The Incredible Hulk

Iron Man 2 - You see footage from Hulk's college rampage.

Thor - Coulson's drive to Mjolnir and you're introduced to Loki.

I did the marathon at my house the day of the premiere and the order I decided on and what worked really well was:

Captain America
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Thor
The Incredible Hulk

I did it this way mostly because while Thor and TIH run concurrently, it happens during the second half of IM2. So basically the events that end IM2 take place during the beginning of both Thor and TIH, but TIH ultimately ends closer to The Avengers.

Yeah when I do my own Marathon It's IM, IM2, TIH,Thor, and Cap. I really wish I had some kind of 6 disc dvd player to watch them by events, since IM2 and Thor run almost the same time

You missed a big chunk of TIH. Bottle plant incident, the campus fight, etc. That's somewhere around IM2.

I agree watching Cap last makes the most sense, as it serves as one big flashback sequence.

I am only going to review the ones I really liked thus far (that's IM1 and TA only thus far). But the order they take place in is:

1. The bulk of CA:TA
2. Iron Man
3. The Incredible Hulk
4. Iron Man 2 and Thor seem to be going on simultaneously
6. The end of CA:TA (so you can watch it first or last)
7. The Avengers

Yeah, "correct" is 'kind of' subjective in this case because everyone has differing opinions on what they feel is 'correct' (as is evidenced by the myriad of responses). Some like to stick Captain America at the beginning because the bulk takes place in WWII, others like to stick it at the end because the bookends are the most recent events prior to Avengers (thanks to Fury's Big Week). Then you have the problem that IM2, TIH & Thor all have events that overlap with each other.

Others prefer the order that the films were released in and see that as the 'correct' order.

For me? When we did our marathon this was our order:

Captain America (because the bulk takes place in WWII)
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
- A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer (short - Cap Blu-Ray)
The Incredible Hulk
- The Consultant (short - Thor Blu-Ray)
Thor (I like to say it's because Loki is the villain in Avengers and Thor deals with his 'fall from grace' - but really it's because Thor is my favorite and I like to 'save the best for last' type of thing)

That worked for us, and will probably be the order I do whenever I do a marathon here on out.

They show him and his head is slightly oversized but nothing overly done. Black Widow takes care of him pretty quick.


As for the marathon, I'm watching one movie per day until my final IMAX viewing of The Avengers on Friday. So far I've watched IM & TIH. Tomorrow is IM2.

One thing I noticed in Iron Man was all the homage paid to RoboCop. I remember Favreau saying he was a huge fan of RoboCop growing up. There were several scenes that mimicked scenes out of the first two RoboCop movies (off the top of my head):

Iron Man punches through a wall to get one of the 10 rings guys (RoboCop punches through a wall to get a gunman holding a mayor hostage).

Iron Man on the back of Iron Monger pulls out cables going to optics controller (Robocop on the back of Cain and pulls his brain/eye unit out).

Half Iron Man with head and upper torso hanging with wires hanging out in a shop being repaired (Robocop hanging with only a head and upper torso with wires hanging out being repaired).

I always watch the movies in this order:

Captain America (since it mostly takes place during the 40s)

Iron Man

Iron Man 2 (which takes place about 6 months after IM)

The Incredible Hulk (Tony shows up there after the events of IM 2)

Thor (takes place about at the same time as Hulk and IM 2 but the story with Loki is the perfect prelude to lead directly into Avengers)

Also one should read the Captain America prelude comic before the Cap film, the Furys Big Week comic series between those films and Avengers as well as the currently released prelude of Black Widow strikes.

And then of course the big culmination of "phase1" which is the Avengers

I preparing before The Avengers, my kids and I actually watched the Marvel movies chronologically based on some YouTube videos, Fury's Big Week, and some posts on these boards. You know, putting in the Viking era, Odin vs. the Frost Giants, and little Thor & Loki from Thor first, then all of Captain America except the opening & ending, then Incredible Hulk opening title sequence, then Hulk alternate opening, then all of Iron Man. After that, there was a lot of jumping around, including the one-shot bonus features. I won't bore you with what order we watch the scenes (unless interested). But it was fun.

Maybe with that link, I'll try again and make it more accurate!

The Young readers Novel at Walmart has it laid out like that. There isn't every single detail in the book but that is how they laid it out. Not ALL the details are in the novel, just the important events because the novel literally goes from event to event, and some events overlap or are happening all at the same time.

I didn't miss anything. Basically its an ABRIDGED version of all the movies Chronologically

I think the best order to watch is the order of release, some films take place almost at the same time, so you would have to take the film out and put the other multiple times, and i think that it's better to watch Incredible Hulk before Iron Man 2 as a kind of intermission because watching the 2 one right after the other is a little too much, i think that getting small doses of each character makes for a better viewing experience.
