Tina Guo?

Could be someone else though, as in the interview I watched I didn't hear that she came up with the riff, only that Zimmer was inspired by her playing style.

I think it was the electric cello that he pulled from Tina Guo, or whatever her name was.

Yup, she's the cellist. I don't know if she also came up with the riff or Jekecy refers to another person, though.

Junkie XL was very good in both Mad Max:Fury Road and BvS, good choice WB.

Wait, Junkie didn't do WW's theme?? That was Zimmer? Huh. How bout that. It seemed more Junkie-esque to me.

Nope, it was Zimmer. To tell you the truth, I am having a hard time telling the two apart lately. Junkie is a bit more loud and bombastic, but I'm not much of a fan of either.

Justice League needs a really heroic score, so I hope Junkie can tone down the heavy intense drumming.

Not in love with Junkie's music.

Tom Holkenborg can be very versatile when he wants it:

Sad/emotional:

[YT]duV7nDkXtr0[/YT]

Heroic:

[YT]xllG3fSUAOw[/YT]

[YT]lEnBxqIYqL0[/YT]

Epic:

Don't forget that the director determines the tone and mood of the music. He was simply following the Snyder's instruction.

Junkie XL is as good as Zimmer now or almost. He's got 100% of my confidence for Justice League Epicness

By the way - 2:24

It's true. While we aren't getting Zimmer we are getting his prodigy.

Strongly disagree. Junkie XL has yet to write a score that rivals Zimmer's Black Rain, The Lion King, Gladiator, Hannibal, The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, Sherlock Holmes, Interstellar to name a few.

He's got a very long way to go to rival Zimmer as a composer, imo. However I believe Junkie XL is as good Tyler Bates now or almost.

fair enough though he got very good potential for CBM

“It is challenging and Hans [Zimmer] and I faced the same issue when we worked on Batman V Superman. Sometimes, every character has a specific theme, but sometimes you make a piece of music that captures the vibe of what’s going on. For Batman V Superman, we only picked Wonder Woman as a unique theme for her. But yes, it’s complicated. If you have six guys in one scene battling another guy and there’s 10,000 things going on at the same time, you’ve got to pick and choose. No matter how you look at it, the music is always supporting the film. It’s not music on its own, it’s always in support of what’s going on the screen.”

The article seem to suggest that he might leave the themes for the solo film's composers? I wouldn't mind hearing the BvS theme while the team is in action, though I think he might at least give Flash a go, for some upbeat, fun mood.

After seeing the JL teaser, I think Junkie XL will be asked to do a stylistic change. No brooding celli, more woodwinds, and a more catchier theme.

JunkieXL is going to do his own style like he always has. Studios rarely interfere with film scores. That's left to the composer with the input of the director. Why would Snyder or Junkie alter the themes and tone and style? If you're hoping for John Williams or Dany Elfman type music you're not going to get it from Junkie.

Well studios don't usually have this big franchise they are plotting out. Let's say they will tell Snyder to tell the composer get a particular sound.

Still Junkie can do lighter and what not so I would expect them to go "Make it sound like Elfman or Williams". Otherwise they'd just hire someone else.

Umm.... it's more often than just 'rare.'

- Marvel Studios scrapped half of Brian Tyler's music for Avengers 2 and said sayonara to his Marvel fanfare when he opted to finish Furious 7 in lieu of Ultron. They brought in Elfman to finish things up.
- Universal took out Elfman's score for The Wolfman, then changed their minds and put it back in. Three composers wrote additional score in Elfman's style to accommodate the recut film.
- Danny Elfman went through hell when Sam Raimi fell in love with the temp track for Spider-Man 2 and ended up leaving during final dubbing. John Debney and Christopher Young provided additional score for the finished film.
- Christopher Young, who replaced Elfman on Spider-Man 3, had portions of his score dropped in favor of re-recordings of Elfman's themes. (Much of his stuff were themes for Aunt May, Mary Jane, and Gwen Stacy.)
- Jerry Bruckheimer rejected Alan Silvestri's demo themes for the first Pirates of the Caribbean and brought in Hans Zimmer instead.
- Jon Favreau was forced by Marvel to use Ramin Djawadi for Iron Man, in lieu of his previous collaborator John Debney (who did IM2).
- Warner Brothers rejected the original scores for Troy and Pan by Gabriel Yared and Dario Marianelli and enlisted James Horner and John Powell for last minute replacement scores.

There is precedent for a similar situation to pop up in JL. Or it could be smooth sailing, music-wise.

Well Junkie has done a remix we THINK of Godsmack's Come together We'll have to wait for the release of HIS remix but until then Here's Godsmack

I'm wondering with Snyder leaving the project in Whedon's hands, whether Joss will stick with Tom Holkenborg or go with someone he's comfortable with. Just because Whedon will stick with the tone and style Snyder established doesn't always mean music-wise.

When Tony Gilroy signed on to for those Rogue One reshoots, he brought in his own brother to edit the film and tossed out Alexandre Desplat in favor of Michael Giacchino. Composers have been replaced for less.

Whedon isn't the new JL director. He's just finishing up Zack's work.

I don't think Zack or Deborah care whether Junkie XL stays, they are stepping away completely due to their loss.

Whedon may keep Holkenborg out of loyalty and maintain continuity, but it's not a given.

It's already been confirmed that everything Whedon is doing will be within Zack's existing tone and framework. I am quite positive that WB and Whedon are going to be honoring the film Zack has been making.

I disagree entirely with Junkie being a good composer. I was watching Mad Max earlier and was struck by how lazy and unmemorable the score seemed.
