We've talked a lot about trying to work out the plot of the film and the order of scenes... what about all the production stuff? I'd like to go behind the scenes and figure all of that out as well...

Like... when did they start and finish writing the script? When did they cast the main characters? When did they start shooting? When did they stop shooting? How long did this whole thing take and what order did they do everything in? How long did CB train this time? What did he train in? How did they do the biggest special effects (like flipping the truck frontways)?

If you have facts, step up =)

Whoa........You might have to wait for the DVD to find all that out. Or Blu-Ray, if you're that way inclined. Or HD-DVD, if it's still alive.

Other than the when did the filming start/stop, the rest of that stuff is DVD SF.

I know there is info out there. It's just not all in one place, so I thought we could put it all in once place, with actual dates and stuff.

Like I know they said they cast Heith before the script was done. And I'd like to put the whole sequence of events together with the dates of the interviews and such all in one thread. :yay:

Well, I spoke to a crew member the night that they were prepping the stunt (which I got to see live.... it was awesome!!!) and he said that there was a launching mechanism built underneath the pavement and underneath the truck so that when it hit the right spot it would spring upward. He also explained that they had city roadworks crews standing by to fix the street right away since it ripped up a portion of it (I could see them all standing by with their hard hats and orange vests....they looked very amused).

Wow, that is pretty damn cool. Thanks for that!

Amazing what people do for films, isn't it? I really wondered about the truck stunt, because the moment I saw it, I was like... "there is no freakn' way, a truck would ever flip like that in real life, I don't care WHAT it hit..." LOL.

no prob! It was pretty spectacular.

I was also told by another crew member, that I frequently spoke to, that the Bat-Pod is responsible for the truck flip...apparently it shoots the back end with a rocket or something (or so she believed).

Yeah, that'd do it.

And they were cast earlier than that.

Thnaks, I changed it. I was trying to piece everything together from the news reported on the BOF news archives, so I guess all that info is not 100% accurate

Haha, I bet they were amused. :woot: I love finding out how they do stuff like that.

I think they started filming in April 2007. The casting sides showed up mid-March so they were still casting small roles then. Don't think the script was finished until February, but don't quote me on that.

There were a lot of accidents that occurred and one that was fatal and that is all I could really contribute to this thread.

Oh yeah. RIP stuntman driver guy. And $$$$ IMAX camera. :csad:

Holly cow =( Really? That's so sad. What the heck were they doing?

Doesn't that almost never happen in film anymore?
It happens more often than you think, but almost never during filming because of the safety precautions. (If you think the Brandon Lee accident was bad, read up on what happened on Twilight Zone: The Movie.) A set builder died doing SM1, I believe.

IIRC, they were doing stunt driving tests on a track, and the driver lost control and crashed into a tree. No actors were around, they weren't filming at all, but it was TDK-related.

I read an article that came up recently that said it did. I was surprised too but unfortunately I can't find it. I think we had a memorial thread somewhere. What a sad thread.

Ya. I made myself sad now.

Oh it wasn't a stuntman driver guy, it was the special effects guy riding in a car that crashed into a tree. :csad: They were doing studies for a car chase. Let's all savor TDK's car chase scenes, for his sake.
