Justice League Danny Elfman Scoring Justice League - Part 1

After viewing those new clips I have zero doubts about Elfman’s score now.

It was silly to act like you couldn't reuse an old theme for a newer version in the first place. Other franchises have successfully done it, and with the new clips, Danny Elfman has successfully done it as well. The B89 theme doesn't feel out of place with Batfleck at all.

Yes, and for that I will buy this OST.

I think in scenes like this:

Zimmer's sense for epic is sorely missing.

Someone tell those modern productions of Swan Lake to stop using Tchaikovsky's music. They're just pandering to older fanboys.:o

From the clip so far...the score is meh and basically doesnt overpower the scene and give it new life, specially in the action scenes.
The batman motif worked. Didnt sound out of place, so thats a positive.

Exactly what I wanted from Elfman. Better be forgettable/ignorable than ruin the experience. I dont expect this score to be great. So as long as it doesnt hurt the scenes, I'm good. I've made peace with it

Edit : Dunno if I'll dig the change to the WW theme. But I'm very interested to hear the full theme.

Nope, nope, nope, nope, the score sounds terrific and is taking the film to another level! It also seems to suit the film surpisingly very well.

Maaan, I'm listeting to MoS and BvS scores. It fits the Snyder's visuals perfectly. Elfman's music feels rather anemic in that action clip.

Don't think the music is anything particularly special quite yet, but as long as it makes an impression in the context of the film I'm fine with that. Doubt it will top Man of Steel in any way.

Good to hear it works for you! :)

The thing is, this scene is not some kind of a epic fight. The music works well here but I hope Elfman will give us something huge and bombastic when the situation calls for it. Zimmer's pounding drum ensemble is a must.

Yeah, it is working very well for me, surprisingly, and is also reminding me of the good old DCAU days more than Man of Steel did. And I saw Man of Steel just this noon after a long time and needless to say, Zimmer's work is phenomenal in that film. Especially in the opening... :hmr: And Danny Elfman's sound signature also seems to blend perfectly well with this universe. I am sorry that it isn't working for you, but as far as my experience seems to go, I am extremely happy with this change!

Elfman's theme rules so hard in that clip.

Agreed. The score so far is serviceable but nothing to write home about.

His Batman theme actually works here. I don't prefer it for this Batman but it works.

I'm fine with his work so far if I back off from comparing it to the works from MoS, BvS, and even Wonder Woman. It all definitely sounds like a far cry from those. And I can't say I don't miss how some of the pieces from those soundtracks made an indelible impression on me. Hoping at least one non-recycled track from Elfman has such an effect on me too.

That snippet of Wonder Woman's theme...I gotta say, Elfman's composition style will not be complimenting the current themes in the DCEU going by that. His rework of the theme does nothing for me so far. That's quite the feat to have that sound that generic. Rupert Gregson-Williams did a much better job at incorporating horns in the theme while still maintaining the epic, triumphant, and otherworldly quality of the piece imo.

Just hoping for the best at this point.

You know what? I actually think they should have kept Junkie XL here to assist Elfman with the battle music to get closer to the MoS snd BvS epic sound. De facto the same role he occupied with Zimmer. Elfman's timpani and xylophones won't cut it. :funny: :csad:

Uhh.. Whedon is the one who booted Junkie in the first place. Why would he keep him on if he didn't like his work? You're probably the most adamant anti-Elfman person around these parts :funny:
