After a somewhat decent Curse of Chucky, we have another new sequel to the massive Child's Play/Chucky universe.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the story follows Nica Pierce (Fioan Dourif), introduced in the last film, Curse of Chucky, who's been confined to an insane asylum for the past four years and still believes that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. However, several grisly murders start to suddenly plague the asylum once Nica's psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic tool for his patients, a certain smiling Good Guy doll. Brad Dourif will again voice Chucky, having played the character since the first Child's Play in 1988.

In order to escape, Nina will have to get help from Chucky's arch rival Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent, reprising his role from the first two Child's Play films), and go past Chucky's bride Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly, introduced to the series in the fourth installment, 1998's Bride of Chucky).

Cult of Chucky will begin production January 9th, with long-time series director Don Mancini at the helm. Mancini has written every single film in the series since the 1988 original, and wrote and directed the last two sequels, 2004's Seed of Chucky and 2013's Curse of Chucky.

The film will be released just in time for Halloween on Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital HD in an unrated version.

I actually quite liked Curse, looking forward to this.

Liked Curse as well. Chucky used to terrify the s*** out of me as a kid.

Very intrigued with the title.

Andy's definitely a big reason for watching this, for sure.

Andy Barclay is BACK!. F*** YEAH!!!. Curse of chucky was great, one of my favorites since the original. I just wish they were theatrical releases again with bigger budgets. Other than that, bring it on.

Excited Andy's back. Can't wait.

Absolutely stoked for this. So glad Andy's back.

Curse was great.

Hated "Seed" but loved "Curse." Hopefully he sticks to the horror forumula and less on the comedy stuff (don't get me wrong, I like me some chuckles with Chucky but Seed over did it).

How is this crap still getting made? The last few have been horrible.

I'm not sure of the order but the last few have been almost TV movie standard.

Love the Child's Play franchise. Love them all except for Seed. 3 is good enough. But 1&2, Bride and Curse are great. Lookining forward to this.

Like I said to Kane in the Horror thread, huge fanbase and positive to mixed reception of Curse Of Chucky revitalized the franchise.

I do agree that Seed Of Chucky was horrendous, though.

I hope they go back to how he looked in the first few films (if they show him as a regular doll without his scares).

Seed was way too self aware and that's one of the reasons why it failed.

I think there was a pic of him released a while back and he was much closer in appearance to his original Child's Play look than in Curse Of Chucky.

Curse had him largely regular before the scars returned.

I meant the design for his regular look. The one they gave him in Curse was just really weird to me. I liked the old regular one more. Didn't see any point in changing it.

I'd like a return to the original look. The effectiveness of it was he looked so innocent as a doll so when he came alive it was so effective. With the scars he looks like an evil doll.

I hope it's a mix of both scars and original look.

That's basically what they did in Curse though. Sort of.

Never really liked the scar look. It tried too hard to be scary.
