Iron Man takes Clor hammer that was intended to Cap in the chest, and "died". Extremis gone, revived Stark takes a sabbatical until 2008 ("year of Iron Man") outing.

Face it guys, Iron Man and Captain America is Marvel's Batman and Superman. They're inseparable and have emotional attachment to each other.

I really dont see how Marvel could ever kill off Cap, there just no way.
Thor has no reason to be involved even if he has an evil clone running around, I've said it many times before, he's in Asgard or whatever is left of it, and earth is of no concern to him, atleast not right now.

No I didnt, but I'm such a dumb ass for not even thinking about that. So yea its possible, but I dont think that will happen. Death is definetly not permenant anymore but ressuresctions are overused,

I think Tony should save Cap from a near death blow, like many other people speculate, but instead of die, Tony should be in a coma in critical condition for a good long time. Which makes him look like a hero, and also shows Cap that Tony is still a true blue hero at his heart. It would also explain why somebody else will be doning the Ironman armor, and like many others have said, he would return as a true hero in 2008, just in time for his movie.

No it wont change the fact that he's a dick, I never said that but it shows that he is not the villian people think he is becoming. Look at there little meeting they had with eachother at the Avengers mansion, they have such a connection, how do you think Cap would feel to see Tony sacrifice himself and his cause to save Cap?

I think they would, I think Peter would care, I think Luke Cage would care, I think a lot of people would care.

In the end I think the only one that matters is if Cap felt grateful.

Plus, if most of the marvel writing is left up to Claremont (and I pray it isn't), this whole CW thing will blow over in a year. Dr. Strange will wipe the minds of the millions of people who know who Peter is, and he'll go on living his normal life with his wife and aunt, albeit in an aparment instead of the Avengers tower.

Tony's a dick, and always be a dick.

That's what Marvel writes him to be as a flawed dangerous character as opposed to the more angelic Steve Rogers. But what people often ignore is his powerhouse potential as an inventive, resourceful mortal and his willingness to sacrifice for the greater good.

Give him a burial for what he's done in Civil War for his atonement and reborn like a Phoenix near 2008.

Tony will go out like a hero, I garuantee it. He will go down exactly like I already said, saving Cap leaving him in critical condition in a coma, unable to lead Shield and unable to be the poster boy for the registration.

Yeah, but temporarily. If it's Hudlin's arc it would be permanent, but thank god it's not. Tony Stark is not an idiot and a lot of people forget about this.

Civil War in the core is about Cap and Shellhead. They're the main characters. If it's going to end, it's going to be a fight or a truce between them alone.

Some minor characters will die and both sides will stop fighting and come their senses after seeing the chaos and damage.....and CW will be over. Cap and Tony will still hold a grudge; hence the 2 Avenger teams.

Spider-Man beat the living crap out of Iron Man 2020, who had a much more technologically advanced suit then his ancestor does, so anything is possible.

Peter may yet find a way to counter Tony's new-found "spider-sense".

Yeah, about the 2020, though that Iron Man wasn't Tony Stark, just a guy piloting a better armour. You could pilot a better Iron Man armour, and Tony would probably still shut you down in his Heros Return armour.

As for Pete countering his own Spider-Sense, I doubt it. He doesn't have the resources, or really any way to determine it at the moment.

Cap's team may have some problems with Sentry. I think Invisible Woman could stop him, but not without killing him, and i don't think she'll do that.

Vision beat Hyperion pretty easily, so maybe he could handle Sentry...

Cloak, of course, could transport Sentry to the Dark Dimension...

What about Wiccan? I don't read Young Avengers. Is he an actual mage? Perhaps he could come up with a spell to put Sentry out?

I'm kind of curious how the Invisible Woman will put down the Sentry?

And I don't know about Cloak, it's been shown in the past that especially powerful beings can escape him.

As for Wiccan, FAR too slow.
