Danny Boyle's "Sunshine"

Trailer was pretty bleh, lol. Editing wise. I guess it was because of that Requiem for a Dream stuff being used, lol. Looks cool though.

more importantly...when is this coming out? hehe, i really wanna see this. i'm surprised Michelle Yeoh is in it...and she's not doing martial arts!!! hehe

Hmm, I have severe reservations about this movie.
I mean, I looooooved shallow grave ( that was Danny Boyle wasn't it? ) but ever since then his movies have gotten into an Impressve decline, at least I think so.
by the time I heard about this movie I was like "yeah, seems like a cool concept...when it was called Event Horizon" I've mellowed out about considerably since then, but still.

I don't know.

evil is afoot.

Whoa, WHOA the newest trailer was AWESOME! I don't know how you can say it is was "bleh"?! I was pretty interested in this movie beforehand, but now I am DYING for it! :D I love sci-fi and this just looks to top that all off.

Honestly, that trailer blew my mind. Up there with the trailer for 300 for being one of the best ever! I guess it was that Requiem song...

I enjoyed the trailer, so I might just check it out when it's released. The cast is pretty impressive, and the premise is quite intriguing.

huh? Event Horizon was about a ship rescuing a crew. Sunshine is about a ship restarting the sun....

...how is that the same concept?

Because the mission is not really the important thing here.
the important thing is what happens to the people, look at the summary
"..question their sanity"
sure Solaris did it wayyyy before, but it's Boyle so lots of loud noises and quick camera work to scare us.

Well in all fairness if you look at a majority of the films today you can somehow make some kind of small connection to a past movie and say it is ripping it off. It is practically impossible to make something entirely original these days.

I did a quick search on the title but came up empty, so hopefully noone else has posted a topic on this.

"Sunshine" is the name of a scifi-movie Danny Boyle (Trainspotting and 28 Days Later) is directing, starring Chris Evans (Fantastic Four), and Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins) among others...

Basically, the story goes: 50 years from now, the sun is dying, and a team of people are sent on a mission to basically jump start it.

I think it might be interesting... especially since Danny Boyle is doing it. However, I do hope they try to give some kind of explanation as to why the sun is "dying", and why we're in such a hurry to fix it. To the best of my knowledge it'll be a good few billion years before we need to worry about that stuff (and even then, the sun wouldn't just shut down and go cold, it'd be a whole complex series of events), and the process would be so slow you couldn't possibly expect any quest to stop it to be in a big hurry "before it's too late".
But that's just my science geek complaint... the visual design in the trailer looks great, and like I said... it's Danny Boyle.

I dug this trailer, and Danny Boyle is huge in my top 50 films, with trainspotting, the beach, and 28 days later

i'm diggin it, and wat to see it

I think it cools pretty cool, stepping up a gear from 28days later and millions

I assume that the crew of the ship is an international one, wonder if there are any Brits on board??

Well I dunno it is looking like Cillian Murphy is the lead, and Evans is like the second lead, and both are american, I would assume there would be some brits in it cause its a Boyle film, like for example I am surprised Robert Carlyle isn't in this, but I dunno
