchandise just to burn it...

No there isn't.

Captivated was not saying any of that.
She merely suggested including a shredded copy of a comic to help articulate her disgust of the current events.

Someone should write a really well thought out letter that addresses all the complaints and concerns over the Spider-Man comics. Make it the best that you can and not too long as to not bore the person reading it.

Then what you do is go to the other message boards and get a petition going. Get as many names that you possibly can, attach them to the letter, and BAM, there ya go.

It's really crazy how some people here will just sit and eat something that they don't like. I've already seen a bunch of posts where people are like, "Oh, what's THAT going to do?"

Well, it can do a lot if it's you and thousands upon thousands of others doing it.

Of course Quesada and JMS don't personally read the letters and criticisms. In all honesty, where would they find the time to do that? But that's THEM. That's not the head of Marvel Comics. They guy, or girl, that Quesada has to answer to. Because EVERYBODY has to answer to somebody.

This is why Spider-Man hasn't changed though. Too many nay sayers with the whole "Quesada and JMS don't read it...". It's not about THEM reading it. It's about getting it to the correct people who will show it to someone in marketing and say, "Oh, wow, that's a lot of people who are upset with Spider-Man...and if we do go through with this we're going to be taking a severe hit in the sales department".

As I've said...if you really do want to change it, then do it. Strength in numbers. If you just sit there and say, "Oh, they won't read it..."...well, nothing is going to change and you might as well not read a Spider-Man comic EVER again. :o
