Justice League Danny Elfman Scoring Justice League - Part 2

The Final Battle was hard to hear.

Other than that, most of the score was fine for me.

That feeling when the Comic-Con trailer music was better than the entire score....

That MOS-ish piece at the middle was better than anything Elfman came up with.

This score was nonexistent. Pretty bad. Not using Zimmer's themes was a terrible idea.

Loosing Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL was one of the biggest losses this film endured.

Elfman's score was small and generic. The bits where he included his Batman theme (it's a tremendous piece of music, but it belongs in the films it was intended for) weren't bad. His use of the John Williams' Superman Theme (again - a classic that is truly amazing), on the other hand, was poorly executed.

The only scenes where the score really worked at all were the introductory scene with [BLACKOUT]Wonder Woman, where Elfman brings back Hans' cello theme and the music played during Lois' speech at the end of the film culminating in the iconic shirt rip from Clark Kent.[/BLACKOUT] The rest of the score seems small and, again, generic.

This is a terrible shame. Say what you want about the films themselves, but Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are two of the best scored comic book films of the past 20 years. Their scores were emotionally resonant, driving and down-right epic.

Just having Junkie XL score this film would have drastically improved the end product.

I liked the movie. I liked it quite a bit, actually.

I just really wish we had gotten to see the initial vision of the film. It may not have been a 3-hour cut like some people are saying, but there was more. And I wish we had gotten to see Snyder's full vision.

WB learned the wrong lessons from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. They thought the main lesson was to make a movie shorter and lighter. The lesson was to get out of the director's way and not cut up their work. That's what the Ultimate Edition of the film showed us.

Oh well.

So yeah, I'll echo the general sentiment that this score was pretty forgettable. Aside from the Flash's little cue, nothing stood out at all. Zimmer/ Junkie was surely missed here for me.

As someone who loved this movie, I hated every second of Elfman's score. I hated the old themes he brought back, that he didn't use the MOS theme, the cheesy vibe it had in several parts, and how bland it was in the rest of it. Utter garbage.

But despite that I LOVED the movie.

Sorry guys. I disagree full-heartily. I think the score works well with the movie. The only problem that I had was the mixing. The flash motif was awesome, and the Steppenwolf theme was pure joy in my ears. Steppenwolf didn't deserve such a good theme actually.
Han's and Junkie's stuff is more in your face but for the love of Christ at least the heroes felt heroic with the Elfman music. It was not stock chord progressions that every other composer is using now in hollywood. Oh, and to dip the popularity of my opinion even further the Wonder Woman theme sounds better than ever in this film. The orchestral approach made it appear more timeless.

Never thought I would say this but I didn't care much for Elfman's score. It was jarring at one point (start of Wonderwoman's scene).

The only two places Elfman's theme felt out of place for me...
01. The beginning of the Wonder Woman sequence at the start of the film.
02. The final battle with his 1989 Batman theme playing.

It was too wonky for the Wonder Woman sequence, and this Batman is beyond
the 1989 Batman theme. It didn't fit what was going on at all. Batman's theme from
BvS should have played during that moment. It would have been more powerful.

Flash's theme worked perfectly for his moment. I found it to be rather enjoyable.
I wish Cyborg & Aquaman would have had more pronounced themes.

I'm finally watching the Ultimate Edition of BvS for the first time and I am immediately struck all over again by how powerful the score is. And I mean immediately: less than two minutes in and the music just kills me.

Go away, Danny Elfman.

This man gave us possibly the best film of all time in batman back in 89.

He may well have given us one of the poorest here. Not one memorable track.

The score is tragic.

Best bit of music is from Sigrid. That's it.

Oh and BVS score was equally as bad when compared to simmers work on batman begins.

The Flash motif is literally Elfman’s score from Ang Lee’s HULK.
It may work for this film, but it’s not original.

I'm sorry but having now seen the film Elfman's score as basically noexistant. Like, it felt like the dude didnt even try. Music in a film, especially blockbusters like these are supposed to amplify the cool moments and this did none of that. You had to strain your ears to hear the Batman 89 theme and I did enjoy those parts but Elfman couldn't even blare his own Batman theme, everything was so muted. For the love of Zod, crank up the volume, man, this is supposed to be a party and whats a party without cool music? Think of all the cool moments in this film and then picture how Junkie or Zimmer would've injected thise scenes with adrenaline with their sound. That's how these blockbusters should sound. Man, just IMAGINE if it had been Elfman that composed WW's theme in BvS when she appeared in the third act. It would've been so underwhelming so much less "**** YEAH!!" worthy.

I know I sound harsh, I didn't hate the score it was just nonexistant, I wish the music could've actually enhanced the music instead of just being there.

Right?!

You know what we should do guys, and I'm completely serious, I would love to collaborate with y'all and create a fan made edit of JL when its released on video with Junkie/ Zimmer's music replacing Elfman's. Who's down?

I actually signed that petition but lets be honest, its going to fall on deaf ears. I think its ultimately going to be up to us creative fans to create a cut of the film with Junkie's music in it. I think we have more than enough music of his from MoS, BvS, and even other films like Mad Max wthat we can use and insert into this film. For example, imagine "Chapter Doof" from Mad Max playing over the final action sequence.

The score was a lot better than the movie, and that Sigrid cover absolutely sucks. Why couldn't they have just used Cohen's original? Snyder's clearly a fan, after using two of his songs in Watchmen.

And a Junkie scored JL will never happen since he never completed his work on the film. Maybe he has a few suites, but beyond that?

I don't know if it was my theater but the music was very low which I don't think helps. However, it fit better than I thought it would
