I find it hard to believe all those individuals in the pack has murdered someone to trigger the curse, looked more like a pack of werewolves that triggered the curse via car accidents

Well, I don't remember the explanation last year too clearly, but do all werewolves have to kill someone in order to turn into one, or was that just the Lockwood family? I think it might be the latter, since it seemed like the family was a bit of a special case when it came to that somehow, likely with the fact that they held the moonstone and used it to stall the possibility of turning.

I hope that's not the case, since it would essentially wind up recycling last season's plot of having the various factions decide to kill/save Elena because she's the doppelganger.

Hopefully it will be revealed that there's another reason; perhaps he's choosing the wrong targets, and should instead be trying to turn untriggered werewolves or vampires (well, he's keeping Stefan around for a reason).

From what Klaus said, he was told specifically what to do to break his curse and then be able to create more hybrids. Elena's death was specifically a part of that, but she's still alive, so that clearly is screwing up his plans somehow. They've also been playing up that the others want to keep the knowledge of Elena still being alive away from Klaus, so it's obviously a major plot point for this story this year. So yes, I'm sure that the fact Elena is still alive is why the hybrid creation is not working.

But the bigger question to me is who told Klaus what to do and what is their motivation?

the biggest question is why is Elena walking around trying to get Klaus to be made aware of her presence....oh yea so she can do something about him.

For a second, after he gave Stefan that stare, I was actually thinking it might have nothing to do with Elena still being alive. I almost thought that he was going to give Stefan his blood, wait until he drank it all down, then pull off a tree branch and stake Stefan.

Of course, that probably would never have happened, because I can't see that working for anyone not from a werewolf bloodline. Maybe untriggered werewolves are the way to go.

i don't know what elena is thinking by trying to find stefan when klaus is around. she first needs to find a way to stop/kill klaus before going after stefan again.

Slap on your flapper dresses and tailcoat tuxedos. The Vampire Diaries is flashing back to the roaring '20s.

In Thursday's episode, Stefan (Paul Wesley) will revisit a piece of his past, one in which he doesn't actually remember (thank goodness for diaries!), but is filled with blood and a serious disregard for human life and emotions. How horrifying is it? Let's just say that next to Ripper Stefan, Klaus (Joseph Morgan) actually looks pretty tame.

As Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena (Nina Dobrev) attempt to track him down, they'll be faced with their own set of problems; namely, what could possibly bring him back from the brink of maniacal bloodlust? Plus, new friends and old foes return. Get the scoop on Vampire Diaries' trip to the '20s below, along with Caroline's (Candice Accola) fate, the Originals and Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) ghost issues.

1. Ripper's trip to the '20s: Before Stefan discovers why doesn't remember his experiences in the era by the end of the episode, he'll revisit his time there as he and Klaus travel to Chicago in an attempt to contact a witch who may hold the key to why Klaus can't create new hybrids. In doing so, we'll find out why Stefan really is important in the long run. "One of the big questions that we left last year with was why Klaus took such an interest in Stefan, Stefan specifically of all people," executive producer Julie Plec says. "What we really wanted to do was show the roots of Klaus' character as it relates to his family, the people that he's known for 1,000 years and been with off and on for 1,000 years that we notoriously know that he's daggered one by one and carted around in coffins."

2. The Originals, resurrected: The family will be popping in and out this season, but don't expect to see all of them. "That was our intention until we did the math and realized we've said there's seven children, and that's a lot of new people to bring into the story," Plec says. "The mother is going to be someone we meet in the past, as well as other siblings and we'll see Elijah [Daniel Gillies] again."

3. Elena's mission to save Stefan: Stefan and Elena will finally come face-to-face. "This episode is a big deal for the Stefan and Elena relationship," Plec says. "In her plucky little heart... she's a compassionate savior of her friends and loved ones. I really do think she believes it is as easy as just getting him out of that environment." Unfortunately, it's not that easy. We'll see Elena "as she struggles with her desire to help rescue this hero in her life... but also the realities of learning the lesson that you can't necessarily let yourself be consumed in your own life by saving someone else's."

4. Old foes return: "We get to learn some old, old secrets and return to play with some old friends-slash-foes," Plec teases of Thursday's episode. We're sworn to secrecy not to reveal exactly who is returning, but he or she will appear in both the past and present.

5. Caroline gets tortured: If you thought Klaus was heartless when it came to his family, that's nothing in comparison to Caroline's dad (Jack Coleman), who takes to torturing her in an attempt to break her of her blood lust. "It's a story about a parent thinking they know best for their child," Plec says, and in this case, father does not know best.

