both 1997, both volcano disaster movies, which one did you enjoy better? Scientific accuracy over pure Hollywood mayhem and destruction. Feel free to discuss anything.

Coming from years of studying and pursuing volcanology (I'm a senior looking into colleges right now) I prefer Dante's peak, I enjoyed the accuracy from it plus I thought the acting was pretty good too.

Volcano's not scientific? You mean you can't actually get that close to lava?? You can't step in lava and still have time to throw a man to safety before you die? Aww, come on!!

Can't get that close to lava without getting burned yes. But as for actually stepping into lava, several scientists have accidentally done so, they were yanked out immediately, but suffered 3rd degree burns. I think it would take you at least 2 minutes in the lava to actually die, and you would never actually melt, just be horrifically burned. And as far as I know, no one has actually ever been killed by lava itself.

I know. BUt it is funny how close they have people standing next to something that would cause blisters in a matter of minutes, if not seconds. Especially if the wind was blowing toward the people.

Tommy Lee Jones wins. Volcano was more epic...

I enjoy both movies. I found Dante's Peak more emotional, but Volcano was more exciting. It depends what I'm in the mood to see. And I don't know much about volcanoes, so scientific accuracy never comes into the equation for me.

Dante's Peak was far better, although that stupid granny is the worst character in either movie. I hated her.

Volcano was filled with silliness and stupid characters. Dante's Peak had a story that could actually happen. Plus, Brosnan!
