This year for C2E2 I decided to take a chance and dress up for one of the days, I'll be an Umbrella Corparation trooper. My question is has anyone here ever done cosplay for a convention, and if you have are any tips you can give for someone who's dressing up for the first time?

What most cosplay people don't tell you is to make sure you bathe and bring something like a snuffbox or an air freshener (for your own sake) because a heck of a lot of people going to the con don't and it reeks when you get in line or have a crowd around you and none of them bothered to bathe in the last three weeks.

Step 1.

Buy or make a good (non crappy) costume.

Step 2.

Cosplay

Beat the biggest, meanest mother there on your first day, and take his shoes, and you'll never be anyone's b****!

.......

Oh sorry, that was my prison tip :o

1. Bring water, powerade, vitamin water or something else that will hyrdrate you.
2. Wear comfortable shoes or find a way to make your costume's shoes comfortable. Hard concrete floors for 8 hours of walking, standing in line, getting photos, etc make for very hurt feet.
3. Plan for photos. If your costume is good, people will want to stop you and take pictures. So if you need to be at a panel and you think you can get there in five minutes, budget for 15.

Take a shower the day of.

What about bags? I know that most cosplayers have someone with them to hold their stuff, I'm going by myself and I know I'm going to get some things.

Depends how bulky the costume is. If it's something crazy then you shouldn't need much for bags and just as a soldier it shouldn't be much but if you plan to get some stuff then I'd bring a few of those sturdy reusable bags so nothing rips or falls apart.

Be sure to post picture(s) of said costume.