6. Ghostly appearances: While Jeremy doesn't appear in Thursday's episode, his visions of dead girlfriend Vicki (Kayla Ewell) and Anna (Malese Jow), who are seemingly at odds, will come back in full force the following week. "There is an agenda happening with our ghosts that isn't just, 'Hey, I want to make amends with my loved ones,'" Plec says. "We're [also] going to see the emotional consequences of Bonnie [Katerina Graham] bringing Jeremy back to life, which is that it's put a rift in her romantic relationship with him. Our arc is to see what the ghostly and supernatural consequences are. We go all out in Halloween and have ourselves some fun. It's not Halloween in the show, but we still do an episode where we get to have a little fun with ghosts and really pay off that chapter." Plus: Plec notes that Jeremy seeing dead people is not limited to just Anna and Vicki.

7. The Council divided: The discovery that Caroline is a vampire and Tyler (Michael Trevino) is a werewolf will have consequences on the Council, those sworn to protect Mystic Falls from the supernatural. "There's a couple juicy Council moments coming up," Plec says. "For those of you that follow the moves of the council and their glorious incompetencies, next week showcases that beautifully. Next week, it's like, 'Wait a second, who actually on this council is not somehow carrying a secret for their child that are supposed to be the very people we are fighting against?'"

8. Matt's struggles: Matt's (Zach Roerig) issues with the supernatural nature of Mystic Falls will come to a head in the fifth episode. "It's set the weekend before senior year begins, and it's an annual tradition of senior prank night and things, of course, goes horribly wrong," Plec says. "For Matt, specifically, it's kind of bittersweet because... there was a sense of life he's had that he's really lost over the two seasons of our show and it's really hurting him. We get to explore that in a beautiful and tragic way." Plus, Plec adds, "Matt's gotta get laid this year, for sure, because he just needs that. He needs love."

Another Original.

I love that Klaus and Stefan used to be friends.

I wonder why Stefan did not tell Damon to look into Klaus's past ? Now that Stefan knows that Klaus is running from someone they could use that to their advantage. I guess Stefan could be trying to get more info first if anything. But it still would have made more sense to tell Damon & Elena to start looking into Klau's past so that the next time they meet up they can put missing pieces together

Another good episode. But 2 things:

1. When is Bonnie coming back? They better make her as great as they made Caroline in S2.

2. Why are 99% of the witches we see black? Every single witch we have seen except for like 1 have been black? Whats up with that? I know its not that big of a deal but it bothers me a bit.

Because he doesn't want them to come for him. Giving them the information would only lead them to dig deeper and exposing them to Klaus more - the exact opposite of what he wants them to do.

I'm thinking that Sebastian Roche's character that appeared at the end last night is [blackout]The Originals' father[/blackout].

So Stefan is hoping to get this fixed up all by himself ? Find out who Klaus is hiding from & then make a deal with Klaus to leave Stefan alone ? & even if successful Stefan would not just return to Mystic Falls. At least Stefan can have some fun with his ex. At least until they find out that Stefans new ex has the necklace

Alice Evans is set to guest-star as the mother of the Original family on The Vampire Diaries, TVGuide.com has learned.

Evans, who notably played a young Eloise Hawking on Lost, will be introduced as Esther via flashbacks in Episode 8. As we previously reported, the character is as fierce and strong as Klaus (Joseph Morgan), but she's more into protecting her family.

Evans joins other members of the original family, including Klaus, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekuh (Claire Holt).

Evans has also appeared on Brothers & Sisters.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8/7c on The CW.

Aaaah.

I approve. I can't wait to see who ends up playing the father. Or Klaus' father, for that matter.

Dammit, Katherine, you tricked me again.

I loves me some Katherine. Nice to have Bonnie back to. Though sad that she wont be that witchy this season. Hopefully this is her year. Prob. not but one can hope.

Kathrine was right in that Stefan was not a smart or good bad guy. Stefan doing what Stefan did just led Klaus right back to Mystic Falls

Personally, I hope it stays that way. Last season, it was getting to the point where every problem could or was solved by Bonnie and her witchy mojo.

This one's going to be big.

Jeremy's storyline this season is boring me to tears. Then again, I never liked his character. *shrug*

I was glad to see Katherine back. I miss my HBIC.

I rather like where Jeremy's storyline is going.

The problem with Jeremy's storyline Is It makes me wish they could outright resurrect Anna. Not having Bonnie for a couple of episodes was great. And anytime
Katharine Is on the show makes It so muc better.Anytime Nina Dobrev plays
Katharine she Is just so much sexier than as elena.Even just being on phone she just Is so much more appeaing as Katharine.I hope they never kill Katharine off.

I'm betting right now that Michael is going to be [blackout]the Original Father.[/blackout]

Holy. ****ing. ****. :wow:

That was a crazy ass episode. New new Stefan is going to be fun. As will Tyler [blackout]being a hybrid.[/blackout]
